Chapter 371: Chapter 371

Suzie took in a deep breath,

’This is too much information! Aliya is alive? How is that possible? What is going to happen now? Should I tell Madam Geneva? Ah! I forgot to ask if it was a confirmed fact!’

She lightly slapped her forehead, ’Silly girl!’ she reprimanded herself,

With Shelby and Ian long gone, it rested on her to take care of everything left behind and Suzie was actually looking forward to putting people in their place.

Of all people, Suzie knew how much this new development would impact her mistress. She was one of the main people always telling Shelby that dead people told no tales and could not affect the lives of the living!

’What do we do? How could this happen?’

She shook her head lightly, too engrossed in these thoughts, but, unlike Ava, Suzie was very much aware of her surroundings. Maybe it was because of her training or the fact that Shelby had left the ’clean up’ of the place in her hands.

Suzie rolled her eyes at the theatrics going on between the father and daughter and then pressed a small cuff on the sleeve of her chic dress. She whispered a few things and then turned back to the situation unfolding.

Suzie stood still, her expression unreadable as if she was in the calm centre of a raging storm. She was rather enjoying the ’theatrical performance’ in the form of watching the father and daughter make a fool out of themselves in the garden.

Her sharp eyes swept the scene with an almost amused detachment unlike her usual bubbly self, which had virtually been missing since she had taken over the duties of the head maid of the estate —until a glint of steel sliced through her peripheral vision. Her mind did a quick summary of what that might be in mere nanoseconds - a pocket knife clutched tightly in the crazy girl’s trembling hand.

Suzie moved without thinking! This was part of the daily training that Murray had been going through with her. Without hesitation, she sprang into action, her movements fluid and startlingly swift. In one clean motion, her hand struck, sending the small knife flying out of Terry’s grasp.

The blade clattered against the small stones, harmless at last. This made Terry stumble backwards, landing unceremoniously on the grass.... Again! This was her second time that night. For Terry, this was more than she had ever experienced in her life! She had been spoiled beyond measure, yet she had never felt so belittled and humiliated before! Murray nodded at Suzie but then narrowed his eyes at Ava, who had then snapped out of her stupor.

Suzie glanced down at her hand as though it had acted of its own accord. Then, a delighted grin spread across her face. She turned first to Murray and then to Ava,

"Wow! Did you see that? I didn’t even know I could do that!" she chirped, clapping her hands together like a child who’d just performed a party trick. This was the original Suzie! The only thing missing on her was her signature pigtails, which had been ditched for the sake of the evening’s events, but that did not stop Suzie from reaching out to touch them on her shoulders, only to drop her hands disappointedly.

’Next time, I will listen to Miss Selby and be myself!’

Her thoughts were this way because Shelby had tried to encourage her to wear her hair the way she wanted, but Suzie had been firm that, she had to be more professional for the formal event.

Suzie turned to Ava, who was gaping between the knife on the ground and the bewildered Terry.

"Oh, don’t worry about her, Ava" Suzie added with a cheery wave toward the furious Terry, who was now scrambling to her feet, her face red with anger. Terry looked around frantically for her minion, but at a point in time, the girl had snuck off, and this added to Terry’s anger. To further add insult to flame, Terry heard the annoying maid say,

"She’ll be fine, Ava. But really, that move? Right out of an action movie!" Suzie mimed the strike again, complete with sound effects, giggling at her own theatrics, which made Ava smile.

One couldn’t help but smile at Suzie. She had a way of lightening up any situation.

Terry’s eyes narrowed into slits after getting up, her humiliation and fury bubbling over. "You think this is funny?!" she spat, her voice trembling with rage.

Suzie tilted her head, beaming innocently. "Well, a little," she admitted with a shrug, pinching her index and thumb fingers together for measure. "But only because I didn’t expect to be this cool today. You really brought out the best in me! Thanks for that, Miss Crazy!" Suzie’s cheerful demeanour was a dagger of its own, and it hit its mark.

This time, Ava felt that she did not have to do anything, even though behind her smile at Suzie’s gimmicks was fizzling anger and the fact of what Terry had tried to do.

Terry’s glare deepened, but Suzie simply flashed another bright smile and turned to examine the knife on the ground.

"Ooh, fancy little thing," she quipped. "Let’s keep this safe before someone gets hurt, hmm?" Suzie picked it up with two fingers, twirling it expertly before pocketing it.

Her bubbly, almost irreverent demeanour only made the contrast sharper—how could someone so bright and carefree have just disarmed an ’assailant’ with such precision? No matter how much of an amateur that person was? It was maddening, infuriating, and, for those watching, impossible not to admire.

Murray was totally satisfied.

’With such a façade, Suzie could become the best protector anyone could have. She could strike when one least expected!’

The Principal let out a sigh of relief when Terry was disarmed. He knew that his daughter was spontaneous, but they could not afford another one of Ian’s wrath, had Terry succeeded in whatever she wanted to do. However, he knew that he had to get Terry out of there because she was known to be stubborn, and one foiled attack did not mean that she would not try another one!

The two moved simultaneously, their reactions as different as night and day: the Principal surged forward with urgency, his face etched with deep lines of worry, his steps quick but unsteady. It had already been an exhausting and draining night for him, all because of this daughter of his. Fear clung to him like a shadow, his hands half-raised, reaching for Terry and bracing for the worst.

In contrast, Ava strode toward Terry with purposeful, intense steps, each one tinged with seething rage. Her narrow eyes glowed with anger, and her raised fists quivered slightly at her sides.

A concerned father and an enraged victim, their intentions aligned in purpose but worlds apart in emotion. Together, they closed in on Terry, each carrying the weight of their own response to her madness.

Before any of these two could take even three steps, hurried footsteps sounded, and four strong-looking men in black appeared.

They shouted in unison and bowed. Even Ava was surprised, halting mid-step.

She turned to Suzie, only to see a prim and stern-looking Suzie. Gone was the bubbly one from a moment ago.

"Leave her to us, Ava. Master Rocky might need your help."

At the mention of Rocky, Ava stilled, and the anger drained off her.

’How could I forget that he was drugged?’

In all this, Murray never intervened. He stood still with the unconscious and feverish Rocky leaning against him. He planned only to intervene if Suzie could not handle the situation, but from the looks of things, she had done beautifully. Ava was another story.

Ava stopped paying head to crazy Terry and rushed towards Murray and Rocky.

On Suzie’s side, she nodded at the men and said,

"Get those out of here!"

They shouted and sprung into action, two grabbing a hold of father and daughter each.

"There was a third person. Check the CCTVs and find her. These people are forever banned from the estate!"

"and oh.... Add that one from the inside, whom I helped to change her attire. Escort that one inside the hall out and drag the three out!"

One of the guards skewed his head as if in confusion, but the one who seemed like their leader smiled.

"I understand, Miss!"

Suzie looked at their retreating backs at the helpless man. The Principal looked drained, while Terry was shouting at the top of her lungs. What Terry was unaware of was that the garden was so big that the probability of anyone inside hearing her was almost zero!

’I am glad that I came back on time!’ Suzie thought, thinking back to the other ’girl’ that Samantha had embarrassed earlier.

Turning back, Suzie noticed that she was all alone in the garden.

A few moments later....

Ava whispered as she stood back to allow Murray to lay Rocky on her bed. They were in her room that had been allocated to her in the south wing, the room that had previously been occupied by the kids.

She ran into the bathroom and filled a cold basin with water,

"Will he be, okay? Maybe I should send him to the hospital?"

Ava’s voice started getting frantic, and Murray sighed.

"You could have been hurt this evening. Your training intensity will increase for the next few weeks!"

"Huh! Is this time to be talking about this, Murray?"

"We can always use the alternative and erase y-"

"I’m sorry! I was wrong! I will do the training!" Ava quickly said and Murray nodded.

"He’s okay. I gave him something that will expel the drugs from his system..."

"Really? OMG Thank you!" Ava bowed deeply to show her gratitude, but Murray had already disappeared from the room when she straightened.

She sighed and then turned to see Rocky staring straight at her,

"D-id he just disap-pear?"

Thank you so much to all for your votes and comments! I hope we can keep it up ^_^
