THIRTY FOUR

A HOLE IN THE HEART

Vincent was quite shocked when Adam raised his voice at him for the first time or probably it might have been happening during the years he had lost.

"What are you talking about?" Vincent asked.

"Figure it out yourself and I hope you won't regret it afterward or probably too late" Adam replied, and walked out he met the doctor outside and asked him to go see Vincent himself as he was done with him.

Jessica overhead his conversation with the doctor and wondered what's wrong but he neglected that and went to meet the maids outside since she is the new queen there are some new rules they needs to know for sure.

Cora had just finished eating all by herself at the dinning table without anyone. She wondered where Axel is since morning, he wasn't even on the bed with her when she woke up this morning.

Her hearts are heavy at the thought of her father missing or probably dead somewhere but someone isn't telling the truth.

"Ma'am" Venna walked in and bowed.

"I didn't call for you" Cora replies, innocently. Venna looked perplexed by Cora cold attitude, her eye are red and puffy like she had cried all night.

She remembered last night with Axel and was quick to regret it because she doesn't know Cora would be like this.

"Axel had sent me to you, ma'am" She replied.

"My husband? What's the problem" Cora asked, as she extended her hands outward and opened palms.

"He had left with Alpha Jacob this morning on a trip to Blood moon pack to see Alpha Maeve for an alliance and won't be back till the next day" She replied.

"Oh! but why didn't he tell me before he left?" Cora muttered, but Venna could hear her.

"You looked disturbed is anything the matter?" Venna asked.

"Me? Nothing, take the plate to the kitchen" Cora commanded.

"Okay ma'am" She packed the plate but just as she was about to leave Cora stopped her.

"Is anything the matter, ma?" She asked politely.

"Yeah, I'm just pondering over something and a question crawled in. How did you know about my father disappearance even before it was announced and did you see anybody go to the prison room yesterday apart from the Alpha and..." She paused and stopped talking.

"Just the Alpha" She concluded her words, even though she suspected Axel she still doesn't want to thrown a tantrum because her life is at risk.

Now she knows the feeling Laura felt when her father died and someone she least expected and trusted stole everything from her because of jealousy but it was too late to amend things. Her father was gone!.

"No ma'am" Venna replied, fast with lips trembling and that caught Cora's attention.

"Why do I smell Axel around you?" Cora asked, sniffing the air around and Venna moved back uncomfortably.

"I had seen him before he left this morning and we came in contact" She lied, and Cora believed.

"You can go" She said to her and immediately Venna disappeared finally free to detective Cora questions.

As she sat down remembering her father, Laura an idea rushed up in her head and even though she wasn't too sure of what she is about to do.

Since Axel and Jacob isn't around then this is the best time to go to the Blood pack before they return. Luckily the Blood pack is closer to the Silver pack and it can be travelled in a day to and fro but completely exhausting.

She ran straight off to her room and Venna who had been peeping to get a reaction from her saw this and wondered what she is up to so she asked one of the unranked maid to keep her eye on Cora and report any straight movement to her.

Cora had rushed into the room and grabbed a small bag for her clothes and other necessary stuffs. Her father had been so great to the kingdom yet he went missing and nobody cared. She remembered Laura crying her eye out after she was thrown out after her father death and that's a sign that silver pack have high rate of discriminating the women and it has to stop!

She was part of it in the past but now she is ready to make amendment and asks for her bestfriend apology because she needs a friends that understand her so much and only Laura does to be honest. She had no friends apart from her in the silver pack and after she left her father was one until he was silent like the rest.

Axel is behind all this and he is her husband but he might have gone extreme to kill her father. She wasn't sure but isn't ready to spare her father murderer and cover him up with the name husband.

After packing her stuffs, she knew it would be hard getting away from the guards and Venna that is sneaking around so she mind linked Laura for the first time after she had been kicked out.

"What the hell are you doing in my head!" Laura fired at her.

"Relax, girlfriend" Cora replied.

"I'm not your friend anymore don't call me that!" Laura warned.

"Comm'n, ain't you going to be a bit lenient with me after my father's death. I'm sneaking to the Blood pack in the next few minutes and I want you to pick me up before the guards finds out I'm gone" She explained to Laura but that only made her more mad.

"Are you crazy? Coming to where? To cause more troubles right?. You better don't even try it"

"Laura, I'm sorry. I will be back today before anyone finds out I'm missing"

"That's not my business, sort things out yourself" Laura replied.

"Axel and Jacob are gone. Please I really need to meet you and tell you some new things you might be unaware of about Axel" Cora cajoled.

"Like seriously? you just got married and you are already speaking ills of him around?" Laura questioned.

"Laura please, I need to meet you. I'm sorry and I'm ready to amend things" She begged.

"Looks like marriage is bringing the best out of you. Don't meet me at the palace, I will direct you to a place so we can talk" Laura replied.

"Why not the palace?" She asked.

"It's a long story but let stay off the palace now" Laura replied and she kicked Cora out of her mind and went back to what she was doing which is probably doing dishes or clearing the garden.

Cora grabbed her bag and passed the back door out of the palace then she acted like she was going to see a friend at the outskirts town and flew off from the silver pack. It was a stressful journey and finally she got to where Laura had directed her to and fortunately she was there already.

"I didn't know a betrayal like you can show face of remorseful one day" Laura said, as she watched her pants heavily and rested on a fallen trees on the floor.

"That's not a good welcoming but I deserve it though" Cora replied, and she dumped her bag on the floor.

"You brought your stuff's, I thought you are going back today!" Laura asked, looking at her suspiciously.

"Laura, relax. I'm going back today just wanted to see you for something important and also to apologise"

"Then start doing that already!" Laura fired, to her surprise.

"I'm sorry, Laura I didn't mean all I did to you and..." She was interrupted by Laura.

"But now you've come to realize what the problem is after your father vanished and you are left all alone?. if you think we are still going to be friends then you must be joking" Laura slammed her words at her and she was quiet.

"You can't pretend to be sorry when the only reason you are here is because of..."

"Axel killed your father and blamed it all on Lorenzo and kicked him out at the perfect time. I thought my father was been generous to give our his title but he was declared missing that day and even if a fool knowns it's not a coincidence" Cora replied, finally catching her breathe.

"What are you talking about?" Laura asked.

"You heard me right, he confessed all this to me because he thought I was his wife now and I would accept his flaws. I was fine with it but definitely not my father" Cora replied.

Laura looked completely shocked, her eye widened and her heart went far trying to process it all. This same Axel came to her like a saint and told her all type of lies just to get words out of her. No wonder the next day after confessing to Axel, Jacob showed up and ruined everything. Lorenzo isn't the only one missing but Tracy too and she needs to find them already.

"If I'm right, you want me to be involved in your mission to find your father?" Laura crossed her arms around.

"Laura, I'm not here to force you. I just need to let you know that Axel isn't who you think he is and he won't let things off easily. He is dangerous" She replied.

Laura looked at her for a while suspiciously hoping this isn't one of her pranks or a way to deceive her.

"And why should I trust you?. I don't even care about Lorenzo" She shrugged.

"He is my father!"

"He knows the murderer of my father and kept his mouth shut for years so what?" Laura fired back, and Cora was quiet.

"I know my father wasn't good enough but atleast Tracy is involved in this too and I'm sure Vincent can help too" Cora shrugged.

"Speaking of Vincent, he doesn't even recognize me and you think he would help us?" Laura spilled out before she realized it wasn't another secret to say out.

"Wait, Vincent doesn't recognize you?. Is that even possible because that strong Alpha can go weak for weeks of you ain't around" Cora chuckled.

Laura was tempted to tell her everything but she is still yet to believe whatever she got to say.

"Jacob and Axel won't be back till tonight evening but I don't think we can carry out any operation for now but there is this maid in the palace that is having an affair with Axel, I think she knows something"

"Axel is having an affair?" Laura exclaimed in shock.

"I'm not surprised he was with her all night and even exposed himself more to her" Cora replied.

"What the hell?!" Laura cussed at him.

"Laura, is anything you want to tell me. We are friends right, I admit my mistakes in the past and the last thing I will want to do is hurt you all over again. Please, is anything the matter with Vincent?" She asked, Laura remained silent while Cora await for her own side of the story.

"I..." She paused, as she felt desolated.

"After I returned from the silver pack I felt sick and it was confirmed I was pregnant for Vincent of course but unfortunately his ex- wife had something to do with him while I was away and currently for him. I was hurt because I trusted him so much and didn't expect something like that to happen. I'm been honest, I told him to go back" She sobbed, and Cora heart broke into pieces on seeing her state.

"I was so mad and I used my powers on him and he hit his head so hard on the tree but luckily he survived and lost the memory of six years ago. He doesn't even remember my existence and all he cared about his Jessica, his ex- wife. He is not aware of the fact she cheated and chased him out of the pack and now I have to act as a low life maid according to his mother instructions to get me out of his son's life" She cried, as she explained everything to Cora who was touched by her story.

Looks like everyone got a hole in their heart they are treating secretly.
