Chapter 87: Chapter 87
The look on her face softened as she looked at me with curious eyes, and I saw pity in them. It made my insides twist and knot up with discomfort.
"I'll try to behave better. But I can't promise that I won't do what I want."
"Well, you'd better because your actions aren't helping anyone." Luna Kasey stated.
"No, they're not." I agreed with her.
She smiled sadly then, like she had been holding back something happy for a long time. She started to speak again but stopped when her stomach growled loudly. The sound made me laugh even though it was kind of sad.
"You hungry?" I asked.
Luna Ashley nodded enthusiastically, her mouth opening wide in a smile. Then she grabbed my arm and Luna Kasey's arm to pull toward the kitchen. I followed her.
As soon as we got into the kitchen, she opened the refrigerator door. She looked inside and began pulling out various items. I watched her with amusement.
"What are you doing? What's going on here?" I asked her.
She didn't answer right away. Instead, she just kept making food while looking at me expectantly. When I still didn't say anything after a few minutes, she sighed and turned around to face me.
"I'm preparing food for us, Luna Fay." Luna Ashley said bluntly.
Luna Kasey's eyebrows went up as she asked, "For the three of us?"
"Yes," she replied.
I studied her expression for a moment. My heart was racing so fast that it felt like it might explode. There was no way that this was real. It couldn't be. I knew that I hadn't gone crazy. But there was no other explanation for what she was saying.
It was impossible. But somehow, I'd seen it before. And now, it was happening again.
"Okay, but why?" I asked.
She shrugged, turning back to the refrigerator, "I don't know. Probably to make up for being bad to all of you, especially Luna Kasey even though you two took us in while our pack is in pieces."
"Whoa! You're not kidding about any of that stuff, are you?" I asked her.
"No, I'm serious, I want to be better and be more cooperative." She answered, her tone matter-of-fact.
"But how did you get so good at cooking? We've never seen you do it before!" Luna Kasey exclaimed.
"I got really hungry after I got here. So I ate a lot of different things from the grocery store. Then I cooked a bunch of meals and packed them in the fridge. And now that we've come to an understanding, I thought maybe if we were all fed well, we could be friends." She explained, looking a bit lost and unlike how she normally was. It must have been because she thought that she was going to lose Alpha Wyatt.
"Wow... okay..." I said softly, feeling overwhelmed by everything that I was witnessing.
"That makes sense. If that's your intention, then I have no reason to stop you." Luna Kasey told her.
"Thank you!" She replied happily.
Then she turned back to the stove to continue making dinner.
"So, where did you learn to cook?" I asked.
She gave me another of those mysterious looks that she usually reserved for Luna Kasey. "I learned from watching my mom. She used to cook all the time when I was little."
"Oh yeah? How does she do it?" I asked, genuinely interested.
"She's amazing. She can make anything taste delicious with just a few simple ingredients. She doesn't use recipes either, she just knows how to combine things to create perfect dishes without having to measure." She informed me excitedly.
"Wow, I wish I could cook like that." I told her honestly.
"Yeah, me too. My dad's the one who cooks in our house. He's pretty good at it too. But he doesn't make anything fancy or creative. He just sticks to what he knows works." Luna Kasey said this time.
"How about your mom? Is she any good?" Luna Ashley asked her, looking curious as she warmed up the food, and I looked at Luna Kasey too in curiosity.
"Not really. She's just good enough to keep us alive and healthy, which is fine by me. It isn't worth arguing over. She's not very fun to talk with anyways." Luna Kasey replied.
Luna Ashley nodded in understanding, but I didn't know why she would agree with her like that. Maybe she was already changing just from us talking with her. I guessed that there was no need for Alpha Wyatt or the other four Alphas getting involved.
"Do you mind if I ask questions?" I asked her.
"Go ahead, I don't bite." She answered.
"Where are you from originally?" I asked her.
"California." She said.
"And your parents?" I asked.
"My father died when I was young and my mom remarried, but then my step father left shortly thereafter. I have a sister that lives with him in California." She said quietly.
"Do you ever visit her?" Luna Kasey asked her.
"No, I don't really see her anymore. But I love my sister dearly, so I hope she's happy." She said, looking down and rubbing her cheek with her palm.
"Hey, my one. I'm here to pick you up." Alpha Clause said as he walked into the kitchen, taking our attention away from each other and to him.
"Hi, honey." I greeted him back as I stepped towards him and pecked him on the cheek.
He wrapped his arm around me as he looked over at Luna Ashley cooking before looking back at me, "I am guessing that your talk with Luna Ashley went well?"
"Yeah, totally, it was awesome. She's super cool!" I exclaimed, smiling brightly.
"Good, that is a relief. I'm glad that she has accepted the fact that she is a Luna and needs to start acting like one. I hope that we can move forward with this and not have to worry about her anymore." He said, rubbing my back gently as he leaned down to kiss my head.
