Chapter 73: Chapter 73

Sharon felt relieved that she had confessed the circumstances behind her marriage to Gerhard to Bryan but she did not think that she could withstand his fury. She had thought that he would be happy with her confession but he had left her in anger and she was still confused but she could not, not anymore. She had to go away for a few days, take a well deserved holiday and not tell anyone where she had gone to. Till he calmed down.

She knew that he had planned their holiday or honeymoon, whichever he wished to call it to Serville but she couldn't, not yet anyway. She had to gather her thoughts together.

Do, the next day, immediately Bryan left, she packed her things and with the help of one of the servants, she left the house with her daughter in tow.

She knew that the servants being loyal to Bryan would call him immediately to tell him about her departure.

That was the least of her problems because she had just done what she did on an impulse, she had not thought of where to go to but there were places and there were hotels far from here where he would not find them easily.

Also Deborah kept looking at her accusingly until she could no longer tolerate it anymore.

'Whst?' she asked a bit harshly.

'Where are we going to mum?'

'Somewhere comfortable ', she replied not looking at her.

'But I was comfortable in dad's house', Deborah said and her words shocked Sharon at first as she wondered how she knew that Bryan was her father, then she remembered that by reason of her marriage to Bryan, she was automatically his daughter and her racing heart calmed.

'I know you were but I have to stay away from the house for sometime to think', she said. She needed to regain her equilibrium. She knew she was just deceiving herself, no matter how long she stayed away from him, it would not stop her uncontrollable reaction to him. She was already missing him but she still had to leave. He might probably learn to value her a little. She felt that she had been giving herself too cheaply to him of late,consenting to his every whim and not being able to resist his conditions.

'Are we running away, mum? Has dad annoyed you already and you want to run away from him?"

Sharon was beginning to be scared of this girl who was Bryan's daughter. She seemed to possess the same intuition and attention to detail that her father had. She would have been proud of that but today was not the day she felt such maternal pride.She was too exhausted for her tantrums.

'Dad is a good man and he is very rich. You should not run from him. Tell him what he has done wrong like you do with me and uncle Gabriel. I do not want to lose him now that I have finally got a dad'.

It touched her. 'You are not going to lose him. All I ask is just a few days away from home so that I can think. We shall go back soon. Will you give me those few days I am asking?' Sharon drew her close, roughening her hair so like her father's with her hand.

'Promise?'

'Promise.Cross my heart and hope to fie'.

Deborah laughed and hugged her mother.

'Okay but only a few days'.

Sharon could not trust her voice to speak, so she just nodded, smiling at her.

Her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and as she expected, she saw that it was from Bryan. She did not want to pick the call but when her daughter looked at her questioningly, she picked it and told the caller that they were far from the house and could not come back at the moment .

'Tell me where you are and I shall come get you', he said controlling the anger that Sharon knew was simmering in him.

'It is not possible. You will just have to wait for us to come back to you'.

'Damnit. You are now my wife and not some random woman I am chasing all over the place.. Your place is here with me and don't you forget you are carrying my baby'.

'This is the reason, I never would have told you about the baby but for the chatterbox that is my cousin. But not to worry, I know the baby is the only thing you care about and I will ensure that I do all in my ability to keep it safe. It is my baby too after all. But as for coming back now, don't waste your breath because I am not going to', she said bitterly.

'I will turn this town apart and I shall find you and bring you back and maybe, I shall restrict your movement since that is what you are asking of me'. He said it through his teeth and Sharon felt a shiver of fear down her spine. She knew that he could do what he had said he would. With the determination he has,he might just find them before nightfall and then her situation would be worse than it already was.

He disconnected and Sharon threw her phone on the car.

Surprisingly, her daughter made no comment and in gratitude, with tears stinging her eyes, Sharon kept roughening her daughter's hair.

She knew also that the servant who helped her would be in trouble and it was going to be because of her.

Bryan would be mad and he would turn the city upside down until he found them like he had said. She thought hard and wondered where they would go and be safe from him for a few days.

She went to Lake Peak and found a hotel in a remote area of the place where she lodged with her daughter.

Deborah tried to look happy for her mother, afterall it was just going to be a few days but she was not very happy. She kept missing Bryan.

Sharon tried to make her feel good, giving her all that she wanted but she could see that her daughter was just forcing her happiness and she felt really bad about it. But she was determined to stay there for at a few days.
