Chapter 63: Chapter 63
"Now, I have a question for you. If it was your father and his men pointing a gun at him and you are protectively shielded behind your old man and saw he has an extra gun on him and he was going to blow your man’s brains out, just for the fuck of it, or for having the audacity to take his daughter. What would you do?!"
"Please, don't do this!" Nadia pleaded.
"What the fuck will you do?!" Cole yelled.
"I will stop him!"
"How?!" Cole persisted.
"Do something so he could get away!"
"Get away?! He is your fucking mate! He will not want to simply get away! He will not let them tear him away from you. So there's only one way out, death!"
"No! Please stop!" she pleaded brokenly. The room seemed to be quiet. Angel did not know Cole Miller well enough but his train of questions gave him pause.
"How the fuck will you make him stop?! Because for him to have gotten this far up here in this room, he would have killed my guards, probably harmed Xavier and Hallec, and my woman! So tell me what the fuck will you do?!"
"I will stop him!"
"Tell me how!" Cole yelled.
Nadia started to sob, knowing if she was in that situation she would not let her father kill Angel even if she had to use his own gun on him. The knowledge made her so angry. Because she knew with utter convictions she would choose Angel over her father.
"I will shoot him! Are you happy now?! I wouldn't let him kill him!" Nadia yelled, remembering the guards that had tried to kill Angel in the pit. She hadn't hesitated before she shot them. The only thing that mattered was saving Angel. It made her feel pathetic. That she would kill for a man who doesn't love her. She had betrayed her entire family for him and she would do it again if given another chance. Because she loved him. The acceptance made her feel drained.
"Do you have a credit card on you?" Cole asked, confusing her.
"What?!"
"Do you fucking have a debit or credit card on you? A phone, tracking devices on your person?!"
"No, my phone is with Angel. My card is back at my uncle's," Nadia replied.
"Do you know the number on the card?"
"Yes," she replied, searching his cold gaze.
"You can never use it again. If you ever try to, I will kill you and him, and send you in a bag back to your father," Cole said and drew back from Nadia. Nadia's eyes darted in their sockets watching the lunatic. He then turned to the others, let out a deep sigh and threw his arms open and then said, "Honey, I'm home." Cole grinned at Isabelle and gestured to Jason, Ash and others to lower their weapons. They complied.
"Son of a bitch!" Angel muttered, running his hands over his face and then back to his nape. Convinced now that Cole Miller had done that to know where Nadia's loyalty lies. Thereby solving all his problems. He took a steady breath, not daring to look in Nadia's way. She had just picked him over her father and the knowledge of that made his heart swell with love for her.
"That was unnecessary you know!" Nadia said glaring at Cole Miller. The other man shrugged.
"I am sleep deprived, starving and we need to get the hell out of here. I'm not in the mood to hold your hand, princess," Cole grumbled.
"Don't call me that!"
"Oops, sorry," Cole said, giving her a narrow gaze. Somebody is cranky,"
"Cole, stop it. Leave her alone," Isabelle interjected. And to Nadia, she muttered, "sorry," as she walked to meet Cole. Before she could scold him some more, he cupped her chin and kissed her. When he let go of her mouth, the smile that transformed his face made Nadia's heart hurt.
"Miss you, baby," he said in a deep husky tone that depicted a great affection for his mate. Isabelle sighed, reaching up to frame his face.
"Stop scaring me like that!"
"Yes, ma'am," he replied in a gentle tone that was entirely different from the one he used with Nadia. One would think it was a different man entirely.
"Ah, heavens, Cole is going to be the end of me," Xavier groaned. Cole drew back from Isabelle, ushering her towards Xavier and with a raised eyebrow and laughing eyes, he tightened his fist, raising it up to Xavier. The other Were laughed, shook his head, and did the same. The two pressed their fists together in a fist bump.
"You are a disaster…" Xavier said.
"Love you too, brother," Cole said, grinning.
"How are you really?"
"They took the bullets out and Jason stole them…"
"You asked me to do it…" the other Were said from across the room.
"Semantics" Cole grumbled. Xavier and Jason chuckled. "I'm healing now," he added.
"What took you so long?"
"They wanted to take us back to the states," Cole replied. Xavier frowned.
"How did you get out of that?"
"We didn't. To them we are on our way back home," Cole said.
"We gave up our seats to two elderlies that needed it more. .." Jason supplied.
"Did you jump off a moving plane?" Isabelle gasped.
"Um no…" he replied giving her a shifty look. Isabelle glowered at him.
"No such luck," Jason grumbled.
"I hate to ask what you did," Xavier laughed.
"I promise to tell you all about it on our way back. I really need to eat…."
"And sleep…" Jason added.
"What he said," Cole said and started to usher Isabelle out of the room, patting Angel on the shoulder as he walked past him.
Jason shook hands with Xavier, patted Angel on the forearm and muttered, "Sorry, we need to be sure she will always be in your corner." Angel nodded in understanding, still dazed.
" ‘She’ can hear you!" Nadia grumbled.
"Apologies, ma'am," Jason replied. Nadia rolled her eyes in exasperation as she lowered back to the bed.
Ash and the others filed out.
"Hello, Belle," Jason greeted.
"Welcome back, Jason," Isabelle replied, glowering at him. The other Were grinned widely.
"Why do you always indulge this lunatic?" Angel directed at Jason watching Isabelle and the big human leave the room.
"Oh, it is not indulgence. He called it insubordination. The last time I tried to reason with him when he was in such a mood, he pointed the gun at my head," Jason said. "It's called surviving Cole Miller. Everyone on the team does it. That's how we all stayed alive. Because for some reason, he is always accurate in his deductions of situations. You will soon understand."
"Please, I need doctor Amèlie ," Nadia groaned. Angel took a quick step to her bedside. He made to touch her then paused midway.
"I will get her," Xavier said and left.
Nadia held Angel's gaze and he slowly drew back, straightening his spine. He slipped his hands into the pockets of his Jeans. Nadia shut her eyes to hide her hurt.
