Chapter 18: Chapter 18

The Birth

Elijah's POV

Elle was checking Belle's heart every few minutes and read her pulse. She was doing very well so far. I felt numb every time I hear my sister in pain as I felt helpless. I wished my mum was here to help out. She has helped give birth to many babies. It was her job and she loved it. I knew Belle wanted to come home to be in mum and dad's bedroom so she could smell their scent and feel like they are there with her during her pain.

Jean's POV

My wife looked so beautiful and courageous. I could not leave her side for even a second and was hoping that everything goes well. She put her hair up in a high scruffy bun to keep it away from her face as she was sweating a lot. I have told her many times to go to hospital but she refused each time. I was hoping that everything will go well. My babies health are in the hands of Elle and as I watched her work I felt like she was doing the best she could, possibly was taking care of her even better then if Belle decided to go to hospital. I held her hand and let her squeeze the pain away, almost feeling my hand getting numb.

It has already been hours since she started feeling the contractions coming. I was afraid her heart would not resist any longer but I knew that the process is long. It was almost dark and that was not good. We would not be able to see a thing. I looked at Elijah.

"What can we do? Its getting way to dark. We need light to be able to see clearly," I said.

Elijah stared at nothing for a few seconds, then rushed outside. I wondered what he was going to do. looked back at Belle and smiled at her, as I knelt down to kiss her forehead. She closed her eyes and breathed slowly.

Belle's POV

I was feeling very tired at this point. The sun was setting and Jean was right. We would not be able to see. I didn't think of that before. The pain was getting worse but I was so exhausted that my eyes closed for a few minutes. I could feel Elle checking my heart beat again and heard her mumble something.

Elijah came back after a few minutes and was holding a few thick branches he picked from under the trees. He placed them around the room. Then I saw him going to the kitchen and came back with another piece of wood that had its tip on fire and touched each branch so they turn on. We all could see much better.

"Somethibg I saw in a movie back on earth," he grinned, feeling proud of himself.

Elle's Pov

"You are almost ready Belle. Courage," I told her as I nodded at her.

She nodded back and I could see that she felt better, knowing that it was almost time.

"Ten centimeters dilated," I announced after a while.

"Are you ready to push?" I asked her as I looked straight in her eyes.

"Yes, I am super ready," she answered with a grin as she knew that soon the pain will go.

"Ok let's try it out. Get yourself ready," I encouraged.

She lifted up half her body to have only her lower back and butt resting on the bed with her legs apart.

"Ready? Push," I announced.

She pushed and let go after a bit. "Good, that was great," I encouraged. " let's try again, but this time you need to keep pushing for a bit longer."

She pushed again as instructed and I felt the first baby's head ready to come out on the next push.

"Very good, Belle. Give me another longer push this time, will you?" She nodded and pushed and screamed out to the top of her lungs.

"Yeeees, yeees woow, there you go. I can see the head. Keep going."

I pulled the baby out and I heard the baby's first cry. I felt a tear running down my cheeks as I handed the baby to mama.

"It's a Boy. Look, it is a boy."

I smiled and cried happily as I was so content that everything was going so well. Belle held the baby tight to her chest as tears ran down her face.

"Hello baby, I'm so pleased to meet you. I will take good care of you, I promise."

She looked at Jean that was also crying with joy. He leaned in to kiss Belle on the lips and touched the baby's head. I turned to look at Elijah and saw him wipe away the tears running down his cheeks. Then Belle felt another contraction coming and Jean took the baby away from her hands so that she gets ready to push out the next one. He handed the baby to Elijah so that he could help out Belle by holding her back as he rubbed it to release some of the pain she was having. Elijah wrapped the baby with a towel and stared at him smiling.

Belle's POV

As soon as I was ready I pushed hard. I could feel the baby moving forward inside me.

"I see the head. This one should be easier," she told me.

"Try again. Push," I took a long breath and held it as I pushed as hard as I could.

I pressed my teeth together as I could feel a contraction coming and then I looked up at the ceiling and screamed out to push harder until I heard the scream of my second baby.

"Well done Belle. It is finally over. You have another son. Oh Gosh, they are so identical," she said as she cried with joy.

At this point everyone was crying with joy. I held out my hand so she could give me the baby and as I looked at him I realised that it was true. They were identical twins. Elijah returned the first baby to Jean and offered a towel to me to wrap the second baby with.

Elle's POV

I went to the bathroom to fill up a wash basin to give the babies a bath. I took it with me in the bedroom and rested it on a small table next to Belle. I took one of the babies from her arms and washed him gently. I wrapped him around with a clean towel and handed the baby to Jean. I washed the second baby and gave him to Elijah.

"Would you like me to help you take a shower," I offered to Belle, "or would you rather rest and then help you take a shower tomorrow?"

She slowly moved off the bed and winced as she felt pain rushing through her whole body.

"I'm tired and I would like to sleep. But I must take a shower first," she said couragously.

I helped her walk into the shower as she dragged her feet and washed her. I dried her up, dressed her with a blue white gown and moved her to the bedroom that she used before she moved with Jean. The boys brought the babies to her and laid them on the bed next to her. She slept peacefully whilst Jean decided to remain awake just in case, so he brought a chair and put it right next to her.
