Chapter 128: Chapter 128

Charlotte scans the area in front of her with alert eyes. She can feel a headache coming as she thinks about what Azraiel told her a few minutes ago.

The Head-Coordinator is on his way to the pack and wants to share some crucial information. He asked Azraiel to ask her pack members where they want to reside for the rest of their lives…in the werewolf world...in the human world…or with their respective species packs…also to ask them if they indeed turn out to be therians then as which creature would they want to spend their lives as?

As soon as it was confirmed that Richard was indeed Austin Jones of the Black Onyx Pack, Azraiel put some warriors to the task of tracing back the ancestors of her pack members. She kind of knows what he suspects but she won’t know for sure till he decides to reveal everything.

In front of her, Theo along with several other warriors was helping Nicholas and Jamie to gather information about everyone’s ancestors. She herself talked to several pack members….these witches, werecats, vampires, and whatnot have no idea about their ancestors.

Some were adopted, some were put in foster care…some grew up in the orphanage and some lost their parents so young that they don’t remember them!

What bothers her is that it’s the same with her…She doesn’t know anything about her mother….or father!

She talks to some more members and as she continues to do that, her worry grows even more. Before this revelation that this all might have something to do with what happened in 1975, she was calm and content. She wasn’t scared of her shift before this information made its way to them. But now, she feels that it isn’t just about her shift. The future of so many people now depends on her.

“Charlotte?”

She turns around when she hears Theo’s voice.

She excuses herself and walks to him.

“The Head- Coordinator is here. Let’s go!”

Charlotte nods and after giving a few instructions to Nicholas she leaves with Theo.

The atmosphere in the office is tense when they enter the packhouse.

“Hello...!” She tries to smile at Daniel.

He does his best to replicate her smile with a nod but his face says it all. The news he brings is not good.

“So…?” Azraiel looks questioningly at Daniel.

“I received a text this morning…from the head. The information in that text could create panic so I decided to come here…and discuss a way you guys want to convey it to your pack.” He looks at Charlotte.

“Go on.” Azraiel pushes.

“The text says- ‘ Charlotte’s pack will shift after Charlotte’s shift…but not in the typical sense. This species can shift into any other supernatural species but not at any time or anywhere. A shifter can choose to be a supernatural in one environment only. For example, if someone chooses to be a werewolf in the werewolf world, he can’t be any other supernatural in the werewolf world. The same goes for every other realm in this universe. Ask them where they want to live for the rest of their lives and as who! They can choose to turn into any creature in the werewolf world that they don’t want to be as in their chosen world.’”

Charlotte blinked.

What?

What the actual fuck?

Everyone in the room had the same reaction.

“Okay…” Azraiel breathes deeply. “So if Charlotte chooses to be wolf in here, she can’t be a wolf in the human world or anywhere else?”

“Correct.” Daniel sighs. “It’s not just that!”

Charlotte frowns. What else now?

“Shifting isn’t that easy! Genetics plays a very important role in the shifts of supernaturals. It doesn’t matter if a person wants to be someone during a shift, the species of one’s parents definitely influences the supernatural one shifts into! I know I haven’t seen a Therian shift but I can tell you from my experiences with several creatures I have met and realms I have been to; it isn’t a piece of cake. Every creature’s shifting process is different.” Daniel says agitatedly.

Charlotte feels lightheaded from the information that just came out of his mouth.

“A vampire craves blood when it shifts for the first time…human blood!” Theo says in a low voice.

“Werewolves too!” Kira whispers.

“Witches have a hard time controlling their power and often create havoc when they first shift,” Katya adds with a worried look on her face.

“We only know a few things about some of the other supernaturals…but not about All of them!” Matt says.

Charlotte could feel the tension in the room rising with every passing second.

“So, I’ll have to ask my pack to choose what they want to be by tomorrow?” Charlotte asks the rhetorical question she knows the answer to.

Most of them had no idea that they weren’t human until a few days ago. How the hell are they going to decide who they want to be for the rest of their life? Most importantly, how are they going to decide what to shift into in this werewolf world?

She can’t begin to imagine the destruction all the newly turned supernaturals could do tomorrow!

Suddenly an image makes its way to her head! She remembers the day she saw the vision. The one where she is the one leading the destruction. ( See chapter 23 )

Did-did her vision warn her?

Oh God! Is this happening because of her?

“Did you ask them about their ancestors?” Daniel asks her and she looks like she could pass out any minute.

“Yeah…most of them don’t know anything about their ancestors.” She replies weakly.

Azraiel senses the worry in her voice and mindlinks her, “It’s gonna be alright. Don’t lose hope. I am here, Okay?”

She gulps and nods.

“Is there something you suspect?” Theo asks with furrowed brows. He wanted to know why Daniel was so hell-bent on knowing about their ancestors.

“I-I” he looks at Azraiel and Charlotte briefly and then looks down. “I don’t have any proof but I have a theory. I don’t mean to scare you guys but it is important to consider this.”

He looks apologetically at Charlotte.

“What is it?” Charlotte asks.

Charlotte has a feeling that she knows what his theory is…and so does Azraiel!

“If Austin is a white wolf…from the Black Onyx Pack who is trying to eliminate other white wolves, it is possible that those other white wolves are from the same pack too! Since he was after you, it is possible that you too are from the Black Onyx Pack and so are your pack members!”
