Chapter 25: Chapter 25

New me, new us

Elle's POV

I was about to open the door when Belle came in. "Oh my Goodness, please try to explain what has happened. I'm so confused. What have I become? Am I not human anymore and what happened to Elijah? He cannot seem to wake. Please help me, I am so confused."

I pleaded her as I knelt with my hands holding my face.

Belle looked down at me with her sorry eyes and helped me up.

"Elle, you have somehow become one of us. You and Elijah went through an unexplainable event. His body was on trance as soon as you healed him with your kiss, that is all I know. He tried to explain to us what lead to you getting unconscious and then he fainted too. You have both been unconscious for a whole two weeks. We have brought you back on Rignau, knowing that this hospital would offer you the best treatment possible. They have tested your blood and it seems like the doctors think you have become one with each other. He has your blood and you have his, meaning that you are both human and Ragnons at the same time."

She sat on the chair next to Elijah, clearing her throat. I stared motionless at her not knowing what to say.

"Look, it is said that many years ago we were under the rule of a great king and queen. They had abilities like every common Ragnon but they had something more. They had what it is called vinculum between them and this was an ability no one had either before them or after. We know very little about it. Somehow you have the same thing like king Dean and Queen Sienna. It is a possibility that my family is connected to them. They lived for over two thousand years and they had just one daughter. Whilst growing up, she received a lot of attention from doctors, checking if her parents' ability has passed over to her. She eventually got married and had kids of her own. But as the generations kept going on they stripped themselves off from their royalty duties and wanted to live like common people. They have tested Elijah's blood, and yours and you seem to have the same blood type. You became half human half Ragnon and he has become half human and half Ragnon as well."

"Does that mean that I have acquired abilities like you?" I asked as I sat down on the bedside, trying to understand.

"Yes, in fact you already have some of the skills according to the blood test. They have passed down from Elijah's genes," She explained.

I stood up and walked back towards the mirror. This time I observed myself more intently. My body looked more fit, more toned and muscled more like Belle's figure. I have grown a little taller and my ears were a little pointed. Though I looked tougher, I wondered if I would ever be able to return home without receiving any looks. I had nothing human left in me, I thought to myself. I sighed and started sobbing, knowing that this change will effect everything I ever worked for all my life.

Suddenly I felt my skin tingle and I started to shift. What was happening? The pain was becoming more superior but then it stopped abruptly. I looked back at the mirror in shock and saw that I have changed back in human form again. My blue eyes, my orange hair. Everyone in the room stared in awe.

"Oh wow!" Belle said surprised.

"How?" I gasped.

I looked back at Belle, observing her astonished face.

"This is nothing I have seen before" she said, holding an arm over her chest.

In a split second, I felt myself shift again in Ragnon form, but this time it was faster and painless. My body was getting adapted to the transition every time I changed. I figured it was possible for me to transition on my own will somehow but I was still new at this. I smiled at myself through the mirror, now realising that this was not a curse, but an opportunity to blend with everyone I loved.

The fear that I had a second ago faded and I was suddenly feeling good, more like confident in my skin. I was now part of my favourite two worlds. I turned to look at Belle and Jean that were holding their mouths wide with astonishment. I felt better knowing that I can be human whenever I liked and in Ragnon form as I pleased.

My eyes shifted towards Elijah's and my excitement melted, knowing that he was yet to wake. I walked towards him and I closed my eyes as I held his hand tightly, when I saw a vision telling me to kiss his forehead to help him wake up. I was confused for a second but something told me to do it.

I bowed down to kiss his forehead. For a moment, nothing happened, but then there was luminous light coming from his body. I stood back in shock, thinking that I made the situation even worse but then, as the light was fading, I noticed he started to gain his conscience back. I turned my head towards Belle and Jean.

"It worked. But how? I had a vision in my head telling me to kiss him. Is this something. normal?" I asked.

Belle and Jean looked at each other with a confused look. Belle shook her head.

"Wow. Nothing is normal with you two," She exclaimed.

Elijah grabbed hold of my hand as he opened his eyes. I turned towards him and saw the most beautiful eye colour. Turquoise just like mine. We had matching hair and eyes. Belle and Jean couldn't believe it.

"What happened? Where am I?" he mumbled trying to sit down.

"Oh, oh, relax. Give yourself a minute. We have both been like this for a long time."

I explained what happened and he was stunned. "So you can change into human form whenever you like? Does that mean that I can change too? If you say that I am half-human as well as half Ragnon, then somehow I can become human, right?" He asked staring at me hoping to give him an answer.

"I don't know, but there is only one way to find out."

I closed my eyes and spoke to myself. "Come on, show me something," I felt myself drift into a vision.

I saw what seems like a part of our future that gave me the answer to what I needed to know.

"Close your eyes Elijah. You must feel it within your bones," I suggested.

Elijah stared at me for a while then he stood up to get closer. He lifted his right arm to his forehead and then looked at his sister and Jean.

"What is happening to us?" He grumbled hoping that he gets an easy answer. But we all remained quiet for a while.

"We should get going," I said trying to break the silence.

"We are awake and well anyways, right?" I glanced at Elijah, to back me up.

"I suggest you stay a bit longer so that they will do a bit more testing that would help identify who you two have now become. They think that you have unique abilities and they don't know everything yet. They only know that you are bonded so far just like the story I have told you about the king and queen."

Belle tried to convince us to stay but I didn't want anyone to make us their guinea pigs or their experiment. It didn't feel safe.

I looked at Elijah and as I started to speak I realised that somehow I was communicating telepathically.

"Wow! That's new. Listen, we can't let them know," I told him telepathically.

Elijah stared at me with a confused look but didn't utter a word.

"Don't tell anyone about this. I don't want the doctors to know more than they already know," I continued as I stared right into his eyes with no emotion.

"Is everything ok?" Jean asked looking at us with a confused expression.

Both Elijah and I looked at their direction and said "yeah, sure we are," then we looked back at each other chuckling.

"We are not staying Belle. We feel good enough and we don't want anyone to poke us any further," I said.

"Fine, as long as you feel ok," she said, now facing the door.
