Chapter 46: Chapter 46
When they finally made it to the tunnel, Blaze was lying down on the makeshift bed with the human girl. He wrapped himself around her and she had her back to him. With the way they were, Angel could see that Blaze's folded knee was in-between the girls’, her ass was pressed to his groin and one arm was wrapped around her shoulders, and the other was inside her dress, and up her chest.
Angel kicked him by the leg and he bolted up, quickly forming a defensive stance. The sheet covering their lower body peeled off showing the girl's dress had ridden up and it was her bare ass that was pressed to Blaze's groins but Blaze’s pants were up.
Nadia coughed trying to hide a giggle. It was obvious the two got carried away at some point in the night.
Angel arched an eyebrow at him and the younger Were turned red in the face. He quickly shook his head at Angel then lowered his gaze. He pulled the girl's dress down and gently shook her awake. The girl sat up and her eyes widened with dismay when she saw Nadia.
“Um… Hey! Miss Nadia would take you safely back now,” Angel said. Blaze helped the girl up and she tore her fearful gaze from Nadia to meet Angel’s.
“I … I was supposed to go and give him his food and then I started feeling faint when I entered the room the next I knew I was here. Blaze told me what happened. I swear I didn’t lead him on! I didn’t do anything! I promise!” the girl quickly said, shivering as she darted her gaze from Angel to Nadia.
“Calm down, Ava,” Blaze said, drawing her back into his arms. “Miss Nadia is not going to tell on you. She is here to help.”
“But…” she said. And Angel drew Nadia to his side and pressed a kiss to her hair, causing Nadia to press her open palm to his pectorals. The girl’s eyes grew bigger as if they were going to pop out.
“She is here to help,” Angel repeated.
Tears welled in the girl’s eyes and Angel could still perceive her fear and distrust. When Nadia made to touch her she flinched, moving backwards. Blaze wrapped his arms around her waist.
“It’s okay, I promise, Ava...” Blaze said again in a soothing voice. The girl looked from Blaze to Angel for confirmation before directing her gaze at Nadia. Nadia felt like crying from the sheer terror and distrust in her eyes.
“I promise I will help you,” Nadia said. The girl swallowed and reverted her gaze to Blaze. The young Were framed her face and said, “Go with her, you will be safe.”
Nadia folded her arms around her chest, feeling raw. Angel put his arms around her, draw her into his arms and pressed a kiss to her hair again. The girl watched eagerly.
“She is with us and will protect you for as long as she is here, so you can't tell anyone or the deal is off,” Angel said to the girl over Nadia’s head.
“I will not tell!” the girl replied in a fervent whisper and tears spilt down her face. Angel nodded.
When Nadia reached for the girl again, she allowed her to touch her. Nadia then ushered her to the secret passage exit door. But before Nadia opened the door, the human girl rushed back to Blaze, stretched up to frame his jaw and kissed him. She then held on to him for about a minute before running back to Nadia. Angel met Nadia’s eyes and saw the longing look she was casting at him before she turned away and left.
Angel slowly returned his gaze to Blaze. The young Were shifted awkwardly on his feet.
“Nothing happened,” he said in a rush.
“I didn’t ask, Blaze,” Angel said, hiding a smile.
“I just did as she asked. She wanted me to help her erase the scent of that bastard on her,” Blaze explained anyway.
“I didn’t ask,” Angel repeated.
“Okay,” Blaze said and hurried towards the other exit. Angel smiled and followed him.
When they got inside the pit. Angel was glad to see everyone was there.
“The girl?” Kurt asked.
“With Nadia. She will be fine,” Angel replied.
“Can we take the antidote now?” Odwolf asked.
Angel shrugged, and replied, “I suppose... we have done our part. Now, let’s call the white wolf and invite him to the party.
Angel strode into his cell and brought out the cell phone. The other Weres started to leave their cells to come into his, standing about and waiting for the call to be answered.
When Xavier picked the call on the other end, a collective sigh resounded in the cell block.
“I have been right about you twice now—” Angel said, quite relieved that Xavier had got on the program and did not disappoint. The alternative was for them to break out themselves and they were on Antonio Rufus' tuff and would not get far without help.
“It's nice to know you made it back,” Xavier said. Angel thought he loved that even on phone, Xavier's voice somewhat showed his strong yet compassionate character. He decided to put the phone in speaker mode just so the others could hear him too and be encouraged that help was definitely coming.
“We barely did, thanks to your men, nobody died today,” Angel said.
“You sound tired,” Xavier said with concern. Angel felt tears pooling behind his eyelids. He shook his head to keep his emotions at bay.
“You would be in my shoes, especially after surviving what we did today and getting back here only to be faced with another kind of death. Trust me, I am able to speak to you now because I had help—”
“You have an insider?”
“You can call it that—” Angel replied, feeling guilty and not willing to talk about Nadia with Xavier especially when the others were listening in.
“How is Faelan?” Xavier asked.
“Who is Faelan?” Angel asked, a deep frown furrowing his thick eyebrows.
