Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Isabelle
"Hey. I heard my phone chime." I heard from beside me.
I clenched my fist and gave it to him with a forced smile.
"I'll be with Matilda if you perhaps need me." I said and gave him his phone which he collected looking at my face.
I strode past him before stopping when I saw my under t-shirt had clung unto the hinge.
I almost yelled in frustration. This damned door! Wasn't 2 months enough to repair itself and stop doing this shit to people's clothes?!
I held the urge to scream out and carefully pulled my cloth out of the door but the fucking door wouldn't give it up.
"For the love of... let it go!" I yelled out suddenly glaring at the door.
"Let me help you." I heard that annoying voice.
"Fine! Sure! She's helpless and pathetic! Why not fucking help the poor girl?!" I yelled at him instead.
"Are you...no... Are we okay?" He asked cautiously.
"Yeah! We are fucking okay! Sorry do I look fucking mental?!"
"No you don't and we are not."
"Yes we are!"
"No. we. are. not." He spelled out slowly like I was a fucking 5 year old.
"No... Chris, we're fucking not! We're not fucking okay at all." I said shaking my head and then with one strong angry pull... my clothe came undone and I marched away feeling tears sting my eyes.
My nose itched as tears threatened to fall down and then... Bam! I slammed my nose into a hard surface.
"For the fucking love of... I'm fucking dizzy."
Yes, I curse when I'm sad or pained or feeling any stupid emotion.
"Woah. Hey hey... Come here." I heard his voice again. Can't he just go meet his stupid lifeline... I know I'm being unreasonable but this jeal— no! I'm not jealous! Not fucking jealous.
"Leave me the fuck alone." I spat out pushing his hands away from my arm once my butt hit the soft bed.
"What did I do?" He asked calmly squatting in front of me.
I rolled my eyes and looked at the plate on the table.
"Belle? Please, what did I do?"
"Right, I'm just Belle and she's the fucking lifeline." I meant to say it inwardly but it's out now. Fuck it.
"Lifeline? What are you...?" His phone chimed again and he looked at it before deciding to pick it up.
"Oh! Oh my... You're jealous of Dolores?" He asked with a chuckle in his voice.
"Dolores? When did I talk about Do..." I paused thinking what he said.
"Look." He said pointing the phone to my face. I turned my head to see the message. It said.
D: Why is your house empty? Where's my Best friend?
C: Oh we came over to Matilda's, her sister who is being discharged today. We would be back later tho.
D: Oh... Regards to her and Isa.
That was the message that he hadn't responded to because of... me.
I blushed in embarrassment before remembering what he said.
"Hey! I wasn't jealous!" I yelled blushing.
"Yeah yeah yeah... I'm sure." He said chuckling.
"Oh God! I can't believe this. Let's just go home already." I said jumping up.
"Oh shoot! Time has like really flew by." He said looking at his phone.
"Why? What's the time?" I asked taking my phone from my bag.
"Oh shit! That's 8:30!" I yelled eyes wide.
"Hey... aren't you guys going home? It's kinda late." Matilda asked standing at her door.
"And you're just telling us that? We can't go back now! It would take like an hour and a half to get home." I replied her sighing at the end.
"I mean... We have two rooms and two beds..." Chris drawled out.
"Chris!" I yelled.
"What?" He asked innocently.
"Yeah... You guys could stay here. I'll be with Alex in the other room." Matilda said and was about to turn around.
"Not so fast, young missy. I can't believe this. Let's go... we are sleeping together." I said pointing at her room.
"Really thought that would work." She muttered.
I shook my head at her before noticing Chris and Alex muttering something to theirselves.
I let out a huff and turned around.
"Hey, Belle... Is there anything we can eat?" He —Chris asked making me stop in my tracks.
"I mean... Well, damn... Nope." I said popping the 'p'
"Let's go and get it then." He suggested.
"Hold on... why both of us? I can go on my own and even bring Mat along." I replied instead.
"Nah... Let's go." He said dragging me by my arms effortlessly.
"Can I... ugh! Hey! Let go of me!" I yelled. His hands were way too firm(not).
"Oh sorry... Let me see that?" He said once we got downstairs. He brought up my arm to examine it but there was nothing.
"I was just joking. Why are you bent on us leaving right now anyways?" I asked crossing my arms.
"Oh... I was feeling hungry... I'm after all eating for two." He said.
I pursed my lips trying to hold in my laughter before I spilled it throwing my head back.
"Why are you laughing?" He asked unamused.
"You're saying that like you're pregnant." I stifled and laughed again.
"Oh... Well... Come on then." He said taking the lead.
"Like you know your way around this place? Don't get lost... I'm not going to look for you." I said seriously (not).
"You'd have no choice but to." He said in a matter of fact tone.
"Yeah? What gives you the assurance?" I asked folding my arms.
"Cause you love me." He stated simply walking without looking back.
I wanted to curse his mouth but he's right. Wolf!
"Hey wait up." I said running after him.
"Catch up if you can." He said in a sing song voice.
I rolled my eyes at his playfulness and ran making him run as well.
After running a while, I was breathless. This wolf in front of me didn't break a sweat. Perks of being a wolf I guess.
I paused and bent my head resting my hand on my knees huffing breaths.
I heard a clutter as I turned my head to see a glowing eyes staring back at me making let out a small squeal.
The glowing eyes closed and then a meow and then the cat ran off. Damned cat!
"Belle?! Are you okay?" Chris asked.
"Yeah... it was just a cat. I'm tired." I said pouting my lips.
He smiled at me before turning his back and then went down on his knees his back hunched a little.
"Hop on then." He said turning his head slightly to look at my face.
"Here?" I asked glowing in embarrassment.
"Hn. Come on." He replied nonchalantly.
"Hey, get up... It's not that bad." I said whispering.
"There's no one on the street... Climb."
I darted my neck left and right and truly there was no one on the street. But what of when we meet someone?
I pursed my lips, weighed my options and then looked at my leg before jumping onto his back. He caught me swiftly and stood up effortlessly.
Muscles bulged out of his arm as they relaxed and contrasted while we walked cause his arm was holding my laps... Yes, the bare ones.
Sparks flew through my whole body anytime we made contact which was everytime since his arm was under my laps.
I'm sure I'm pink with embarrassment. I buried my nose into his back earning chuckle from him. I almost bit his so muscly sexy back... Stop! But it's just so sexy and... Stop.
I've been meaning to ask anyways... I wonder if he works out.
"Yeah I do. Wanna watch me someday?" He spoke up.
"Hey get out of my head." I yelled.
"I didn't enter your head... you said it out loud." He said chuckling again.
"Oh..." I trailed off blushing furiously. I buried my nose into his back muttering a sure. I smiled at the thought of him working out.
With the muscles and the sweat... I hope he works out without a shirt... That would be so... Stop right there.
"Wait... You said you were going to tell me why you're helping Alex?" I suddenly remembered.
"Oh yeah... He told me he ran away from his uncle's house. His uncle and aunt has apparently been abusing him until his uncle broke his arm and leg one day... So he ran." He finished staring into the distance.
"Well, that's... shitty." I concluded.
"Yep."
Chris
"So you want him to tell Mat that's why you were getting us out of the house?" She asked.
I pushed her up with her laps which shot a tingle into my spine.
Sparks flew around my arm before spreading to my whole body disturbing my lower part. This was a very bad idea.
"Chris?"
"What did you say?"
"I said is that why you made us go out of the house? So he can tell Mat?"
"Umm... yeah. I mean... she should know." I replied.
"I guess." She said.
The conversation died there and I felt her head against my back. I swallowed hard on my spit.
'Hey Xerxes?' I called.
'Yeah?'
'I need a distraction... I'm dead.'
The next thing that flashed in my mind was Isabelle's body... Yes, a naked one.
"This is not funny!" I suddenly yelled making Isabelle jolt up in surprise her breast brushing my back making me groan inwardly.
Xerxes was laughing in my mind. You would almost think this doesn't concern him.
"Sorry... Did I disturb you? A... bee! A bee flew near us." I said.
"Bee?! Is it gone?" She yelled looking left and right.
"Oh... it's gone already." I assured her. Well...
"Stupid bees." She muttered.
"Hold on... how do you know the way to this supermarket?"
"Oh... remember that time when you... you know... did..." I stuttered.
"Did what? Talk properly."
"When you had your period!" I yelled before heaving a sigh of relief.
"Oh... and?"
"This was where I came to get the stuff you needed. I bought a jar of Nutella too."
"Oh right! The Nutella... I ate it already." She replied meekly.
"I'm not asking you to share with me." I replied laughing.
"I didn't say I wanted to!" She yelled exasperatedly.
"Oh well... I'll take your word for it." I replied teasing her even more.
"Stop!" She whispered smacking my back.
"Ahhh! That hurts!" I yelled arching my back a little.
"Serves you right!" She said instead before she folded her arms and did a little "hmph!"
I smiled at her cuteness as I pushed her up more.
"Let me get down now... I'm fine. You must be tired." She said suddenly.
"Nah... I'll never get tired of carrying you." I said smiling.
"Such sweet words..." She whispered trailing off. I'm pretty sure she's blushing right now.
"So cute." I muttered reminiscing her face when she saw Dolores message. It was red with anger and jealousy. Even though she won't admit it.
"Why don't you like heels anyways?" I asked when a woman wearing stiletto underneath a suit looking all business like walked past us after giving us a small smile.
I did smile back at her.
"I just don't like it." She replied simply.
I knew the reason, well half.
I know her parents murderer was wearing heels and she watched her kill her parents. Must have been brutal to watch.
"Okay." I replied simply.
She after all didn't know she had told me in her drunk state. She hummed and rest her head on my back again.
I sighed silently. Should I tell her I knew? Or not?
"My parents murderer. She was wearing heels. That bitch." She muttered suddenly.
"How do you know that?" I asked.
"I was there, hidden... watching it all happen. I watched life leave my mother's eyes as she stared back at mine. Then the woman shouted to look for me and Matilda. I was 5, She was 3. After they looked for us for a while, they gave up and left I guess. I couldn't move a muscle as I watched my parents dead bodies on the bed." She finished and sniffed.
I dropped her gently and turned around to see her looking at her feet. I pulled her into my chest as she cried.
I patted her back calming her down and ignoring the sparks flying around. After crying for some minutes, shorter than the one of that night, she stopped.
"They'll be hungry... we're almost at the supermarket." She said looking up at my face.
I pursed my lips when my eyes trailed to her lips that she was biting.
I bent my head and took in her lips releasing it from it's hold between her teeth. I pulled out my tongue to tug at her lower lips to gain access which she gave me easily. I pushed my tongue into her mouth...
"Geez! PDA please!" Someone yelled. We pulled away to see a young boy behind us with his hand to his eyes.
He looked adorable. I pulled my eyes away from him and to Isabelle who was breathing hard.
I brought my hand up and cleaned her face which was still streaked with dried tears.
She gave me a small smile before looking at the small boy.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"Isabelle?! I've missed you so much." He yelled pushing me away and hugged her legs.
I ripped him away before he could even blink his eyes. He might be adorable but he can't put his head on her laps.
"Chris!" She said glaring at me.
I pursed my lips and shrugged. She rolled her eyes at me. She then crouched down to his level looking at him in the eyes.
"Who is he? He looks so scary." He asked Isabelle.
I saw her turn her head to look at me but I kept my eyes fixed on the boy who was looking at Isabelle's face like she was the only person on earth.
I grew jealous as I carried the boy and gave him a chilling smile.
"Hey your eyes off her." I said lowly so only him could hear.
"What are you whispering all about?" She asked as she stood up right before the boy nodded his head vigorously.
"His name." I said simply.
"His name's Christopher." She replied me instead smiling at the boy in my arms.
"What?" I asked.
"Yeah, he's your namesake." She replied taking his arm still grinning at him. The boy returned her grin as they played.
I imagined this moment if this was mine and Isabelle's son. We'd look so cute. I looked at Isabelle who was now stretching her arm to him. He raised his arm and I reluctantly let him go as he went to Isabelle laughing as she played with him.
I brought out my phone and captured the moment. Even though he wasn't our son, there was a bright smile on her face. She liked the boy, you could tell.
"Christopher! Where are you?!" We heard a woman's voice from nearby.
"Right here, Mom! Guess who I found?!" He replied still smiling at Isabelle showing off his dimples.
"Who? Oh My! Isabelle! Where have you been! I've been so worried." The woman said smiling at Isabelle pulling her into a hug.
"Hey Bethany. And thank you... But I've been fine. I just relocated to live with my boyfriend... We're getting married soon." She lied smoothly to the woman.
"Oh my! Congratulations! I'm so happy for you." She said happily.
"Thank you. Here you go." She said dropping Christopher into the floor.
"And you must be the boyfriend... You're looking so handsome. What's your name?" She asked smiling at me.
"It's Christopher." I replied returning the smile. I'm starting to feel just snatching Isabelle away for over two months was inappropriate. She didn't have any time to say goodbye to her friends.
I looked at her as she chatted away with the woman. I felt guilty as I turned my head away from them to see Christopher staring at me. I offered him a small smile which he beamed at. Seems like the scary feeling is gone so soon.
"So what are you doing here?" She asked again.
"Just visiting. We're leaving tomorrow. We're here to get some stuffs from the supermart."
"Then you should leave. It's past 9 already." She replied glancing at her phone.
"It was nice seeing you again."
"The pleasure is all mine and I'm sure Christopher here must be thrilled to see you." She said gesturing at her son.
"I missed him too."
The woman greeted me again before moving away with her son in cue who waved at both of us smiling so much yelling bye.
"That boy is cute." I commented.
"Yeah... Everyone always wanted to hold him. Myself included." She said.
"The supermarket! Let's go." She said again pulling me along as I followed suit.
We soon reached the supermarket and we entered after being checked.
"What should we cook?" Isabelle asked.
"Noodles. Time has gone anyways." I replied shrugging.
"To the junk food aisle then." She said tugging at my arm.
When I got there was when I realized why she called it junk food aisle. Every type of junk food you can think of except the ones you'd have to order like pizza, Hamburgers and Fries... You'd find here.
"I'm craving Nutella." She said suddenly after taking about 50 sachet of raw noodles.
"Be right back." I replied dashing towards the shelf I saw it on the last time.
I took two off the shelf and walked back to Isabelle to see her trying to reach for a soda on the top of the shelf.
I shook my head and walked towards her carrying the whole carton and dumped the two jars of Nutella into the basket in her arm.
"Come on... Anything else you want to get?" I asked.
"I'd have gotten sanitary pads but someone has gotten me the ones I'll use for a lifetime." She replied rolling her eyes.
"Can't blame a man. And why would it be a lifetime? I thought it was every month."
"I'll get pregnant at some point, won't I?" She asked nonchalantly eyeing the tub of ice cream in a far away freezer.
"Pregnant?" I asked again but she had walked away to the shelf holding the freezer of ice cream.
I watched her grab four off it, put it in the basket and walked back to me.
"Alright... We can go now." She said smiling.
"You got ice cream?" I asked eyeing the basket.
"Hn... Strawberry for both of us, Banana split for Mat and... I didn't know what to choose for Alex so I just got the Banana splits for him as well." She counted.
"How do you know my favorite flavor?" I asked amused.
"I'll never tell." She replied in a sing song voice before she giggled and bounced off.
I shook my head and followed her. We got it priced and I paid since I dragged her out so she held nothing but herself.
"It's all your fault. If you hadn't dragged me, I wouldn't have forgotten my wallet." She accused pouting her lips.
I smiled at her holding the urge to kiss her lips. I opened my mouth to reply but a cold voice made the words die on my tongue.
"It really is you. I thought I'd never see you again."
It wasn't from Belle or me... but from behind us.
