Chapter 123: Chapter 123

Katya rushes to the pack office as soon as she reads the message Theo sent him last night. As per the reports, Alana is dead.

Alana Seashore is dead.

Apparently, she was found dead in her house. The medical reports suggest it was a drug overdose and didn’t actually mean to kill herself.

Katya has seen the pictures of the dead body and it definitely looks like Alana but she still feels that something is wrong.

From what she has heard, Alana was strong-spirited and a powerful witch. The chances of a person who detected strong magic on Caleb so easily overdosing on drugs are really low.

She knocks on the door twice.

“Come in.”

Azraiel is already seated when she enters his office. Theo and Matt are discussing something.

“Ah..Katya…please sit.” Azraiel says.

Katya takes a seat in front of him.

“What do you think about the death of Alana?” Azraiel asks as he leans back in his chair and looks up.

“I don’t think she is dead.”

For the next few seconds, she can feel the eyes of the other two wolves drilling holes in the back of her head.

“Why?” Azraiel asks her. It looks like her words haven’t surprised him at all.

Well….it’s Azraiel.

“Look, I didn’t know Alana personally but I grew up hearing about her. She is really powerful which is the reason her coven wasn’t strong enough to stop her from doing black magic. Now, I don’t know about Richard but I doubt she’d be a fool to trust him completely and get herself killed. I think it’s a setup.”

“Set up? How?” Theo joins the conversation and comes to sit beside her.

“I-I think that Alana might have staged her death so that Richard wouldn’t look out for her.”

As soon as she says that Theo and Azraiel give each other a look that makes her think that one of them must have already thought about it. Judging by Theo’s raised eyebrow, it was definitely Azraiel.

“Okay…” Theo drags it and looks at Matt.

Soon enough, Matt joins them and sits on her other side.

“What now?” Matt speaks up. “Are we back to square one?”

Katya frowns at his tone.

Azraiel surely notices that and looks at Katya.

“Is there any way for us to contact Alana?”

Katya takes a moment to think about the question.

“To contact an unrelated person, we usually need the personal belonging of the person we want to contact. We don’t have any such thing. But..”

“But?” Theo eggs on.

“I don’t think we would need to contact her. If Richard was indeed after her, then she must be arriving at our doorsteps very soon.”

Azraiel nods.

“Yes…I believe that too.” Then he sighs.

“In the meantime, I want you to work on lifting the magic from Caleb.”

Katya nods, though she is unsure if she could do that alone.

Katya gets up to leave and Matt follows her out.

They walk in silence till they are out of the packhouse.

“Theo told me that you felt like someone was watching you yesterday.” Matt suddenly spoke up.

Katya is once again reminded of that feeling. “Yeah..”

“Well..to be honest, ever since we left your home, I’ve been feeling the same.” Matt’s words shocked Katya.

That’s not good…not good at all… she thinks to herself.

“I-I don’t believe it’s anything negative at all…” Katya gulps.

“But I do believe that someone has been watching us since we left our home…and because we still feel it in the pack territory which is protected by my magic…then it surely is someone more powerful than me.”

“Do you think they will hurt us…whoever is watching us?” Matt asks.

“I don’t know, Matt. I don’t know.”

Kira watches as Charlotte fights the female warrior in the field. She has grown stronger and wiser. She is no more just a human. She is now the Luna of the Blue Orchid pack, mate of the Trueblood Azraiel Michaelson.

In two days, it will be the Full Moon.

The day when Charlotte shifts.

No one knows what will happen but for some reason, no one is scared.

Even Kira, in her heart, knows that Charlotte will survive.

What she is worried about is what Charlotte might turn into. She has heard about Charlotte’s episodes, of the various beings inside her. What if she doesn’t turn into a wolf but another species that doesn’t go along well with the werewolves? Will the Alpha put her mate above the pack or will their pack remain without a Luna?

Kira pushes her thoughts away as she notices Charlotte coming over to her.

“Hey..!” Kira greets her back and smiles.

“You are ready for the shift.”

“Yeah…” Charlotte smiles. “Can I ask you a favor?”

“Sure.”

“Um- I don’t know what will happen after the shift, but I do know one thing. Richard will try to find me as well as those other supernaturals currently camped outside our pack. When that day comes, we’ll have no choice but to fight him. It’d be great if you could train the people of my pack too.”

Kira nods. “Don’t worry. I’ll train them.”

“Thank you so much, Kira.” Charlotte beams.

Kira nods but inside her chest, there is something beating wildly at the thought of being there with the man who made her feel some things she never imagined she could feel again.

Later that day, as the sun sets and and the sky gets darker, Katya feels a chill run down her spine as she flips through the grimoires. She has been working on finding the spell to lift the protection magic from Caleb.

Her cell phone rings at the exact same time.

“Hello?” She nervously answers.

“Katya…” It’s Theo on the other side.

“You should come to the packhouse...”

She waits in silence for his next words.

“Our cameras have captured a woman entering the Coral woods…”

Katya releases a shaky breath and nods to herself.

“I am coming.”

She quickly puts the books aside and rushes to the packhouse.

“Come.” Theo says when he notices her.

He motions to the monitor.

“Look…this was a few minutes ago.” Theo says and plays the camera recording.

Katya watches the screen as a woman in her 20s enters the Coral woods.

Katya chews on her bottom lip. “She doesn’t look like Alana but it’s possible that she is using magic to cover her identity.”

“Yes...” Theo says and folds his arms.

Katya turns to Theo. “Let’s wait till the morning. If she is meant to be here, then she’d cross the forest magic and if she is not, the forest will never allow her to reach the pack.”

Theo nods.

“Did you find the spell?” He asks her.

“No.” Katya sighs. “Not yet…but if…if Alana reaches here, maybe we can take her help to undo the magic?”

“Why would she help us?” Theo frowns.

Katya smirks. “Because she needs protection from Richard and we are the only ones who can provide her that!”
