Chapter 19: Chapter 19

"8:30pm?!! How come?!," She screamed in horror as she jumped from the bed. She just checked the time and realized that I'd overslept.

She remembered that she slept very late last night, but she didn't expect that she would get up this late!

According to the text Liam sent her two days ago, the company's resumption time was 8:30 am.

She was going to be late on her first job!!

"Oh goodness! Why did she sleep so much?! Why today of all days?!," She groaned in misery and anxiousness.

She turned to see Kayla on her bed, snoring loudly.

"Wake up, Kayla!! We're late for work!!," She pushed her vigorously, forcing her out of her unconsciousness.

"Why are you disturbing my peace, Amy?," Kayla groaned as she rubbed her tired eyes open and sat up.

"Your peace? Don't you know that we're late for work?!,"

"What work?," She questioned with so much ignorance, Amy felt like biting her head off.

"The job offer I told you about, at my new place,"

"Oh, that! There's still time, Amy. Isn't this... Like seven in the morning?," She questioned without to take a look at the rusty clock hanging on the wall.

"This is 8:33, and the office opens by 8:30,"

"What?!," Her eyes widened in shock as she checked the clock.

"Why didn't you say something?!," She cried and she leaped off the bed and ran into the bathroom immediately.

Amy sighed and woke her son up from sleep. She began preparing him for school as fast as she could, and when she was done with him, she took herself to the bathroom. She prepared as fast as she could. She brushed and took the quickest bath she'd ever taken. She soon came out of the bathroom and began putting on her clothes without even bothering to dry myself. She put on her clothes and headed for the door with her son's hand in hers.

"Wait for me!," Kayla yelled from inside the house, but Amy wasn't slowing down at all.

She ran out of the house and she met her neighbor who was also leaving the house to take her children to school.

"Good morning, Amy! Where are you rushing to this early?," her neighbor asked when she saw her bolt out of her apartment.

"I'm late for work," She replied with her mind on leaving.

"Oh? Are you-"

"Please, I need your help. Can you please take my son to school, since he attends the same school as your children? She plead.

"Oh, that no problem!," She replied with a smile and Amy thanked her as she handed Tris over to her.

"Ermm, before I forget... the other neighbors are going to have a small get together for our new neighbor late tonight. Will you be able to make it-"

"Not today, neighbor. I'm sorry, but I won't be able to able make it. Forgive me, and greet the new neighbor on my behalf," She impatiently cut her short and ran down the hallway to the steps, as the elevator wasn't working for the past one year.

"Well, I'm not surprised. She knew you'd say no,"

"Count me in!," Kayla hollered at the neighbor as she bolted out of the apartment. She quickly locked it, blew Tris a kiss and tried to catch up with Amy.

The normal route to the office was to take Amy an hour and thirty minutes to get to the office, but without thinking twice, She and Kayla took a short cut that cost her three times the transport fare for the normal route, and She was able to get to work by 9:00 am.

They finally got out of the bus and they were soon standing in front of a company called Hemsworth Tech Ltd.

"Come on, let's hurry," Kayla rushed Amy.

"You go in. I need to change this flip-flops to the work heels in my bag," Amy said. She was hurrying and did not have the time to wear a heel, so she slipped her legs into some flip-flops, planning to remove them once they got to the office.

"Okay, but be quick. You know I can't meet him without you by my side," Kayla said and rushed inside.

Without even asking for directions, Kayla ran into the building and took the elevator for the floor where the top floor was located. She finally got there and asked for direction from a staff for the office of the CEO.

"Just go straight to the end of the hall, and take your left," he directed.

She followed the directions and was about to take the sharp turn that would lead her to the office when she bumped into someone coming in.

"Ouch!," She groaned as it felt like she'd hit a brick wall. She almost lost her balance and all the properties in her bag fell to the ground, including the documents.

"Can't you watch were you're going?," He questioned.

She was about to bend to pick them up, but she stood upright and shot a glare at the stranger.

"Did you not hit me? Weren't you supposed to apologize? Who do you think you are to tell me to watch were I'm going?," She questioned him in anger.

"We both collided into each other. And if you weren't rushing, we would've stopped in time to prevent this-"

"If you have nothing to say, get away from my presence. Talking to you will only be a waste of time," she retorted and picked the rest of her documents.

"I don't have anything to say to you," the stranger muttered and walked away.

"Yeah, walk away, cause that's all you can do!! How gentlemanly of you to leave me to pick the things you fell!"

Back outside, Amy had just finished clipping her heels. She rushed into the hall immediately and took elevator to the top floor. Immediately she got out of the elevator, she was passed by a young man with such a huff. She kept going, only to find her friend yelling at the person who just passed her.

She rushed to Kayla and asked her what the problem was.

"Don't mind that arrogant guy! He bumped into me, and was telling me to watch where I was going. Can you imagine-"

"It's okay, let's pack up and go to the boss's office," Amy consoled as she helped her pack.

Amy shot a glance at the person who passed her, but the elevator had just closed by then. She couldn't see his face.

"Come on let's go," Amy urged her friend was she was done packing the contents of the bag.
