Chapter 103: Chapter 103

Amy slumped beside the bed as she fought back her tears. Her heart was heavy and the sinking feeling of pain she felt in her stomach was immersing.

Without thinking twice, she ran out of her room. She raced down the stairs, reaching for the door.

A bewildered Tris stood at the corner of the stairs. “Mom?” He called softly.

But, she didn’t hear him. She bolted and ran out of the house. Her one thought was running. Running to the one person who could comfort her. Her best friend. This was her coping mechanism.

She took a taxi and as the taxi drove in the direction of Kayla’s pack house, the tears she had been fighting so hard to hold back, streamed down her cheeks.

Her lips quivered as the scalding tears kept cascading. Her mind kept bringing up scenarios of Cole being with Shantel while she was in a taxi, her heart aching in agony.

The taxi finally pulled up in front of the Shadow Moon pack house.

Amy came down from the taxi and dashed towards the front door.

“Hey! You haven’t paid!” The taxi driver yelled after her.

She knocked relentlessly on the door and the door was opened by an omega. “Is the Luna in?” She asked, her breathing was heavy.

The omega nodded and led Amy to Kayla’s room. She knocked on the door.

“Who is it?” Paul’s voice boomed through the door.

It was at that point Amy realized that things were not the way they used to be. Kayla was now married and by this hour she would in her husband’s arms.

“It’s me. The Lina’s friend is…”

“No, it’s fine,” Amy interrupted her. “I’ll get going,” she said walking away. She walked down the stairs hoping not to fall apart. She reached for the door, ready to leave.

“Amy?” Kayla’s voice stopped her. She turned to see her best friend running down the stair’s looking agitated. “What happened?” She asked with concern as she got closer to her.

That look of worry in her eyes, caused Amy to break down as her lower lips trembled and the tears came rolling down again.

Kayla held her face in perplexity and worry. “Amy, talk to me,”

“T-there’s a taxi man outside. Could you please pay him for me? I’ll pay you back,” Amy’s voice was choked with tears.

“Sure,” Kayla replied as she signaled to a sentinel. She gave him directions to her room where he could take money as soon as he left, she turned to Amy. “Why are you here in the middle of the night? And who’s with Tris?” She asked and Amy collapsed on her body as she held her tight, sobbing hard.

Her body wracked in sobs and it broke Kayla’s heart to see her that way.

Kayla allowed her cry, before leading her to the living room and making her sit down.

“Is it Cole?” She asked, peering into Amy’s eyes.

Amy nodded as she sniffled.

“Did you guys have a fight?” She asked.

Amy shook her head as she wiped her eyes. “May I stay here tonight?” She asked.

Kayla could sense that what Amy was going through was really difficult for her to go back home. She nodded.

“May I use your phone to call home? I want to tell Nicole I won’t be coming home tonight,” she added.

“Who’s Nicole?” Kayla asked confused.

“She takes care of Tris,” Amy replied.

“Okay, but first, tell me what happened,”

Amy sniffled. “Cole’s having an affair with Shantel in New York,” she replied, looking her dead in the eyes and Kayla stared at her in disbelief.

Cole sealed his deal with the foreign investors and got back on the jet with Greg, heading back to Louisiana. His mind was occupied with thoughts of Amy. He hoped he could make it up to her for this past week that he had been without her and to also rid himself the pang of guilt he felt in his chest.

He had tried calling her since the presentation was over, but she wasn’t taking her calls. He believed she might be busy. He began to make reservations at her favorite restaurant. This was his first step to making amends.

Amy returned home and as she walked into the room she shared with Cole, nostalgia immediately hit her. The memories they had in the room slapping her hard and draining her.

She forced back her tears, reminding herself that she had cried enough last night. She walked straight to the walk-in closet and began to take her stuffs, leaving behind the ones he got for her.

She got her suitcase ready and as she was about to walk out of the room, she noticed her phone on the floor. She walked towards it, picked it up and saw Cole’s missed calls. She swallowed hard as she tossed the phone on the bed.

She walked out of the room with her suitcase and headed to Tris room. She got into his room and began to pack his things in a suitcase too.

Tris walked into the room. “Mom, you’re back,” he said, walking closer to her. He had been in the kitchen with Nicole.

“Yes, honey,” Amy replied. Her voice was cracked from her intense tears last night.

“What are you doing?” He inquired, noting that she kept packing his things.

“We’re leaving,” she replied as she zipped his suitcase.

“Why?” He was surprised and perplexed.

She squatted down and held his hand. “Trust me, okay?”

He nodded.

She held his hand and picked up the suitcase and led him down the stairs. She took her suitcase too and as they got down the stairs, Nicole was standing with her bag too.

Amy was taken about. “Nicole, what are you doing?”

“I know you’re leaving and my purpose is to serve the young alpha. Wherever he goes, I go,” Nicole explained with her head bowed.

“No, Nicole. You’ll stay back,” Amy disagreed.

“I’m sorry, Luna. I can’t..”

Just then, Cole walked into the house. “Hey, bab-“ the words died in his mouth when he saw the packed suitcases. “What’s going on here?” He asked, his brows knitted down.

Amy stared at him and all she wanted was to slap his cheating face, but she refrained because of her child.

“Fine, let’s go,” she said to Nicole as she held Tris hand and trotted the suitcases with the other.

“Go where? What’s going on?” He asked in bafflement.

She ignored him as she walked past him. He held her arm, stopping her from going further. She cursed underneath her breath.

“Amy..”

“Nicole, take Tris outside. I’ll join you soon,” Amy said to Nicole and she did as she was told.

As soon as Tris was out of the house, Amy flung Cole’s hand from her arm.

“Take your cheating hands off me,” she said through gritted teeth.

“What?” He was taken aback.

Amy snickered as she stared at him. “And to think I was waiting for you like a cuckold wife,”

He narrowed his eyes. “Are you going to behave like a fishwife when I don’t know the fuck going on?”

She slapped him, anger brimming in her eyes. “How dare you call me a fishwife when you’ve been in the arms of another woman?!”

Cole ran his tongue on his cheek for any cut and it was at her last statement that it dawned on him what happened.

He looked at her. “Whatever Shantel told you is a lie,”

She laughed bitterly. “I haven’t even mentioned the woman you’ve been with and you’ve said it already and yet you lied to me,”

“I didn’t lie, Amy. If you can only trust me for once,”

“Trust you? Where has that ever gotten me? I’ve seen the videos, Cole. No photoshop, no editing!” She yelled, her voice choking with tears.

Cole was confused and distraught. “Videos? What fucking videos?”

Amy blinked back her tears as she tucked her hairs behind her ears. “You know what? I can’t do this anymore. Let’s end this,”

Cole couldn’t believe what was happening. “You can’t be serious. You can’t be breaking up with me over mere allegations!” He yelled.

“Mere allegations?! I saw it all, Cole. The pictures and videos! It was you and her, no one else!” She raised her hands up in exasperation.

“Exactly!” He asked as he grabbed her arms. “Why not someone else? Why her? Can’t you see what she’s trying to do to us?” He questioned her. His eyes were already becoming reddish with hurt.

She forced herself away from his grasp. “You let her do this to us. You lied to me,”

“Yes, I did. I shouldn’t have, but I couldn’t think of anything better to tell you,”

“What about the truth?!”

“I couldn’t summon up the courage!” He was infuriated with pain.

“Goodbye, Cole Darrel,” her lips trembled as she said those words.

“Don’t do this, Amy, please,” he pleaded as he held her hand back, trying to stop her.

“Let go of me!” She cried out as she struggled out of his grasp. She succeeded and she dragged her suitcase out of the house.

Cole fell on his knees, his throat was choked with pain and hurt. Someone should have told him that his lies would definitely backfire.
