Chapter 195: Chapter 195
Alpha's Hated Mate
EPILOGUE
Mirabelle's POV
I watched Kyrie & Angel playing basketball, she's very horrible at it but Kyrie was having fun. King used to play with Karla and she was good but she wasn't warming up to Angel.
She talked to her a little, just average interaction other than that she didn't want anything to do with her. She was heartbroken, to her Camilla was her mother and she wanted her to always be. Arieya sat with Karla on the swing they weren't playing, they just sat there watching the kids play.
“Beta I'll see you later.” She said smiling.
“Won’t you wait for your husband?”
“No Santiago will be here any minute but I have to pick Anastasia from the airport.”
I nodded and hugged her goodbye.
Annalise and Santiago got married a few months after the accident that changed our lives. Silverline was dull and less lively without Camilla at first but soon things started looking up. I missed Camilla, well the sane Camilla. I still remember the day of her accident as if it were yesterday, but it's not yesterday. It's been over a year. It was right after Camilla's wedding, As we headed to the reception.
I was in the car behind her and Adrian. I have no idea what she was doing but her viel flew and Adrian went to get it with her. He helped her put it back on then something tragic happened. An irresponsible drunk driver almost ran her over. Adrian pushed her out of the way and he got run over. She didn't make it unscathed either.
He laid in a pool of his blood. That was all it took. That was it, I lost my Bestfriend and Adrian lost himself. Arieya lost both her parents. My phone beeped as I turned to go inside. It was Santiago, 'We're here' is what the text read.
I went and joined them in the parking lot. “I was about to check on the babies.”
“Oh they fell asleep?” Santiago checks.
“Yes Karla and Arieya put them to bed for me.” I answer by crossing my arms, sadness still hanging in the air that I breathe.
“Better than any babysitter money can buy.” he chuckled.
“Did you see her?” I ask, looking at my brother, Adrain. He has the same lost facial expression he's had for over a year.
Santiago growls slowly. “No, she was asleep. Sheryl was out with Amaya so we didn't get to enter her room. They took the keys.”
I swallowed the hurt wreaking in my bones and burning in my blood and I simply asked. “So how is she though?”
“The doctor said the same, not worse or better, she's just the same.”
“I thought she was making progress.” Disappointed about the results, it's still the same old topic.
“Well she hasn't tried to hurt herself again, they don't tie her anymore.”
I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat. “Do you guys want to see the quintuplets I'm sure they're awake?”
“I need a little more time to compose myself. How can I look at them knowing that their mother is gone?” Adrian shakes as he speaks. He has never been himself; he's fallen apart.
I hold his hands softly rubbing him with relief if that could help. It breaks my heart at the tragedy that has befallen him. “It's not your fault Adrian, Camilla loves you and she'd hate it if she knew you're blaming yourself for her mental state.”
“I don't know what to do, Karla doesn't play anymore neither does Arieya they're not the same look at them it's like…” He breaks down, tightening his jaws.
My hands found its way to his back soothingly. “Camilla having schizophrenia isn't your fault that drunk driver is to blame, she thought she lost you and that triggered her schizophrenia once again you saved her life.”
“She's right, your kids can't lose two parents one day Camilla may come around, today isn't the day and you have to be a parent Adrian.” Santiago adds.
“How do I get those two precious girls to play to be kids again... Arieya is 3 years old for fucks sake and already she looks depressed the children's happiness has gone along with their mother's sanity.” He moans in grief rubbing his stubbles.
Camilla isn't the only one battling insanity, so is Adrian. I've watched him so many times talk to himself and act funny. Few times he came around but I know he's merely existing. Where Mia goes he goes too.
“But you're here you can make it better till she heals I know she'll get through it.” My conviction is strong that my best friend and Alpha will recover. I can't give up on her in a situation where she needs me and us the most. She would do more if I was in that situation.
“It's no use hoping it's been 16 months a whole year and 4 months of waiting. Waiting for her waiting for my heart to beat again and what did I get.. nothing.”
I have always felt Camilla's pain but now I feel Adrian's pain too. After that accident Camilla developed schizophrenia or she already had it. She relives the same events in her head everyday, hers and Adrian's love story up until the accident but it doesn't always end the same way sometimes they both die sometimes they live or one of them dies.
Some event's she creates in her head and some she doesn't. Camilla now lives in the crazy stories in her head. Some days she wakes up as Cami, our Cami and she's normal but when she goes to sleep she's a different person tomorrow, telling the story of Adrian and Camilla.
The doctor said it might be genetic and they're trying to treat her mental illnesses. When she woke up in that hospital bed she wasn't Camilla I had lost and Adrian lost his love that day.
She was pregnant before the wedding. I honestly wasn't surprised but the number of babies shocked us all.
Quintuplets.
The doctors had to operate on her because she was delusional. I bit my tongue and looked at Santiago for help.
Santiago reads my eye language, “Let's see the babies.” That's all he could say.
Camilla's situation left us all at a loss for words. The Royals kept her at the castle. I led Santiago and Adrian inside.
We found Aurelia and Santiago awake, Arabella, Ariana and Angela were still asleep. All Camilla's daughters' names start with A and end with A. It's a pattern she would have wanted and Adrian named his only son after his best friend, Santiago and we all thought Camilla would like it.
I picked Santi up. He was only 3 months old but he was a little version of Adrian. He rarely cried and if he did, he'd cry for a long time. The girls were almost identical, they shared their mother's features ah yes finally a win for Camilla.
“Aurelia is the last to sleep yet first one up.” I say playing with the babies to lighten our mood.
“Santi your job is to protect your sisters but look Aurelia beats you to it.” Santiago said, taking him from me.
“He sleeps long because he wants to dream of his mother.” Adrain says.
Adrian finds a means to throw us back to the hurting reality. I sniffed fighting back tears. “Soon he'll get to see her."
My phone beeped and they looked at me. They knew it was Logan and they hated him naturally.
I was to go with him but I couldn't leave Adrian and the kids in this state. Arieya walked into the room with Kendall's phone.
“Baby.” I called her.
She peeked at her sleeping siblings. Such a protective big sister she was. She then turned her attention to Camilla's picture from her wedding.
“What's wrong cutie?” Santiago gets her as she disregards answering to me.
“One day I'll wear mommy's wedding dress.” She vows.
I couldn't rain on her parade, Cami's dress was still worn by her. They'd wash it and she'd wear it again.
“Come here my love.” Adrian beckons to her.
She went to him and looked at him with sad eyes.
He held her on the shoulder. “What do you want?”
Arieya places her hand on her Dad's cheeks. “Daddy, smile for me.”
Adrian faked a smile.
Arieya frowns angrily at Adrian's deceit. “I'll tell Mommy you're cheating me.”
I step in. “Arieya mommy is busy, she can't talk to us at the moment, okay?”
“Let me call her again.” Arieya responds stubbornly.
“Ag..ain?” I stutter. Was Arieya making up stories or did the little girl speak to her mother indeed?
“Yes I talked to her downstairs.” We all looked at her in shock.
“Yes with grandma Sheryl.” she says precisely.
“Really and what did mommy say?” I ask. I do think the little girl isn't lying but the only way to find out is to ask.
“Baby.” Adrian tries to stop her thinking she might be growing delusional but Arieya still speaks.
“She said I should tell Tia to call her. She said she'll come soon and she loves me and daddy and all my Hermanas and baby hermano.”
Adrian beat me to speak. “Did she now?”
“And she cried a lot. Daddy I don't think mommy is happy there go and bring her please. I've told you a lot of times.”
“I'll bring her home one day okay I promise.” He said and kissed Arieya’s tears.
“One day today please.”
“Patience is a virtue my darling.”
Camilla wasn't even here for Arieya's birthday; she was tied up living her story.
My memory hit when my gaze falls on the phone clutched on Arieya’s right hand. “What are you doing with Kendall's phone?”
“I was talking to mommy on it and she said you call her.”
Adrian and Santiago looked at me. Surely Arieya had an imaginary friend but she wasn't one to lie unless prompted by someone.
Arieya's lips widened with a bright smile. “Call her.”
I took my phone and called Sheryl. She picked up after 2 rings.
“Sheryl?”
“Beta hey I was wondering when you'd call?” Sheryl responds from the corner of her phone.
I moved aside from everyone and finds a safe spot to investigate. “Arieya tells me you called her with Camilla.”
“Yes we did, Camilla came around 2 days ago and she's been asking for Arieya.” Sheryl speaks like it wasn't a big deal. She must be kidding; she knew how strained and terrible things had been during Mia's absence why keep us in the dark on this little upliftment.
“2 days... Does that mean she's okay now?”
“We'll have to keep her here for another month or so to be sure that she's cured. The doctor started treating her for psychosis and schizophrenia now she's doing a little better.” Sheryl says.
My fingers ran down the line to my ribs and pinched on a spot. I was freaking out. “So then there's hope now?”
Sheryl murmurs. “I don't want to get ahead of myself but yes there's hope. I've always believed Camilla would be okay and looks like she's healing.”
I sighed nodding like she was in front of me and could see my every move.
Before I get to hang up… “Do You want to talk to her... She's been taken for a walk in the garden?”
“No it's fine.”
“How are the little A's?” She asked again.
“They're all good, Adrian and Santiago are watching them.” I announce proud. Proud of Adrain’s unwavering love and commitment.
“Camilla will be so happy.”
“if she recovers.” I snort.
“She's strong, she will. She just doesn't know what's real and what's imagination right now. That's why she's still here. I should have told you but I didn't want to give Adrian false hope in case she become well, you know.” Sheryl encourages. Her words give me the strength I need to hang onto.
“I get it, so can I tell him?”
“Of course I know he misses his Mia and of course she misses him too once she's okay, they'll need to get alone time.”
“Okay I'll talk to you later.” I said hanging up because I heard Arieya laughing. I turned around to the sight of Santiago tickling her. That's one way to get a smile out of her.
“Adrian.”
“hmmm.” he said, putting Angela in her crib.
Arieya stirs. “Talked to mommy?”
“Yea she misses you.”
“Told you.” She smiled, turning her attention to Santiago again.
Adrian caught the fresh energy off my discussion and had to tell me in detail what's happening. “What's wrong?”
“It’s Camilla.”
“What happens when she tries to kill herself again?” He panicked.
“She didn't try, she doesn't have to try anymore.” His eyes widened and I realised my words made it look like she died. “No I don't mean it like that.”
“Moon.” The words left his lips more like a threat.
“She's been sane for a few days.” I rush out the answers.
“That's impossible. When I went there she was still in that room.”
“Well yes Sheryl said she's keeping her there for medical reasons and…” I went on and explained to him how and why Camilla is coming around.
“I'll go see her right now.” He sprints to the door.
“She can't see any of us now. She is still learning what's real and what's not. When you lost consciousness she passed out and created those scenarios in her head.”
“When can I see her?” Hard veins popped on his forehead as he clenched and unclenched his hard jaws.
“Soon a month or two.”
“Yet there's no guarantee!" He yelled.
“Her love for you... That's the only guarantee.”
He puffed hot air and slowly unclenched his jaws letting go of pressure.
“Adrian we have to go.”
“Can I come?” Arieya whispers to Santiago.
Adrian isn't in the right mind to take care of the kids full time yet he takes them 5 days a week and I get them for 2.
“Of course baby we can all go you Karla, Santi, Angela, Aurelia, Ariana and Arabella.”
“Yay.” she said happily without a smile.
I take control from them as their godmother and second in command. “Go and tell Karla you guys have to pack a bag.”
Even Karla lives with Adrian because she doesn't want to live with Angel as of yet and the fact that King is being nicer to Angel has her upset but King doesn't mind that Karla lives with Adrian most of the time. He thinks it's good for her and for Arieya too.
“Some of their stuff is already with us.” Santiago reminded me.
“They have too much stuff, that's the problem.”
“I'm driving with Santiago and the two that don't cry much.”
“Aurelia and Angela?”
“Yes Adrian can drive with Karla, Arieya, Arabella and Ariana.” Santiago replied.
“Okay I'll prepare the bottles, call me when you're ready to leave. I'll be in the kitchen.” I say hurrying to the business of the day.
Just soon. A little bit of normalcy will be restored.
