Chapter 24: Chapter 24
Daisy's POV
"For better; for worse, for richer; for poorer, in sickness and in health, I will love you, till death do us part".
We were in the church and I listened with mixed feelings as I watch my mum take her wedding vows with Celine's dad, our things are already being moved to our new house, Jeremy had bought a new house prior to the wedding, and we'll all be moving there just after the wedding,
I wondered what life has in store for me, having to share a home with Celine is not going to be easy, I glanced towards her at where she was seated at the other seat roll by my right, she was glaring at me accusingly as if I was the mastermind to this union, I almost rolled my eyes, if I had my way, this marriage wouldn't be happening in the first place anyways,
"I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride," the priest said and I turned my gaze towards the couple, my mum was beaming as her husband lifted her veil and kisses her, I suddenly wish for somewhere to go, I wish I can just leave already but we were supposed to be moving into our new home today, so, right now, I do not have a place, I just sat there and wished for the ceremony to be over.
"Girls, this is your new home, isn't it beautiful?" Jeremy announced as soon as we got home, the house was big, that was the first thing I noticed but I was not yet in the mood to assess the house, so, I simply asked, which was my room? I noticed how he exchanged glances with my mother and looked a tad uncomfortable, heck, I rolled my eyes in my head, I am not ready to play one big happy family with them, I just want to know where they had kept my things so that I can just rest, my mum sighed,
"Daisy..." She started but I cut her short before she could go further,
"I just want to rest mum, I'm tired"
"Well, yes, you will" Jeremy cuts in, "your room is upstairs, first door on the left while Celine's room is just opposite your room, first door on the right"
"No way!!!" Celine cuts in, it's surprising that she has been quiet all this while, "I don't have to be seeing her face every second, I won't stay in the room just opposite of hers,"
"But you chose that room sweetheart, remember? When we both came to see the house "
Oh well, so, she was even given the opportunity to choose a room, good for her, I thought as I watched her angry face,
"That was before I knew that you were going to give the other room to this...this..." She struggled for a word to call me but was quickly cut short by her father,
"Celine, not another word from you, and the both of you cannot change your rooms as long as you're still fighting, you will have to learn to live as sisters"
"Never!!!" Celine spat and stomped off to her room, ignoring her father's "come back here"
I wonder how long we're going to live like cat and dog, I'll never step my foot back here once I go to college, without another word, I walked to my room.

My room was wide and spacious, unlike the one we have been living in, but it still didn't make me feel at home, my things were already in my room, I'll need to unpack and place them where I want them to be, I'll live like I do not exist in this house until I finally leave for college, I still think my mum made a mistake by marrying Jeremy.

I went to school the next day and headed straight to my class, "Daisy, wait up" I heard someone shout and turned to see Desiree running towards me, although, I really needed to be alone right now but part of me was glad to see a friendly face, "hey, what's up" she asked, panting as soon as she got close to me,
"how are you coping in your new house?"
"Don't even go there" she raised a brow at my tone,
"It's that bad?" I nodded and she frowned,
"I can imagine what being in the same house with Celine would be like but look at the bright side, you now have a father," she said smiling but she only got a glare from me,
"I already had a dad and I do not want Celine's dad as my dad" I gritted, just then, some group of students walked past us, and one of them bumped into Desiree from behind and she went crashing down, "oh, no! Desiree, are you okay?" I asked just as the student who crashed into her stopped and lend her a hand, "are you okay?" He asked
I frowned, Derrick? This was Aires best friend, why aren't they together today, I scanned around to see if Aires was close by but there was no sign of him,
"I didn't mean to bump into you, here, have this and clean yourself up" Derrick was saying as he handed a handkerchief to Desiree before walking off before I could even summon the courage to ask about Aires, I stared at Desiree, she was holding the handkerchief to her chest, smiling and staring at Derrick's receded form with a dreamy expression, wait, did she like Derrick? I snapped my fingers across her face and she blinked,
"Don't tell me you have a crush on him", she blushed but didn't deny it,
"Oh, my! Desiree, that guy is way out of your league"
"The same way Aires was way out of your league but you still wrote him a letter " she replied with a roll of her eyes
"I did not write the letter to give it to him remember? It was just to express myself in writing but incidentally, he read it, and what happened to me?"
"The fact that you got rejected does not mean that I will be rejected "
I shook my head, wishing she would understand, she's gonna be really hurt if she was rejected, I got to my locker, just as she sat down on hers, "we'll continue our discussion later when we are alone" I whispered to her as I brought out the key to my locker, the class was unusually silent and everyone was staring at me, " uh-huh, this usually spells trouble, perhaps, they were against me because my mum got married to the father of the famous child actress, well, I don't care about them, I thought as I opened my locker and got a shocker, it was as if I opened a dustbin, my locker was filled with debris and dirt, I noticed that my key had been tampered with, I gasped as dirt poured out on my feet, staining my socks,
"Are you selling dirt?" Celine snickered and there was laughter in the class, of cause, it has to be her and no one else, she slowly walked in front of me, flanked by her bimbos of friends
"You did this, didn't you?" I asked and she just smiled,
"Does that upset you sister?" She clenched out the word "sister" like something very repulsive,
"What if I did? That should remind you that you are always filth, you should not forget that even if you are living in my father's mansion, you are always from the slum, never forget your place, slum girl "
I watched her sashay away and took two deep breaths to calm myself, with the help of Desiree, I started cleaning up my locker.

Soon, the bell rang for closing and I quickly walked to the library to avoid another encounter with Celine, I do not know if I am to be happy about my punishment to clean the library or not, at least, it will give me time alone and away from home for a while, the library mistress left as soon as I arrived, she left the key on the lock for me and I decided to leave it there until I finished cleaning so as not to misplace it, carrying a seat, I opened the door wide and held it with the seat, so that I won't be locked in, then, I brought out my ipod, after connecting the earpiece, I set out to work, I was almost finishing when my battery went off, heck, I have to clean the remaining part without music, I had to admit that playing with music made it faster, I was about going to the last roll when I noticed that the door was shut, dropping my cleaning rag, I walked towards the door with trepidation, how is it possible that the door is closed? I mean, I even wedged it against a chair, breeze, and possibly shift the chair and lock the door, can it? I tried the door handle and my heart fell when it seems that I have been locked in.

"Where's Daisy?" Lorna asked as soon as Celine stomped in,
"How should I know? Am I your daughter's keeper?" Celine replied and immediately got a reprimand from her father,
"Celine, show some respect," Jeremy told his daughter, he and his wife were on leave from work to celebrate their wedding but instead of enjoying time with his wife, his house seems to be more like a battleground between the two girls"
Celine shrugged at her father's reprimand, "I don't know dad, probably frolicking with some boys "
"Daisy wouldn't do that?" Lorna quickly intersected
"Oh yeah? If you know your daughter so well, then you should know she's good at chasing boys, even wrote letters to some of them, the whole school knows about that" Lorna's mouth was agape as she watched Celine stomp off to her room.
