Chapter 70: Chapter 70

Amy looked at the clock. It was Eight Pm. She stayed by the office so she would not have to go home and change. Her plan was to go with Liam for drinks and then go home once and for all.

"Amy? You haven't left already?" Liam asked in amusement as he stepped out of his office.

"Figured I'll just go from here for the drinks," she responded as she stood up, turning in his direction.

"Fair enough," he said and walked over to her. "Shall we?" He inquired with a small smile.

"I'll just pick my bag," she began to say as she picked her bag and then her phone. "Yes, we shall," she added, returning his smile.

Together, they got out of the office, up to the elevators and stepped out of the building.

Amy paused briefly when she saw the figure standing outside. Liam took notice and looked towards the direction her eyes were at.

There was Cole, standing beside his black Mercedes Benz E350 4Matic. He looked as dashing as ever, except for his pale face and sulken eyes.

Amy straightened up, paying deaf ears to her rapid beating heart and her wolf's tantrums, she walked towards Liam's car, with Liam right behind her.

Cole straightened up from his car. He was quite surprise to see Liam and Amy walking out of the company together, but he brushed the thought and his jealousy aside. He just wanted to speak with Amy. He had tried reaching her, but her number wasn't going through. It was obvious she had blocked his line.

"Amy.." he began to speak, but she raised a finger, hushing him up as she stopped.

"Stay away from me, Mr. Cole," she said.

"You can't keep tossing me away like this,"

"I can do whatever I want to do. You do not own me," she said with fiery eyes.

He narrowed his eyes. "I'm your mate, remember?"

"I can outright reject you this minute," she fired, not ready to be pulled into his manipulative web.

Cole was shocked by her words. If Amy rejects him, he knew he was done for. He would be a helpless wolf ravaging the woods. He realized he wasn't going about this the right way. "Amy, I'm sorry,"

"For what exactly?" She demanded, her nerves working up. "For fooling me? For getting close to I and my son, meanwhile you had someone else? For setting up boundaries that you broke?"

"For everything, Amy. I just need a chance to explain myself,"

" You had a lot of chances to open up to me then, but you kept quiet. You know what, Cole. I'm not in the mood for this tonight and for the last time, stay the fuck away from me," Amy fired at him and went closer to Liam's car.

He opened it up for her and she got in. Cole attempted to go after her and plead the more, but Liam stopped him.

"No, you've pleaded enough for one night," Liam said.

"Just let me talk to her," Cole's voice was pleading, but Liam shut the door and walked over to the driver's seat. He got into the car and drove off.

"Fuck!" Cole groaned as he kicked the wheel of his car.

In the car, Amy heaved deeply.

"Are you alright?" Liam asked her.

"I'm fine," she swallowed as she responded.

"Don't you think you should listen to him, at least," Liam suggested.

"If I haven't known you for a while and my life wasn't in your hands right now, I would have tossed you out of this car, "

"Jeez, Amy. That was frightening," Liam sighed as he looked up ahead.

"Did you know he had a girlfriend?" Amy finally asked. She had not wanted to ask him, but here she was popping the question and Liam dreaded it.

His knuckles tightened on the steering wheel. "Yes," he finally replied.

"And you didn't tell me?" Amy blew up. "Why am I even asking? He's your best friend. Of course you'll cover up for him," she puffed.

" Look, Amy, it's not what you think. They were on a rough edge and," Liam began to say and stopped immediately when he realized that anything he said further would either ruin his chances with her or steady the shaking bridge between her and Cole.

"And?" She asked, peering at him.

Liam inhaled deeply and exhaled. "I'm not in the right position to talk about Cole's relationship. He's the only one who can explain it all. For now, can we skip this? Remember we just want to unwind,"

Amy nodded absently. "Yeah, unwind," she said.

They finally got to the bar and ordered some shots.

"Promise me you won't take videos of me once I get drunk," Amy said to Liam and he nodded with a chuckle.

"Let's unwind," he said raising his glass up and they made a toast.

Amy gulped down the first one and then the second, third, fourth and fifth. Soon, she felt tipsy.

"He shouldn't have gotten a girlfriend you know. I'm his mate after all," she said drunkenly.

Liam chuckled. "Yeah, he shouldn't have," he said as he took another shot.

"Come to think of it, Liam. You've.. never told me about your mate,"

He shrugged. "I lost her in a car accident and since then, the moon goddess have not fated anyone else to me," he responded.

" Hmm, " Amy said as she gulped her sixth tequila. "So, you're single?" She asked and he nodded. "How can a wealthy man like you be single? And you're hot too!" She giggled.

"Well, I like someone," he began to say.

"Really? Have you told her?" Amy asked, by now, she was drowsy as she was on her seventh shot.

"I have not been fortunate to do so,"

Amy slapped his hand and laughed. "Come on now. Do not waste any more time before someone takes her away. Especially someone undeserving of her," Amy blurted.

He smiled. He was still able to hold his liquor. "Well, unfortunately, I think she likes someone else,"

Amy chuckled. "How can she look pass someone as attractive as you? Come on, tell me. Who's this woman that has caught your fancy?" She asked with a giggle as she took another shot.

Liam stared at her for a moment. He was lost in her eyes. Lost in her carefree manner. He knew it was now or never, even if she wouldn't remember by tomorrow morning. "That woman is you," he finally let out what had perturbed him day and night.

Amy stared at him, a rather shocked expression on her face.
