Chapter 10: Chapter 10

CHAPTER 10

RYKER

I stood over the body of the dead guard and I couldn't help but feel disgusted about the entire situation.

“Have there been any signs of her?" I questioned looking furiously at the man that was behind where I was.

I most definitely knew what the answers were at that moment as there was no way anyone would commit such an atrocity and still hang around.

“FIND HER!” I ordered.

Filled with fury, I watched as the men walked away from the dungeon, I stood there for a minute trying to replay the whole scenario at the back of my mind.

Her weapon of choice was still stuck into the man's neck, she could be naive and weak, but twice has this woman surprised me with how impressive she thinks.

“I hope they find you infidel, I hope they do." With that, I let out a low growl and walked out.

Finding sleep that night wasn't as peaceful as I had thought it would be, it was the other night since I had brought the woman under my roof filled with the heavy thoughts of her and urges from my wolf.

Two things came to my mind as it started raining heavily, first was the fact that it would be a lot harder to find her and the other had to do with the fact that she wouldn't have made it far.

Still, I couldn't get the face of the woman out of my mind. With the irritation of the entire situation, I pulled my robe and walked out to the balcony.

It was almost a few hours till dawn but there were still no signs from the men through my wolf link, that they'd found her.

I smiled to myself again, at the fact that the girl was fucking crazier than I had thought, standing there in the soft wind amidst heavy heartbeats, all I could feel at that moment was the darkness that pooled like liquid in my eyes.

The stressed silence made it hard to breathe each moment, seeming like a stretch through time to a point of Infinity.

At long last, the time I had been expecting arrived, an auditory cry from one of the Omega guards filled the vicinity along with the hint that she had been caught.

*****

She was covered with dark soil and marks from the guards on her skin, reluctantly my gaze turned to the mating gland by her neck, and sighed in relief that it was still intact.

“What Is your name? Never got to ask."

She hesitates.

Not only did she not hysterically look straight at my face with no hint that she was going to answer, but she also had that bit of stubbornness as well.

It turned out that bringing out words from such people was a specialty of mine, I merely snapped my fingers and watched as she was slapped.

“Do you want to know what would happen if you don't abide by what I am saying?" I grimaced.

" I'd have all these men take turns with you till you bleed.”

She just takes my word for it. Her mouth forms a look of shock and dismay and seemed dumbfounded into silence as well.

“I Can see you are the stubborn type, are you daring me?"

I didn’t expect her response. I could see that she was traumatized by all of these but

I decided to get as many words from her as I could.

“Won't you speak, you come here and kill one of my men thinking you can go free?"

She blinked her eyes looking at me confused, the chain that she was bound with dangles and made cranky noises each time she moved.

All of a sudden I was mad at everything, I was mad at the fact my wolf was pairing up and it was unreciprocated.

I was furious at my wolf for picking her in the first place.

I stood up to a closer look at her face and could feel my inner wolf fighting within me as it kept demanding I move closer to her.

Unable to fight back the urge I took a few steps closer and tilted at her face to see the red mark, I could feel the aura of my wolf rebuke me for how my mate was being treated.

“You do know I have the power to decide what happens here.”

She nods slowly, hanging on my every word. I could see that she was frightened.

“I would ask this question again and I want the damn truth." I paused and stared deep into her eyes. “Do you agree?"

She holds her breath, her fingers trembling. “Yes!" She grimaced.

I watched as she held her breath as I took the remaining steps until I was only an inch away.

Her scent was heavy now, enough that it felt Intoxicating—She smelled like sewage but still, there was that distinct scent that found

its way into my skin, embedding itself deep.

“Why did you kill the guard… “ I spoke calmly.

Once again she stayed quiet, I braced my palms on the table on either side of me, stepping even closer.

Why are you afraid of me?” I asked

“I’m not—.” she countered.

There was too long of a pause as we sat there in silence, my eyes never leaving hers.

As it was it felt like I’d been so vulnerable with her after she was so brave. The thought about the situation and how to make it better filled my mind.

“You’re the only one I want to tell,” she whispers finally. “I have a feeling that maybe you, of all people, might understand.”

It felt ridiculous but at the same time necessary for me to ask and make the situation better than it was.

“Leave us alone."

They all did as told, reluctant to leave me alone with the man-killer at first, the last of them was soon making their way out of the door.

“ We are alone now…”

Even in her prison scrubs now stained, she was still disturbingly attractive, it seemed as though my level of scent increased Leaving hers phenomenal.

The longer we stayed together in the confined space, the stronger her scent caresses my mind and thoughts.

“I didn't want to kill him, he was all over me and … “

“What! I don't understand what you're talking about."

“What I am saying is he tried to rape me.”

You know she’s a liar, a voice inside whispers, somehow I still didn't want to believe that she had taken the man on her own and the fact that she was hiding it was part of what made me so angry.

“Fine, let's assume he tried raping you, where did you find this.”

I picked up the spoon that had its sharp end still soaked in blood and stared at her, I could tell she was telling the truth about the fact that he tried to rape her as I can practically feel it in my bones.

Still staring at her as she stays frozen in place, left me thinking—

“You don’t have to tell me how it happened or why you killed him… You've done that already.” I whisper.

“It would be better if you tell me who your accomplice is instead.”

At the moment I said that word, I could see the fear in her eyes, giving me a hint that there was someone else in all of this, I would have asked that she should be tortured till I had my answers, but my wolf restricted me from doing such as the whole scenario was starting to look twisted than I thought.

The more she was right there, the more she seemed to me as a puzzle— more layered and complex than I imagined.

It’s a shame she doesn’t have a wolf, a woman like her would fit my Luna with such guts.

I could never, ever understand how she did it, how she could get him off guard and get him killed.

It was revenge.

What does she know about revenge?

“I did this all alone. " She eyed the spoon. “I took that from him."

My eyes widened. “I’m sure you’ve seen that you are at risk of getting your head decapitated if you tell any more lies. “

Even if I didn't mean the words, I could see the look of concern on her face. She was looking very worried with the minutes that went by.

“I’m asking you, again and I am giving you a second chance to get talking about this.”

I expect her to get worried and become fearful enough to reply, she narrows her eyes and sighs.

“I did it all by myself."

“Alright,” I said, after a long pause.

“Alright?” She asked, looking at me puzzled.

“You are free for now and will be returned to the dungeon, tomorrow I will decide your fate," I muttered.

She says nothing, and even if she could…

If there was one person she could take revenge on… I was most definitely the one for that.

“Thank you,” she says, at long last and I could have almost laughed from the absurdity of

She thanked me.

I snapped my fingers again and the guards returned to drag her away to another cell.

The entire feeling of keeping this woman was starting to get dangerous. I needed to unlock the bond we had as that was the only way to bring an end to the madness.

I walked away to the balcony, by then the sun was sending towards earth its first rays of light.

Standing there one question filled my mind, how do I get rid of this woman?
