Chapter 77: Chapter 77
Bryan was seething. How had all the people in his life betrayed him the way they had? Sharon carried his child for so long and the girl was almost three and yet she never told him even after their wedding. All she could do was lay accusations at him. Devon that he had taken as a sister came between him and Sharon, driving her into the waiting arms of another though he may have been dying. It made no difference to him because those years, she could have been with him together with his daughter.
David was no exception as he tried to take his place had Sharon not refused, they would have been married and David would have given his daughter his own name and posed as her father and he would have been nine the wiser. Why had everyone thought to betray him this way? Had he really merited it? Was he actually the monster, the beast they were making him put to be? And now that he had finally found out about his daughter, his pregnant wife had run off with her and his baby in her womb. Where was he going to start to look for them?
He could not even express very well, the joy he felt to find out that Deborah was actually his daughter. No wonder he had felt such connections with her. Blood was indeed thicker than water.
He decided that since there was no relatives that she had around, they must be staying in a hotel and he started with their photographs going from one hotel to the other.
He went through hell going from one hotel to the other. He had people working for him including the police force and yet they could not find Sharon or her daughter. He kept wondering what to do and she was not picking her calls else her phone would have been tracked to her present location.
He had asked Gabriel again and again if there was any relative of theirs they had may have gone to stay with but Gabriel didn't know of any such person.
He gave Bryan the address of Sharon's parents and when he got there, found that they were not there either and when asked what the problem was, Bryan promised that they would come soon to see them and make them happy.
Bryan was restless. How was he going to find them if they did not want to be found?
He felt that Sharon should be spank. Why was she always fleeing? Even a child does not flee as often as she had decided to flee.
He recalled his visit to David and though he felt remorseful, he was not really sorry that he had said all that he said.
How could a man who called himself his cousin and a man of the world allow a woman like Sharon no matter how fond he was if her to lead him into doing the wrong thing in the name of keeping her confidence?
He knew that the baby was his and for three years, they kept the sectlret from him. He did now t relent after the birth' if the baby and tell him. Let it now be that he was the one who was not interested. His freedom meant so much to him that he did not want to be saddled with a baby and then he would have had cause to tell him to his face that he was less than a man since he could make a woman pregnant and then not want to live up to his responsibilities'.
But he just assumed that he was not going to be interested. Can you just imagine. After Sharon left, people in the bank must have come to know how smitten he was with her because how it affected him, yet David had not been touched enough to yell him about his child. It just might have given him hope rather than the hopelessness and helplessness he had felt that she had left him.
He had not been able to pretend because he realised that he had waited too late to confess his feelings to her, it just might have made a difference and he kept imagining that she was with another man and that was a thought he could not live with.
It took a lot of effort and manliness to pull himself together but he could not get rid of the bitterness in him and yet there was someone close to him who saw him experiencing all these and could not help give him hope and was he to blame for telling him to his face that he had acted wickedly and most probably out of jealousy?
Oh Deborah, My daughter! She was even named after his late wife and yet that was not enough for him.
How could he live now without his daughter? Little wonder that the both of them got connected easily. The love and acceptance had been instant. It had been because they were relayed. Because they were father and daughter.
He supposed that he owed Gabriel a whole lot of thanks. They had not been the best of friends, in fact they had set out hating each other and yet he had braved his cousin's fury and had come directly to him and told him about the recent pregnancy. It was true that he had not actually believed him at first but since it was going to give him the opportunity to see Sharon again, he had come visiting and found out for himself that not only was it the truth but that Sharon had not planned telling him at all and it had hurt like crazy though he would never let her know how much she had hurt him by trying to with old that news from him and he did not doubt that the next thing she would have done was to flee and come back after giving birth and pass it on as another man's child and if the child took her colouring, who would doubt her and he would have kept suffering, not being any wiser.
His coming to the house as a result of the news of her pregnancy was what had made him come face to face with his daughter. Else he might have waited forever for her to tell him about her.
That night he could not sleep and he was desperate. The search was going to continue the next day. She had gone on a private transport, which was not known, else the transport company would have been contacted for information concerning where one of their cabs took Sharon. She had executed her flight wisely.
He counted the hours until the early hours of the morning before he fell into a troubled sleep.
The next day, he tried her line again and was surprise to hear it ring and after a while it was picked but to his surprise and pleasure, it was not Sharon who answered but his dearest long list daughter and he made plans with her that they both executed effectively.
