Chapter 71: Chapter 71

Amy stared at him like he had lost his mind. Then she burst into laughter. "You must be joking, Liam," she said as she slapped his hand playfully. "You can't possibly be interested in me. I was the nerdy girl in school, perhaps I still am. I have a child and a mate, perhaps, I still do have a mate. I'm not sure," she blabbed as she laughed.

"What am I saying? I don't even know what I'm saying anymore," she said again.

Liam smiled. "Let's get you home," he replied, knowing that she was over the top with the liquor already.

She grinned as he led her out of the bar and helped her into the car. He drove towards the direction of her home.

In a few hours, he arrived at her doorstep, holding her in his arms and knocked on the door. Kayla opened up and with her help, he got Amy into the house.

Unknown to them, Cole was parked somewhere a bit distant from the house. His knuckles had tightened on the wheels when he saw Liam holding Amy. He had been watching them and his heart burned in jealousy.

Amy fluttered her eyes open as the sun rays rested on her face. She let out a groan as she turned to the other side of the bed. Her mind was still fuzzy from last night.

"Good grief, my head is banging right now," she muttered as she dragged herself off the bed.

She placed her hand on her head as she sluggishly walked out of her room. The hangover of last night was still very much present, resulting to the headache she felt.

She got to the kitchen and met Kayla making a cup of tea. "Finally, you've gotten out of bed. I thought you would never," Kayla said as soon as she saw her.

Amy groaned. "I feel like my head is about to fall off,"

Kayla stretched a cup of ginger tea towards her. "Here, take this. It will make you feel relieved. Next time, you wouldn't go drinking heavily,"

Amy gave a wry smile as she took the cup from Kayla. "Thanks. What will I do without you?"

"Nothing," Kayla responded, grinning.

Amy took a sip from the cup and a realization dawned on her. "Hell, I forgot I have to go to work today," she said, hastening dropping the teacup.

"Relax, Firefox. Liam called already and he said you should take the day off. Besides, it's Eleven Am already. You slept in,"

"Jeez," Amy slapped her forehead, then, she remembered her son. "Oh for heaven's sake, what kind of a mother am I? What about Tris?" She asked.

"He's in school already. He gave you a kiss before he left. You were sleeping very comfortably, nobody wanted to bother you,"

Amy groaned again as she picked the cup of ginger tea. "Thank you so much, Kayla," she reiterated.

"I'm here for you. So, tell me, why did you go drinking with Liam?" Kayla asked.

Amy shrugged. "I wanted to unwind. With a lot going on, I needed liquor in my system,"

"You know, Liam brought you in and ensured you were covered up before leaving,"

Amy was bewildered. "Really?"

"Do you not remember anything?" Kayla asked, raising a brow.

"Just a little. My brain is a bit fuzzy," Amy replied, holding on to her cup as she sipped from it. She could only remember Liam saying he liked someone and that person was her. She shook the thought from her head. Perhaps, she was mixing his words. It wasn't her. She didn't hear him properly last night. She was definitely hallucinating.

"His behavior last night shows he has interests in you. I can tell,"

"What?" Amy almost choked on her tea. "No way. You're saying crazy things," she said, dropping the cup and turning away.

Kayla could tell Amy was hiding something. "Amy, what happened at that bar?" She asked suspiciously.

"Nothinggg,"

"You liar!" Kayla said after her. "You'll tell me everything," she said, but Amy hurriedly went into her bedroom and locked the door.

"You won't hide forever!" Kayla chuckled.

Cole literally barged into Liam's office when he noticed Amy was not at her duty post. Liam looked up from his laptop with a surprised look on his face.

"Cole, what..."

"What do you think you are doing, Liam?" Cole interrupted him. He wasn't smiling. Liam could tell this wasn't a pleasant visit.

Liam had a confused look. "What do you mean? I'm working... "

"Cut me that crap. You know exactly what I'm talking about,"

"If I knew I wouldn't be asking," Liam said with a frown.

"I'm not here for games, so I'll cut to the chase. Last night, you knew I wanted to talk to Amy. I needed to talk to her, explain things, yet, you took her away," Cole said. He was really hurt and angry.

"She's not ready to listen, Cole. Just give up," Liam said calmly.

Cole stared at him. "Is this a ploy to take Amy away from me? Are you trying to use my situation to your advantage?" Cole demanded.

"What the fuck, man?!" Liam raised his voice as he stood up. "Here I am trying to amend what you've just messed up,"

Cole ran his fingers through his hair. "What am I to think, uh? Amy isn't willing to let me explain and the last time, you told me if I fucked up, you wouldn't hesitate to come into Amy's life,"

"Exactly, Cole. You fucked up and that's on you. Do not accuse me of using this situation to my advantage," Liam replied, sitting down.

"Are you not?" Cole asked, staring at him and daring him to lie.

Liam stared back at him. "What if I am?"

Tris walked out of the school door and out of nowhere, fleet of cars pulled up in front of the school building. "Waoh," he exclaimed. "Who goes around with five cars at once?" He wondered out loud.

It was closing hours already and he was waiting for the school bus to take him home. Kayla had told him she wouldn't be able to pick him.

Just then, some men in black suits stepped out of the car and went towards the middle one. One of them opened it and a distinguished man in his early fifties, opened the door.

People around began to greet him respectfully and Tris wondered how important was he.

"Hello, my boy,"

Tris looked up to see the man standing close to him, looking at him with a smiling face.

"Hello," Tris replied. "Who are you?" He was tempted to ask.

He smiled. "I'm your grandfather,"

Tris was too awed and stunned to speak.
