Chapter 112: Chapter 112
Relief washed over Amy at the sight of Cole. He took off his jacket and covered her up as he unlocked the chains on her legs and her hands. Her hands fell down numbly as she heaved in tears. Cole hugged her tightly to himself and she wrapped her arms around him as she sobbed.
“I’m so sorry I came late,” he apologized. His throat was choked with tears he couldn’t shed.
She shook her head as she cried. To her, he was not late. He came right on time. What if he had been a minute late? Jeremy would have had his crazy dick buried in her. She held him closely. Since these past few days, this was the first time she was happy seeing him without remorse. She didn’t even look at him with hate for killing someone.
Liam walked into the warehouse and saw them entangled with each other. He looked over at the dead body laying in its own pool of blood. “So, should I behead him and send his head to his wife?” He asked.
“Just as she command it,” Cole responded as he carried Amy in a bridal style to avoid her seeing the gruesome.
She was too weak to say anything concerning what she just heard. She placed her head on Cole’s chest and closed her eyes.
Liam walked over to Jeremy and did as he was told. He beheaded Jeremy.
•
Cole got to the car and the back up were there already. He ordered them to head over to the warehouse and dispose of the bodies.
Kayla screamed in relief as she saw Amy in Cole’s arms.
“Amy, Amy, are you okay?” She asked.
Amy opened her eyes and smiled weakly. “Kayla, you’re here,” she said weakly.
Tears gathered Kayla’s eyes. “Of course I’m here,” she replied as she touched Amy’s cheek.
“Cmon, I have to take her to the city hospital,” Cole said, and Kayla moved aside as he placed Amy into the car.
Liam came out of the woods just as Cole closed the door to Amy’s side.
Cole turned to him as he noticed his presence. “Thank you for today, Liam. I wouldn’t have gotten her back without your help,” he said and turned to Kayla. “And you too,” he added and she smiled at him briefly.
“Amy has to be checked on,” Liam replied.
“I’m about to take her there,” Cole said.
“I’ll drive,” Liam replied as he took the car keys from Cole and headed over to the driver’s seat.
Cole didn’t argue as he got into the backseat with Amy and Kayla got beside Liam, and he drove away, leaving the rest in the hands of the pack warriors.
•
Amy placed her head on Cole’s shoulder, and his hand was over her protectively throughout the ride. Liam tried not to think too much of it, but from the rear view mirror, he could see them. His heart clenched and his knuckles.
“Could you go any faster?” Kayla asked him.
He nodded as he increased the speed limit. In no time, they got to the hospital and Amy was taken to a ward.
Liam, Cole and Kayla waited outside as they ran series of tests on Amy to be sure she was okay.
Just then, Cole’s phone rang. It was Tris calling him. He looked at Kayla and she urged him to pick up.
“Hey, kiddo,” he said as soon as he picked.
“It’s late, dad. When are you and mom coming home?” He asked.
“Soon. But, don’t wait up for us. Have you had dinner?”
“Dad, is everything alright?” Tris asked suspiciously as he ignored his father’s question.
“Yes, everything is,” he almost groaned.
Kayla took the phone away from Cole, and he stared at her bewildered as she spoke to Tris. “Hey, sugar. It’s aunt Kayla,”
“Aunt Kayla? What are you doing with my dad’s phone?” He questioned.
She cleared her throat. “Well, Tris, your dad, your mom and I are somewhere very important, but I promise you, both your parents will be home tonight or tomorrow morning,” she replied gayly.
Tris wasn’t convinced, but he accepted. “Okay, aunt Kayla,” he said and the call dropped.
Kayla handed Cole’s phone to him. He took it and sighed.
The doctor finally came out of Amy’s ward, and they clustered her with questions. “Is she alright?” They asked at once.
She smiled. “Yes, she’s fine. She’s just tired and has body pains. We have given her some painkillers,”
They all sighed in relief.
“Thank you, doctor,” Cole said.
“May I ask who’s the mate or husband?” She asked.
“I am,” Cole replied.
She took his hand and shook it. “Congratulations, you’re about to become a father,” she smiled.
“Uh?” Cole was speechless as Liam stared in shock and Kayla gasped.
•
Cole brought Amy home, and bid Kayla good night after thanking her once again.
“I’ll check on her tomorrow,” Kayla said, and Cole nodded as Kayla walked away. He had instructed Zeco to take her home.
Cole took Amy into their room, and ran her a bath.
He took off her clothes and insisted on bathing her.
She shook her head and laughed weakly. “I can do it myself, Cole,”
“I know you can, but I want to,” he replied, looking at her.
“Is it because I’m pregnant?” She asked.
“It’s because I want to,” he replied. He had been so scared today that he would never find her. He just wanted to be sure she was really here and not a figment of his imagination.
•
Cole finally did as he wanted. He bathed Amy, wore her her nightdress and ran up dinner for her.
Just then, Tris walked into the kitchen and met Cole. Cole was surprised to see him awake.
Tris ran over and hugged him. “You’re back,”
“Yeah. I thought you were sleeping,” Cole replied.
Tris pulled away. “I woke up. Where’s mom?” He asked.
“In the room,”
Immediately, Tris dashed out of the kitchen. “He careful. She needs rest!” Cole called after him.
“Okay!” Tris said excitedly as he ran up the stairs. He finally got into his parents room and saw Amy seated on the bed, her back against the headboard.
He broke into a boyish grin. “Mommy!”
She smiled as she saw him. He ran over to her and she spread her arms to hug him. He hugged her, placing his head on her chest.
“I missed you. I didn’t see you yesterday, why?” He asked.
She ruffled his hair. “I got busy,”
“Too busy to see me?” He asked as he looked at her with puppy eyes.
She kissed his forehead. “Never,”
He smiled. “Promise me you won’t disappear like that again,”
She lifted her hand. “I promise I won’t. In scouts honor,” she said and they both laughed.
Cole came in with dinner. “Alright, kiddo, it’s past your bedtime. It’s Eleven: Thirty,”
“Yeah, yeah. I’m going,” Tris huffed as he moved away from away. “Good night, mom. Good night, dad,” he said.
“Good night, love,” Amy replied.
Cole ruffled his hair as he walked past him. “Good night, champ,”
Tris closed the door behind him, and Cole turned to Amy.
“You made dinner?” She asked with a raised brow.
He nodded with a smile as he pulled up the bed table. “Have to just put in something. You need your energy,” he said as he placed the creamy andouille pasta on it.
She chuckled. “I find it hard that you made this,”
He sat beside her. “Don’t doubt my prowess, love,”
She took a bite from it. “It tastes so good,” she appraised.
He kissed her shoulder. “Thank you,”
Together, they ate and after they were done, Cole cleared the dishes and returned to be with his woman.
He held her in his arms closely, and when she tried to move, he said. “Stay this way. It gives me comfort to know you’re beside me,” and with that, she stayed. The fear of losing her had almost consumed him.
•
Brittany opened the door at the third knock and she saw no one. Looking down, she was confronted by the head of Jeremy. She smiled.
•
“You’re free to go,” the sentinel released Shantel after getting a call from Cole.
She came out of the cell, seething in rage. “It’s not over, Cole. This is just the beginning,” she monologued.
