Chapter 98: Chapter 98

"What did she say?" Cole asked, finally breaking the silent omen between them.

Amy shrugged. "Something about coming to congratulate you on your engagement," she replied with a little smile.

He snickered. "I'll call Dane to put a restraining order on her. She will not be able to come to the house again,"

"Very well then. I think that will be better," she replied. "How's the presentation coming up?" She asked, changing the topic immediately.

He raked his fingers in his hair. "Going pretty rough," he replied with a chuckle.

She walked out of the closet, and back to the room, she fell flat on the bed with a sigh. "Have you had dinner?" She asked him.

"Not yet. I'll do that once I'm done sorting out these documents," he responded. "What about you?" He asked.

"I'm full. Kayla and I went to a restaurant after we were done shopping. But, I'm considering taking some fruit salad later,"

He chuckled. "Do whatever you please, love,"

"You should get back to your documents, you know," she replied with a smile.

He groaned. "I would prefer staring at your face all night long than going back to those documents,"

She giggled. "The week is about to roll by,"

"Yeah," he responded and raked his hair with his fingers again. "I better go now,"

"Okay,"

"And eat something other than fruit salad," he added.

She chuckled. "I'll think about it,"

He gave a dramatic roll of his eyes and she laughed. "Good night, love,"

"Sleep well, baby," he replied and the call dropped.

Amy sighed as she got out of the bathrobe and walked over to the cornered wardrobe to pick out a nightwear. She walked down the stairs and headed to the kitchen. She made some fruit salad and headed to the living room to watch some telenovelas.

She chatted with Kayla as she watched TV and dug into her fruit salad. She was done eating and she returned to the kitchen and tidied up the dish. Returning back to the living room, she kept on texting with Kayla.

A while later, she heard the house landline rang too. She was confused as to which she would answer. She decided to answer the landline as she wondered who would be at the door when the time was almost Nine.

"Yes," she said into the landline.

"Luna, it's Dane. There's a delivery guy outside. He says the alpha sent him,"

Amy was bewildered. She and Cole spoke a while ago and he didn't tell her about getting anything for her.

'Perhaps, he wanted to surprise you,' her wolf said.

She thought about it and saw a point in what her wolf said. "Let him in," she replied and the call drop.

She walked over to the sofa to pick up her phone and text Cole.

'Did you order something?' she texted, but there was no response from him. Just then, the doorbell rang and she walked over to the door and opened it.

Truly, there was a delivery guy standing before her. "Ma'am, here's your order from alpha Cole," he said. He was holding a box of pizza and a chicken nugget pack.

"Oh, thank you," she replied with a little smile as she took the meal package from him.

She got back inside and placed them on the dining table. Her phone beeped and she looked at it. It was a message from Cole.

'Yes, I did. It's for you. I know you would take anything else aside from the fruit salad,' he responded to her earlier text.

She smiled as she shook her head and texted back. 'That's so sweet of you. Thank you,' she replied.

She went back to sit in the living room with the pizza and chicken nugget as she watched more telenovelas.

The sun was blinding when Shantel walked into Darrel's Corp. She took off her sunshades as she walked towards the elevator, but she was immediately stopped by a guard. "Sorry, Miss, you have to follow protocol," he said.

She glared at him. "What do you mean?"

"You have to go to the reception to confirm you have an appointment. Without that, I'm afraid you can't proceed further," he replied.

"I don't need an appointment. Do you know who I am?" She demanded.

He was expressionless. "I don't need to know you. Please follow the rules of this organization. It's either you head to the reception or I walk you out," he warned.

She snickered dryly as she walked over to the reception.

"Hello, I'm here to see Cole," she said. There was a time when she didn't need to seek permission to see Cole, but now, he has forbade her from coming to his office.

The receptionist smiled at her. She knew Shantel to be the ex lover of Cole. "I'm sorry, but alpha Cole is not on seat,"

"When is he coming in?" She asked.

"In about a week time," the receptionist responded.

Shantel was confused. "In about a week time? Why?" She queried.

"He's on a business trip and won't be back for some days," the receptionist replied.

"Oh," Shantel exclaimed softly in understanding. "Do you have an idea where he went to?" She asked, peering into the receptionist eyes.

"I'm sorry I can't divulge such information," the receptionist replied.

Shantel looked around to be sure no one was looking at her. She brought out a few dollars and stretched it over to her. "For a little token would you?" She asked.

The receptionist quickly took the dollars from her and smiled. "Sure. He's in New York. That's all I know," she replied.

Shantel smiled back. "Thank you. You've been helpful," she said as she walked away. She got out of Darrel's Corp and dialled her assistant, Sam's number. "Sam, get me on the next flight to New York," she said immediately Sam picked.

'Did the presentation go well?' Amy texted Cole while seated in her office space.

'Well, yes. I've gone through it with the investors, though it's not over yet, I feel I'll be home before weekend,' he texted back.

'Sounds great. I can't wait to have you back home,' she texted again.

Just then, Liam walked up to her. "Amy," he said, drawing her attention.

"Sir," she was becoming accustomed to talking to him formally during work hours. She dropped her phone on the desk. "Do you need anything?" She asked.

He shook his head. "Not at all. I just came to tell you that I'm heading out for lunch and that whoever comes to see me would have to wait," he said.

"Oh, alright," she replied.

He nodded and walked away.

She picked up her phone once more and checked Cole's message.

'Me too, love. I need your warm arms around me,' it read.

She sent him a sticker. 'Don't keep me waiting for too long,'

' I won't,' he responded.

'I've got to go now. I'll text you later. I love you,' she texted back and turned off her phone as she began to tap away on her laptop.

Liam walked into the cafe and saw Shantel sitting close to the window. She was already waiting for him. She was the reason why he stepped out of the office in the disguise for lunch. She had texted him saying it was urgent she spoke to him. Knowing how persistent she was if she did not get her way, he gave in.

She smiled when he walked up to her, but he didn't reciprocate.

"What was so urgent that you had me leaving the office?" He asked her as he sat down.

"Come on, get a cup of coffee first before we talk. We are not strangers, are we?" She asked.

He stared at her. "I shouldn't be seen with you, now that Cole has cut all ties with you," he replied.

She chuckled as she leaned forward. "Speaking of Cole, why don't we sabotage his wedding with Amy,"

"Excuse me?" Liam was dumbfounded by what she just said.

She leaned back in her seat, more serious than before. "Cut the crap, Liam. I know you want the same thing,"

"And what gives you the impression that I want this foolish idea of yours?" He inquired.

"I know you like Amy," she responded and Liam stared at her, flabbergasted. She stared back at him, her eyes not leaving his face.
