Chapter 20: Chapter 20
"You're here to see who?" The woman behind the desk asked.
"Mr. Liam. He knows we're coming," Amy replied to the secretary.
"What are your names?"
"My name is Amy. He met with me a few days ago. He told me to come back today," Amy replied.
"Okay. Let me check with him," she replied and got on the telecom.
Kayla was still fuming from the what happened a while back. Amy had tried her best to calm her down, but the progress was very little.
"I wish I could see that man again and give him a piece of my mind. Who does he think he is to talk to people the way he feels?" She questioned rhetorically.
"Kayla, please calm down. Don't blow this for the both of us. Keep your emotions under control before we go see the boss. Please," Amy begged in frustration.
Kayla was about to reply her when the receptionist came off the call.
"He's confirmed the meeting. Let me show you in," she said and got up to her feet. She led them to the door behind behind her desk and opened it, revealing them into the beautiful office.
"Wow! This is beautiful!" Kayla could not help but admire out loud once she stepped into the office, her eye scamming and admiring the beauty of the office.
"Kayla! Keep yourself together. Act matured," Amy whispered to her friend, but it seemed Liam already noticed it.
"No no no. It's fine. I'm elated that she thinks my office is beautiful. Let her express herself. It makes me feel good," the goodlooking young gentleman seated behind the see through table commented with a soft smile on his face.
"Good morning, Liam. Sorry - I mean, sir," Amy corrected herself.
"Please don't call me sir. That's weird even for me," he pointed out.
"But you're about to be my boss-"
"If you seem it necessary to attach some form of formality, then you can call me Mr. Liam. However, I prefer you call me by name"
"I'll take note of that... Mr. Liam,"
"And who's this beautiful young lady you brought here?" He questioned, his eyes on Kayla who was blushing sheepishly.
"Oh, yes. Remember you asked me if I had someone in mind for the vacancy of the receptionist? She's the one that came to mind. Her name is Kayla."
"Good morning, sir," she curtsied.
"Good morning, Kayla. I want to ask... Did you finish university?" Liam questioned.
Kayla's eyes lit up immediately, as if she'd been waiting for that question all her life.
"Yes,I did. I entered at a very young age of seventeen, and spent four years studying business management at the State's University. In fact I came out with a first class. I brought my resume here. I can show you if you want...," She muttered as she immediately started fumbling her bag for her documents.
"There'll be no need for that," Liam said and she looked up at him him shock.
"You don't want to check my resume?" Kayla asked, shocked.
"You had already gotten the job before you walked in here,"
"Really?" Both Kayla and Amy dropped their jaws in surprise.
"Really," Liam repeated.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Liam. This is an opportunity you won't regret giving us. That you so much," Amy said to Liam.
"Thank you so much, sir," Kayla appreciated him.
"It's no problem. The secretary outside will show you both to your offices, so you can start work immediately," he told them, and they thanked him again before heading for the door.
"Ermm... Excuse me, sir. I have a question," Kayla retreated and faced Liam again.
Amy's groaned. She knew this wasn't going to be good.
"You may ask,"
"There was this man that came out of your office before you let us in. Do you know him? Who is he?"
Liam was quite shocked by her question.
"That must be Cole, my good friend. He came to pay me a visit."
"Does he work here?"
"No, he doesn't. He owns his own company. I'm sorry, but why do ask?"
"Well, we met in the hallway moments ago, and if I'm honest, I don't like-"
"Kayla, the secretary is waiting us! Come on, let's go," Amy pointed to the secretary already at the door.
Before Kayla could say one more word, She began dragging her out of the office.
"But I'm not done-"
"Trust me, you're done," Amy said and pulled her out of the office, giving a light apology to Liam before leaving the office too.
Liam caught himself smiling sheepishly, minutes after Amy had left the office with her friend.
Damn, she looked so beautiful.
If it hadn't been for her friend with her, he wouldn't have stopped himself from asking her out on a date.
"Either ways, I'm not going to let you go this time. I may have missed my opportunity in school, but I won't do that same mistake twice," he sighed and got his eyes back on the laptop, even though he knew he wouldn't concentrate because of the fact that Amy was on his mind.

"You didn't tell me that the Liam guy is fine!" Kayla exclaimed as she poured herself a glass of wine.
"Because it wasn't an important information. We're there to work, and not for his looks"
"Still, it didn't hurt for you to let me know that we were going to work for a man as cute as that!"
"Kayla, get a hold of yourself and don't do anything there. This is our one shot at getting a comfortable life for us and Tris as well," she warned.
"I'm not dumb, Amy," she rolled her eyes.
"Good,"
"Now," Kayla raised her glasses up
"Here's to a new beginning for us. To the end of menial labour, just to get by. To the end of juggling four jobs every day just to pay rent. Cheers to a new beginning!" Kayla hailed excitedly, and Any couldn't help but laugh at her energy.
"Cheers," she clinged glasses with her friend and sipped the wine.
"This wine is quite nice. This Chervyl wine bar is really good," Kayla commended as she took a taste of the wine.
