Chapter 79: Chapter 79

"What do you think of this dress?" Amy asked Kayla as she showed her the ruffled sleeved wedding dress. They were shopping for Kayla's wedding.

Kayla's eyes brightened. "It's nice, but it's a no for me," she said.

Amy groaned. "We've literally checked out almost all the dresses in this boutique, Kay and you're yet to choose any dress!"

"I want the best dress, Amy and I'm not finding it," Kayla replied, going through the weddings dresses one more time.

"Perhaps, I should bring some others we have kept in the other room?" The store attender asked.

"Yes, sure. That will be perfect," Amy reply with a smile and the store attender returned her smile and left. Amy turned to Kayla. "Ensure that you pick one of those dresses she'll bring. She literally turned this store upside down just to find a dress befitting you,"

"Okay, okay. Don't go full mama on me," Kayla said with a chuckle.

Amy laughed and was just about to say something when her phone beeped. She picked it up from the couch and saw that it was a text message from Cole.

She smiled as she read the message.

"Hmm, what has got you smiling like that?" Kayla asked suspiciously.

"Oh, it's just Cole," she replied, dropping her phone back on the couch.

"Hmm, and what does he want?" She asked.

"He wants to take Tris and I out for dinner," Amy said.

Kayla squinted her eyes at her friend. "So, you guys are like officially back now?" She asked.

Amy shrugged. "I guess,"

"Are you happy?" Kayla asked.

Amy nodded. "I am, but at some point, I feel like I'm not allowed to be this happy,"

Kayla sighed and walked closer to her. She held her shoulders. "You deserve all the happiness in this world, Amy. Though, I still have my reservations about Cole, but, I'm happy that you're happy and for that sake, I would try not to antagonize him every time," she said with a smile.

Amy smiled back. "He's a good guy, Kay,"

Kayla let go of her shoulders and grinned. "I bet he is, but I'm still not going to be all friendly with him," she said and Amy chuckled, just as the attender came back with three more dresses.

"These are the best I could find," she said and Kayla rolled her eyes until Amy picked out one of the dresses that caught her fancy.

"Kay, check this out," she said and Kayla was forced to look at her. Immediately her eyes fell on the dress, her mouth opened in awe.

The pure white dress was slim fitted to the waist and then, forming a ball gown downwards. It had laced sleeves that reached the wrists and some ruffled feathers along the vee necked lines of the dress. The ball shape downwards was in a design of ostrich feathers.

It was majestic and still simple in its way. Kayla fell in love with it immediately and without waiting to test the dress on her body, she beamed a smile. "I'll take it,"

"Grandma, when will mommy get back?" Tris asked Amy's mother.

"Soon, dear. Keep taking your cookies, I'm sure she'll be back anytime soon," she replied.

"Okay," he replied as he took his glass of milk. She smiled at him, pleased to know that her intuition had been right when she saw his father on TV and knew immediately he had a resemblance with her grandchild.

She might have been against Amy's pregnancy but, after the birth of Tris, she couldn't keep being angry at her any longer. Now that she knew Cole Darrel was his father, her joy knew no bounds. Her daughter had hit a jackpot. With his wealth, she knew he would take good care of Amy and Tris, but, she wondered why her daughter was still staying in her apartment instead of with Cole Darrel.

Kayla and Amy came back quite late due to their excessive shopping for the wedding. Kayla went home straight while Amy went to pick up Tris. She got to her mother's place and Tris presence was the first to grace her.

"Mommy!" He screamed happily as he ran over to hug her. "Finally," he said as he held her tightly.

Amy chuckled as she held him close. "Did you miss me?"

"Very much. Too much," he replied, not letting go.

"I miss you too, my love," she said, giggling. " Where's grandma?" She asked when he finally pulled away.

"In the back,"

"Okay. Well, your father is picking us up for dinner, so let's say goodbye to grandma and leave, okay?"

Tris beamed at the mention of his father. "Okay," he said excitedly and was just about to go call his granny, when she walked in from the back door.

"Amy, you're back," she said.

Amy nodded. "Yes, and I'll be taking Tris now. Thanks for babysitting Tris,"

"He's my grandson, you know,"

" Yes," Amy replied and turned to Tris. "Where's your backpack?"

Tris hurried over to the chair. "Here, mom," he said, picking his backpack and hurrying back to her.

"Say bye to grandma," Amy said.

"Bye, grandma," Tris said sweetly to his grandma and she smiled at him.

She turned to Amy, "Before you go, I wanted to speak to you about something,"

"Mom, that will be next time. It's late already," Amy replied, hurrying Tris out the door. "Good night, mom,"

"But, Amy..."

Amy was already out the door before her mother could say anything else. She didn't want to have a lengthy conversation with her mom, at least not now.

She got into a taxi with Tris and headed home.

Upon their arrival, they met Kayla hovering around some shopping bags. "You still haven't put those away?" Amy asked.

Kayla turned around swiftly. "Oh, these ain't for me. They're for you and Tris,"

"Who brought them?" Amy asked in skepticism.

"Cole," she replied with a small smile as she ruffled Tris hair.

Amy was astonished as she walked over to where the bags were. Inside of it was a note. FOR DINNER, I LOVE YOU. These words were written beautifully and her heart warmed.

"Aww, he shouldn't have,"

"He should have. Now go get ready while I dress Tris up. It's almost time," Kayla replied as she picked up a bag and shoved it into Amy's arms. Amy laughed.

In about an hour, Amy was dressed in a turquoise dress that hung on to her body curves. She looked like a princess straight out from a movie. She had curled her hair and the necklace she wore reflected the color of her dress.

She stepped out of her room and Tris gasped. "Mom," he began, walking closer to her. "You're so beautiful," he said, holding her hand.

"Aww, my prince charming. You look dashing," Amy replied smiling. Tris was dressed in a black tuxedo. Tris smiled sheepishly.

"Girl, you're smoking hot! If Tris could compliment you, I'm sure Cole would be swept off his feet," Kayla whistled.

Amy chuckled nervously. Just then, they heard a car pull up.

"Dad's here," Tris said, walking over to the door.

"Have a pleasant night, my dear friend," Kayla said with a smile.

"Thank you, Kay," Amy smiled back as she followed behind Tris.

Cole stepped down from the car and his eyes lit up when he saw Tris. "You do take after your father," he said with a smile and Tris grinned. Cole was about to say something when Amy walked out the door. His eyes met hers and traveled down her body. He was too stunned to speak.

Tris held his mom's hand and led her to his father. "You look... Breathtaking," Cole finally said when his hand connected with hers.

"Thank you. You look dashing as well," Amy smiled.

He couldn't stop staring at her. All he wanted now was to have her alone in his room. "Shall we?" Tris interrupted his thoughts.

"Yes," he said, moving aside and opening the door for her. He knew she would look great in the dress, but he never expected it to be so mesmerizing.

"Thank you," she said, seated.

He got Tris in the backseat, headed over to the driver's seat and drove over to an Italian restaurant.

Reservations were made already and when they got there, they were taken to their table. They had a wonderful dinner time as a family and Cole promised himself that the next dinner date, would be just Amy and him, just so he could have just wonderful moments with her.

Unknown to them all, their pictures were being taken by paparazzi.
