Chapter 81: Chapter 81

Charlotte glanced at the approaching figure. It was the time for her session with Matt and she was already feeling drained. Not only the initiation ceremony was stressing her out but the fact that Azraiel won’t be here for two days was also putting a hamper on her mood.

“Luna!” Matt bowed his head slightly.

“Please, just call me Charlotte.” It was weird hearing it. Luna.

“As you wish.” Matt smiled slightly.

“How is Katya?” She hasn’t met her yet but Azraiel told her that Katya was now living in a cabin near Matt’s house.

“She is better. She is still weak but out of danger.” Maybe it was just her overthinking but she saw his eyes soften at her name.

“Great!”

“Here, I want you to read these.” Matt handed her the books that he has been carrying. They were about the various supernatural species and the major events in the supernatural world.

“You know that you might be a hybrid, right?” Matt asked and looked at her. She nodded in answer and he continued. “We have no idea if your mother was just human or not but it’s clear that you aren’t just human, at least not anymore. Katya believes that the beings inside you are not active yet but they are definitely there, watching everything, understanding everything. She wants you to read these books about the various species and watch out for your feelings. If there are any species that you instantly connect to while reading about them, just note it down and everything that you felt in the moment. It’ll help us shorten the possibilities.” Matt explained.

Charlotte nodded and a surge of guilt and gratefulness surged in her heart. Katya suffered because of her and she was still trying to help her.

“I’ll do that.” Charlotte smiled gratefully and kept the books aside.

“Come on. Let’s begin our wolf meditation.”

Following Matt’s lead, Charlotte sat down on the ground, crossing her legs and begins the meditation after doing some breathwork.

This is the same meditation that she did after seeing Azraiel’s wolf in the woods for the first time. She has been seeing Azraiel’s wolf during her meditation ever since. But till now there has been no sign of her own wolf.

She began to focus and slowly delve into the meditation, away from her current surroundings and into the land covered with snow. As she approaches her destination, a strange new feeling develops in her stomach, as if she knows that what she is going to see today will be different, and bad.

As her eyes fall on the group of wolves, she immediately sees Azraiel’s wolf, the Alpha, a white wolf. But there is something different. All other wolves are immersed in their own world and the Alpha is looking at her. Charlotte’s breath comes out in short spurts, leaving a little bit of smoke. A sick feeling makes its way to her heart as she gulps and waits. Something is about to happen…I can fucking feel it in my bones.

She is proved right when a large wolf enters the scene.

Black wolf!

Charlotte’s heart drops in her stomach as she recalls her dream, the one where she saw a black wolf that was her and destruction all around her. The dream that led her to tell Azraiel the truth.

Fuck!

Please don’t be me.

Charlotte watched in dread as the black wolf reached the white wolf and sat down. They both kept looking at the other smaller wolves occasionally turning to each other. The black wolf looked exactly like the one in her dream…and then the black wolf looked at her, right into her eyes!

Charlotte’s breath got caught in her throat as the golden amber eyes clashed with her black ones. She didn’t dare to breathe, her eyes begging to stray away and break the eye contact….

and she did. Charlotte blinked.

But….

When she opened her eyes the next second, the black wolf wasn’t there anymore. Instead, a woman was standing next to the white wolf. Her back was towards Charlotte so she couldn’t see her face but, she’d recognize her from anywhere just by looking at the hair.

It was her…Charlotte!

Charlotte watched in silence as she slowly turned and faced Charlotte.

Shit!

Charlotte’s eyes widened at the face. It was still Charlotte’s face but completely changed, it makes any sense. Her eyes were not black anymore. They seemed bigger and wider, almost demonic as their color changed to a deep red, the iris covering most of her eye. Her cheekbones were toned and her jawline sharp. Her lips looked fuller and plump, and she’d say they were kissable if not for the long sharp fangs protruding out of her mouth and blood dripping from the corner of her mouth. Charlotte blinked again, afraid that she’d hurt herself.

When she opened her eyes, the woman which means her, wasn’t there anymore.

Charlotte looked across the vast land to see if there was a chance she was still here, but she saw no one but wolves.

She moved her eyes back to the white wolf, and there she was!

Another version of her!

Dressed in a long, body-hugging black gown with a revealing neckline, Charlotte stared at this version of herself that looked extremely beautiful and dangerous. Her lips were painted a dark red, her violet eyes were staring right into her black ones. Her hair was curled and flowing freely on her shoulders till her waist. The glint in those violet eyes scared Charlotte to death.

Charlotte stepped back out of fear and looked away for a second or else she’d die of a heart attack while doing meditation. When she looked at the scene again, there was a different version of her standing in front of Azraiel’s wolf.

What on earth…?

This version of hers was extremely short and slender, almost like a child. Her ears were a bit pointed and upturned and her nose too sharp than the original. She has mossy dark green eyes and pale skin. She was dressed in a light blush pink dress that reached her knees. She was looking at Charlotte with a smile and a mischievous danger in her eyes. That smile looked anything but friendly!

“Charlotte!” She heard someone calling her name and so she looked around the snow-covered land to identify the voice. The weird small version of her was still looking at her with a smile and she couldn’t find the source of the voice.

“Charlotte! Wake up!” Someone was shaking her shoulders but she couldn’t find it in her to return to the real world. She struggles to move away from the scene, from the scary little Charlotte, but to no avail. It was as if her feet were glued to the snow.

She heard a splash and in a second she was drenched in water. Charlotte gasped as the cold water hit her face and opened her eyes.

“Thank God!” Azraiel was hugging her wet form, his face painted with worry. Matt and Ayleen stood behind him with their faces mirroring Azraiel’s.

She closed her eyes and breathed his scent so she could calm down. Her heart was racing wildly and she was sure everyone here could hear the sound.

“Are you okay?” Azraiel asked as he cupped her face, wiping the water from her brow.

She nodded numbly, “What happened?”

Azraiel didn’t answer right away but glanced at Matt briefly. Matt stepped forward, “We were doing a meditation. It was fine for a few minutes but then you started shaking vigorously. Your heart started beating at an abnormal rate. It also looked like you were having trouble breathing. I tried calling your name and shaking your shoulders but you didn’t come out from the meditation. At last, I called the Alpha.” Matt explains, still looking troubled.

Charlotte stares at the three faces in front of her.

Oh, God! If seeing herself in the form of those species scared her to death, then who’s to say it won’t scare the shit out of everyone else?
