Chapter 129: Chapter 129

The room is silent. Everyone present is interpreting the information as per their fears and imaginations.

“I know this is hard to process…,’’ The Head Coordinator breaks the silence. “I understand that there are a lot of things to be considered before taking any action but I’d like to propose something…” He looks at Azraiel.

Azraiel nods for him to proceed.

“There are hundreds of beings outside your pack's border. If they all shift together at the same tomorrow, things are bound to go out of hand. I know your warriors are competent and large in number but it will create a lot of pressure and tension among your pack members. So, I think it would be better to shift some of Charlotte’s pack members to a place that has more space and where they can’t hurt people even if they want to!”

“And what place would that be?” Katya asks.

“The Queen’s Palace!” Azraiel answers.

Daniel nods. “The Queen’s Palace!”

Queen’s palace!

Charlotte frowns. Azraiel told her that the King’s Castle caught fire 23 years ago and only one wing remains in its original form. Everything else burned down. The building is now being used for administrative purposes. Is the Queen’s palace different from the King’s Castle?

“It’s perfect!” Matt says. “The Queen’s palace is surrounded by forest and fields. There is no pack around the grounds and it is still intact.” Matt sighs in relief.

“Is…is the Queen’s Palace not on the same ground as the King’s Castle?” Charlotte asks confusedly.

“No…” Azraiel shakes his head. “The Queen’s palace is actually the building that was used as a packhouse for the female warriors. Our late Queen was an excellent fighter and wanted the females to have equal training and other facilities as men. Women who were interested in becoming warriors joined and trained on those grounds and live in the packhouse. It’s the perfect place to deal with a situation like this.” Azraiel explains.

Charlotte nods in understanding.

“Do you mind if do that?” Azraiel asks Charlotte.

Charlotte hesitates, “No… but I am worried that they’ll be really far if something goes wrong.”

Azraiel nods.

“I think that’s a risk we’ll just have to take!” Daniel sighs.

Azraiel nods.

“You are going to talk to your pack?” Daniel asks Charlotte.

“Yes.” Charlotte nods but feels like a lump is forming in her heart.

“Katya! Can you make sure that the magic around the pack borders is unbreakable and that anyone who doesn’t belong to the pack cannot enter the pack?” Azraiel asks

“Yes, I can!” Katya nods.

“Matt, Kira…prepare the warriors and select some of them to go to the Queen’s palace in case things don’t go as planned.”

“Yes, Alpha!” Matt and Kira say together.

“I am going to order warriors of the Royal Army to be ready, just in case!” Daniel adds.

“Thank you!” Azraiel says.

“Theo…increase the surveillance in the woods! I want to know if anything is happening out of our sight!”

“Yes, Alpha!” Theo nods.

Their discussion goes on for about ten more minutes and then everyone disperses to complete their own task.

As Charlotte walks to her pack she starts to think about how they’ll react to his news. Besides, they can’t really take a mix of species to the Queen’s palace, or else the whole motive of doing so will be defeated. So, which species should they take, and even if they choose a species, will they ALL turn into one same species after the shift?

Charlotte gulps as the seconds pass by. She takes a deep breath and makes sure that she isn’t reeking of worry before she calls and talks to Nicholas.

Here goes nothing!

*******

“Azraiel, I think we should take people who want to turn into the scariest supernatural to the Queen’s Palace. That’s the only way we can reduce the risk of a massacre!” Daniel says when they are alone in the room.

“I agree!” Azraiel says, “But do we really know which species is the most dangerous?” He asks.

“No!” Daniel sighs.

“I’d say we don’t take werewolves, werecats and witches since I believe we can successfully control the outburst of energies.” Azraiel suggests.

“You are right! Besides, it’s highly likely that Charlotte will turn into a werewolf based on the symptoms we have seen. When that happens, we want her pack members to be around her. It can help to control them as well as her.”

Azraiel nods. “Vampires?” He asks.

“I’d say so…maybe we can take weredragons and sirens along with them?” Daniel suggests.

Azraiel nods. “There is no way of getting it right like this. Vampires, weredragons and sirens will have to do.”

“Let me prepare the Royal Army!” Daniel says and leaves the room to make a call.

Azraiel dials a number even though he knows he can mindlink her.

“Ayleen…Can you come to my office?” Azraiel tries his damn best to not let the helplessness seep into his voice.

“I am coming right away!” Ayleen doesn’t hesitate.

He doesn’t have to wait for long as Ayleen knocks just a few minutes after their call.

“Come.”

“What’s wrong?” She immediately asks when she sees his face.

Azraiel narrates everything that has happened this morning.

As more and more words come out of his mouth, Ayleen’s face grows grim.

“What do you need me to do?” Ayleen asks, desperate to help in any way she can.

“Can you call that Vampire friend of yours? He might be able to tell us ways in which we can control the newly turned vampires.” Azraiel pleads.

“Of course, I’ll call him right away.” She pauses for a second. “I also know a weredragon and a weretiger from H.O.P.E. mission. Is it okay if I call them too?”

“Of course…that would be really helpful. Also, ask them if they know about other species.”

“Will do.” She nods.

“Is…Is Charlotte okay?” She asks, concern evident on her face.

Azraiel sighs. “She is worried. She didn’t say anything but I can feel her worry through the mate bond.”

Ayleen nods.

“It’ll be okay, Azraiel. We have always conquered our troubles, we’ll do the same now.” She tries to cheer him up.

Azraiel smiles despite his worries. “I know we will.” It’s not much but her words are like a cold breeze on a hot summer day.

She squeezes his hand hoping she can provide him a bit more comfort than her words did.

“I’ll be back with good news in a few minutes.” She says and leaves to call her friends.

Once she is out of the room, she immediately dials her vampire friend who later turns out to be their biggest ally.

“Hey, Victor! I need your help!”
