Chapter 15: Chapter 15

"I... I mean... They both can't simply stay in this small room." Chris said.

"Exactly, think of what could happen in this small room." I said and blushed in embarrassment.

"We've been in a bigger house but we only just kissed today." I heard his low voice right behind my ears with the warmth from his breath tingling my ears.

I blushed deeply and glared at him feeling my whole face turn red.

"Oh your face is red." He pointed out.

I held the urge to stub him in his toe with my boots and then smirk in victory. And so I did.

"Ouch! What in heaven's name did I ever do to you?" He groaned grabbing the door. His face had turned red in a minutes that I feared I had stubbed him too hard.

"Oh My God! It was a mistake. Are you okay? Damn, that must hurt." I said with worry all over my face.

"It's okay... it doesn't hurt that much." He said through gritted teeth. Veins had popped out of his neck and head.

"No... it's not okay. Off your shoes let me take a look at it." I said crouching down to take off his shoesajd examine the injury I might have caused.

"Isabelle..." He called.

I looked up with moist eyes.

"Are you... crying? Was it too much?" He asked suddenly dropping his arm and crouching to my level.

"What?" I asked confused.

"It was all an act. I didn't mean for you to cry. Stop crying please. I'm sorry." He said with worry in his voice.

"You... were joking?"

"Hn. Now stop crying okay?"

"You bastard! How could you joke about something like that?! I was... really worried!" I yelled in frustration.

"It's okay... just calm down." He said but there was no calming down here.

He was pranking me? I was really really worried I had broken his toe! Bastard.

"Don't you touch me." I said and glared at him.

"Isabelle dear?" I heard a familiar voice.

We both turned our head to an old woman. My landlord.

"Hey, help me up." I said to Chris.

He held my arm while I stood on my feet to smile at the woman.

"Laura, what a nice surprise to see you." I said smiling.

Laura was by far a very nice woman.

"I was really worried since you didn't come home. Your boss came by a few times... he was looking for you as well. That lad likes you really much." She said.

I subconsciously looked up at Chris's face that was getting harder and his jaw tightening.

Why is he getting angry? It's none of his business.

Why did you look up at his face if it wasn't his business? My subconscious mind asked.

"Really? Then I should go say my hi to him since I'm here then. I'll be going back today." I explained.

"Oh. Then I should invite you for a meal. It's been long since I last saw you. What about that friend of yours... Remind me her name? I have amnesia." She said making me remember Kaylee again.

"You mean Kaylee? She's... fine. She's in a better place." I said grimly.

" I'm not saying your house isn't good." I added.

Laura laughed at that before looking up at Chris and then Matilda and Alex behind us.

"Who...?" She asked.

"Oh... this is Chris, my..." I paused not knowing what to say.

"Her boyfriend. She's staying at mine that's why she hasn't been able to come here." He completed.

"Oh... Got yourself a boyfriend, eh?" She asked with a teasing voice.

"Yeah yeah yeah." I replied rolling my eyes.

"And this is Matilda, my sister and her friend Alex."

"Matilda... the one in the hospital... in coma?" She asked.

"That one." I replied widening my smile.

"Oh my God! Dear, come and give me a hug. Oh wow. I'm so happy for you. Come here." Laura said opening her arms.

Matilda stepped forward and hugged her. I smiled at the scene.

"Hope you're doing okay and all that? No mistakes? How are you getting used to your new body?" She asked after breaking the hug.

I looked to Matilda.

"I'm okay. It's like I grew in this body, literally. So yeah... I'm figuring things out and I'm used to this body."

"And you're...?" She asked Chris again. Amnesia can be a bitch.

"Her BOYFRIEND." He said with emphasis on the last word.

"Ei, come here come here." She said happily pulling Chris so he could hug her. She pay his back before breaking the hug.

"If you break her heart just a tiny bit... just a crack... I'll break your bones." She said sternly.

Chris could only look at me in bewilderment and then to Laura and he nodded his head.

"Don't nod at me. Open your mouth and talk." She said glaring at him.

"Yes... yes ma'am. I promise I won't break her heart. Not even a tiny crack." He said firmly.

If only...

"So what are y'all doing here if you're not moving in?"

"Oh right. My sister... needs a place to stay. Then I remembered my sweet old mama and I thought why not bring her to keep you company?" I said smiling.

"Oh my! Definitely! But what of the young man?" She asked nodding at Alex.

Alex bowed his head slightly which she reciprocated with a smile.

"That's the problem. I thought they could stay together. Turns out the room is smaller than I thought."

"Eh? I have a vacant room just opposite yours. The woman living there moved out last month. She's getting married." Laura said.

"Really? Could we see it?" Chris chipped in.

"Of course. Let me get the key." She said and looked to the stairs. She sighed and made her way before I stopped her.

"Hey, come on. I could get it for you." I said.

"Really? Thank you. You've been to my room. Just check the drawer by my bed." She explained.

I nodded and walked downstairs before I noticed someone was behind me. I turned my head and almost fell to the ground when I saw Alex's black eyes.

"Geez! You shouldn't scare people like that!" I said clutching my chest.

"I... I didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to thank you for your kindness. I mean you don't even know the reason why Chris has decided to help me but you're still helping me. Thank you very much." He said.

I turned around and walked to Laura's room with him speaking behind me.

"Nah... it's nothing. I'm doing this for Matilda. You probably know she likes you and you like her. So if I don't help you out, who knows what that silly girl would do?" I said rolling my eyes and pulled out the bunch of keys.

"Thank you nonetheless." He said his voice breaking at the end.

"Hey, it's okay. Just don't break her heart and tell her whatever it is you're going through rather than her finding out by herself or probably from someone else. It's the worst feeling ever." I said reminiscing the time I found out Chris was a wolf.

"Hm." He replied and nodded cleaning his eyes.

"We should go back."

We went up the stairs and saw Laura saying something to Chris. Then he laughed while she joined. Matilda was... I have no idea.

I walked towards them and then like that, they snapped their mouths shut.

I pouted and gave the keys to Laura who proceeded and opened the door.

"Oh well..." I heard Matilda's voice.

"We'll take the room." Chris said.

The room was the same size as mine or should I say Matilda's.

"Same account number right? So for two people... that's 1,000 dollars?" I asked pulling out my phone.

"I'll pay for it." Chris said suddenly.

"I'll pay. He's my sister's friend." I argued.

"He's my brother."

Bro-brother?!

"When and how?" I asked baffled.

"Doesn't matter. He's my younger brother." Chris said again.

"How about I pay for Matilda and you pay for Alex then?" I asked.

"That's... okay."

We completed the payment and Laura had gone back to her room to take her medication.

Matilda had chosen my room while Alex was left with the new room.

I found some of my clothes in the wardrobe... I didn't take any of them anyways.

I pulled out a suspender shorts that had striped shirt underneath it. I wore it and we all got to work.

Myself and Matilda in Matilda's room and Chris and Alex in Alex's room.

After an hour to two, we were done with her room.

Black paint was everywhere- literally everywhere. Yes, we played a little while painting the room. It was fun though.

"Guys? I brought you some fruits so you can have them while you worked." We heard Laura's voice.

We all stepped out to see her with two plates of fruits. Alex accepted it from her and thanked her.

"There's no... fork?" Alex said.

"Fork? Oh right! Fork!" She exclaimed.

"I still have some forks in here. Just needs a little washing. I'll be right back." I said and dashed into my room to wash the forks. I came out with four forks but Matilda was already in the room with a plate.

"I'll be right back. Let me take the forks to the boys." I said and walked out.

I knocked the door and opened it to see Chris looking at me and Alex as well.

"Hey... I brought the forks." I said.

"Thanks... Place it there." Chris said.

"Wow... this looks great. It's really beautiful." I said.

"Brother Chris suggested the design. And moreso, blue is a fine color." Alex said blushing.

"Brother? Are you guys serious about this stuff?" I asked.

"Hn." They both replied. I nodded my head and smiled.

"Good for both of you. Let me... just take a picture of the room." I said.

"No. You'd then show Matilda. No." Alex said firmly.

"What... I can't believe you guys are being so stingy right now. It's just a picture." I exclaimed.

"Doesn't matter." Alex replied.

I glanced at Chris who was painting nonchalantly not even acknowledging my presence in the room. I huffed and gave him a blow before walking out.

"What took you so long?" Matilda asked as I stepped out.

"You would not believe those guys. I just complimented the room and asked to take a picture and they totally turned me down. Chris didn't even look at me!" I yelled.

"Why are you yelling at me then? Take it out with Chris." She replied instead.

I didn't reply but I stabbed a watermelon with the fork imagining it was his head. I pushed it into my mouth with a smirk and then looked at the soon.

His head would have healed.

"Aish! Fucking wolf..." I yelled out glaring at the direction of the room.

"What?"

"Nothing much. What are you doing?" I asked seeing she wasn't paying much attention to me.

"Oh nothing. I'm thinking." She said thoughtfully.

"Yeah? Let's brainstorm. About what?" I asked in enthusiasm.

"I was just wondering why Chris is treating Alex so good. Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that his room is just across mine..." She paused and then her face became a tomato.

I laughed at the scene choking on the strawberry in my mouth.

I coughed slightly and nodded for her to continue.

"He even declared him as his brother! They've only met for a day! That's just... absurd."

"I mean... Alex called him "Brother Chris." earlier when I went to their room but... there must be a reason. I'm sure he'll tell you soon... if there's anything."

"I hope so. Cause my head is going crazy and banging on these thought."

"Hey you shouldn't overuse your body. It's only been... two weeks since you woke up from coma. I don't want anything to happen again." I said sadly.

"Hey, I'll be fine. I promise." She said holding my other hand on the table that wasn't holding a fork.

"I hate to disrupt this moment but would you like to... view Alex's new room?" Chris asked.

I rolled my eyes and sat back down. I huffed and continued eating my fruits.

"Oh! I wanna see!" Matilda said and ran out.

I stabbed another fruit while glaring at him. I placed it in my mouth before I realized it was grapes. I looked down at the plate.

I immediately stabbed about 5 altogether and stick it in my mouth.

"Hey, you'll choke on one of it." Chris said grabbing the fork from me.

"Hey!" I yelled my mouth full of grape. I shook my head and chewed the ones in my mouth.

I saw him shaking his head at me. I huffed again and turned my face suddenly interested in the black paint.

"Belle?"

"Belle?"

"Isabelle?"

I turned to look at him and then rolled my eyes and turned away choosing another spot on the wall.

"Are you... angry? You're angry?"

I glared at him keeping my gaze on his nose. Definitely not his eyes... I would suddenly feel like I'm getting lost. And not his lips, I would feel like kissing it.

I blushed at the thought and cleared my throat turning away again.

"Belle. Why are you angry?" He asked.

"Hmph!"

"Is it about the picture?" He asked again.

I didn't reply him but I kept my face to the side.

"Look... I took a picture and then changed the design since you liked it."

I held the urge to turn my head mad glance at the picture but I did not.

"Belle..." He whined suddenly his voice was right behind me.

I subconsciously turned my body and then my lips brushed on his. That was how close he was.

"Hey!" I yelled and then mumbled.

He was kissing me. In Matilda's room! That is just so... good.

I pulled him closer with his shirt and ran my other hand through his hair. But what if Matilda or Alex came...

Oh God! Chris would be the end of me.

"Hey... you... stop... Mat... Alex..." I said incoherent words that even I don't understand.

"Should we stop?" He asked against my lips.

"N... Yes." I said and pushed him away slightly. He still didn't leave me.

"I like your clothes. It looks cute on you." He said making me blush again.

"Isa... the room is... Oh my Eyes!"

I glanced at Chris and then the door where Mtilfa was standing covering her eyes with both hands and immediately pushed him away. He finally and reluctantly let me go.

"Mat? It's definitely not what it looks like."

"It's what it looks like. We were kissing." Chris said from behind me.

I turned around to him eyes wide. I glared at him and then turned to Matilda.

"You know lying isn't particularly a good act. Just say the truth." He whispered into my ears.

"Hey!" I yelled.

"So that's the truth Matilda. It's exactly what it looks like. Alright?"

Matilda nodded her head slowly blinking at him.

"What going on?" We heard Alex's voice from behind. We all turned around to see him standing in front of his room looking at us.

I stared wide eyed while Chris was looking like nothing was wrong and even Matilda was not looking weird.

I can't believe my younger sister is holding it together than I am!

"Oh right. Alex it's a normal thing for boyfriends and girlfriends to... you know–Kiss?" Chris asked.

Alex's cheeks turned a slight shade of pink as he subconsciously glanced to Matilda and then Chris.

"Yeah,I guess."

"Then that's what's going on." He replied simply shrugging his shoulders.

"Oh God! Limit the PDA please." Matilda said and walked into Alex's bedroom Alex following after.

I blinked at the room and then Chris who shrugged.

"Well, since we already helped them set up... we can leave now." I said.

"So what do you plan on doing with that?" Chris said suddenly pointing his hand at a packed up bag at the corner right by the door.

"I... I mean... burn but I can't do it. It's too painful." I said stuttering. I couldn't burn Kaylee's clothes. I knew for sure I would cry.

"Hey hey... Deep Breaths." I heard from behind me before I released a breath I didn't even know I was holding.

"Look at me... I'll help you. Alright. I'll burn the clothes for you. She means nothing of significance to me... except I would have loved to torture her a bit for putting you in danger."  He said nonchalantly.

"You stupid-" I said and laughed lightly.

"Now come here." Chris said pulling me towards my-Matilda's room. I have no idea why I keep calling it my room. I mean, it's been over two months since I last came here. But I guess Old habits do die hard.

"I'll be right back, just sit here, eat the fruits if you want to and let me go and slowly torture Kaylee's clothes." He said coldly.

I shook my head at him and then said "her bed as well." I grinned.

"Here's my phone... You're lucky I love you." He said simply and dropped a kiss on my forehead striding out.

I blinked and blushed furiously like a crazy person.

I was bored after a while and wanted to walked to the window to see if I'd catch a glimpse of Chris. As I was about to stand up his phone chimed.

An incoming message perhaps?

I took the phone from the bed where he had placed it beside me and was about to make my way downstairs when the screen lit up.

I wanted to off the screen but my eyes read the message unknowingly.

It was a message from... "Lifeline." and then a bunch of love emojis. The actual fuck?!
