Chapter 37: Chapter 37

"Momma momma!! Please buy this for me!! Please?! Pretty please?!!" Tris tugged at his mother multiple times.

Amy marveled at his puppy eyes and could not help but chuckle.

"You have had too much sugar today, baby. We'll get you that next time we visit this place. How about that?" She asked him.

"But next week is too long, momma. Besides, we don't know if he's going to be here next week. Besides, my teacher said sugar is carbohydrate, and it gives us energy. I'll soon grow into a man, so I need a lot of sugar to do a lot of manly things!" Tris protested.

Amy was amused by his intelligence, that she decided to get into the conversation.

"Manly things like... Like providing?" She asked.

"Providing for who? Do you have a girlfriend that you need to provide for?" Kayla asked.

"I don't have a girlfriend, but I have mom. I can provide for her and you, aunt Kayla, right?" Tris replied.

Amy's heart was melted by his words instantly. If there was anything Tris knew how to do, it was talking sweet.

Kayla had long come to a conclusion that he was going to have an easy way with girls when he'd get older.

"Ma'am, it wouldn't hurt to buy the cotton candy for him. It's cheap, and it doesn't have too much sugar," the man behind the Cotton candy truck suggested.

Because the sun was done already, Amy couldn't see the man's face, but he had a familiar voice.

"Fine. I'll get it for him. Make them two," she told the man and he smiled and began making them.

"Momma, momma!! Can I go ride on one of those?!" Tris pointed at one of those dangerous looking rides in the field.

"We've had enough fun for today, Tris. We'll come back to the amusement park next week. Right now, we'll get the Cotton candy and go back home."

Tris knew better than to push it. He'd managed to get his mother to buy him Cotton candy. He didn't want to lose everything.

The cotton candy was finally ready and he handed it to Amy.

She handed one to an excited Tris who started nibbling on it before he even got to hold it.

Amy searched in her purse for the money.

"Oops. I don't think I have any change for this. Do you have change for a hundred dollar bill?"

"There'll be no need to pay," he replied.

"What? Why?"

"I feel satisfied to see you and your son together, so I decided that the Cotton candy is on the house."

"Are you sure? I-"

"Don't worry about it ma'am. I sold enough to afford to give two of them for free. Just have them," the man said.

"Oh? If you say so. Thank you very much. I really appreciate," she said and left with her son.

They soon boarded the bus, on their way home. It was going to be a very long ride, so Amy got her phone to play some music.

From the corner of her eye, she could see Tris dozing off beside her. They had a lot of fun at the amusement park, so it made sense that he was going to get tired once he'd settled down.

Even she was getting tired.

She didn't know when she fell asleep, alone to be awoken by the driver, telling her that they'd reached their destination.

Her son was already deep in sleep, so she has to carry him out of the bus.

The cold evening breeze greeted her once she stepped down from the bus.

Her house wasn't far away, so she decided to walk.

But something was off...

She felt tired...

Too tired...

She knew the rides she went on hours ago was energy consuming, but she was extremely tired.

She could barely stand on her feet, talk more of walking with a seven year old in her back.

Still, she had no choice.

Putting one leg in front of the other, she began to walk down the lonely street.

She noticed someone's presence behind her.

She turned around, and she saw a cotton candy truck.

Wait a minute...

Wasn't it the same cotton candy truck she bought some cotton candy from, back at the park?

What was he doing here?

It was a long ride from the park to this street. Did he walk all the way?

She shrugged and continued walking. She entered another street on her left and she noticed the cotton candy man behind her, even after she took that turn.

She noticed that whenever she turned to him, he stopped moving immediately.

This was too much off a coincidence.

She turned fully and began walking to him.

He still didn't move an inch until she was before him.

"Excuse me, sir?"

He didn't respond.

"We met back at the park. Is it a coincidence that your treading this path with me, or were you following us?" She confronted.

No response.

"I need an answer, sir. Answer me," she began to get defensive.

She waited for answer and the man finally got away from the truck.

He touched his neck, and Amy watched in horror as the man came out of the shadows.

"What the hell?!" She yelled in shock.

"Do you know me?"

She strained her eyes, but his face lit up under the dim streetlight.

"Cole?" She gasped.

"It's nice to finally meet you," he smirked.

"What are you doing here?"

"I'm here for my son," he said.

Amy gripped her sleeping son and retreated some steps away.

"He's my son! You can't come out of nowhere and claim him all of a sudden!! Get away!!"

All of sudden, she felt a force pull her son away from her.

"Give me my son!!!" She turned and attempted to chase the man who stole her child, but before she could run far, she felt a needle enter her back and into her body.

She felt liquid from the syringe enter her system, and felt weak.

"Whatever I get, I want," she heard Cole whisper behind her.

She fell to the ground immediately. She couldn't feel any part of her body. She just laid there tears falling down her cheeks as she watched Cole take her son away.

"Noooooo!!!" Amy jerked up from her sleep in horror.

She looked around, panting, and realized that she was on her bed, in her room.

She felt a little of relief when she realized it was a dream.

"Tris!"

She jumped off her bed and ran to his room. She saw him sleeping soundly in his room, and she sighed in relief.
