Chapter 159: Chapter 159
Within the next couple of days, no one in the estate got a glimpse of Shelby. Ian kept her behind closed doors and refused visits from anyone, including Rocky, Gabriel and Ingrid, and even his parents! During this time, Shelby never heard from her mother! Not even once!
One would understand that they were out of their minds with worry, thinking of almost all scenarios of what may have happened or what could possibly have gone wrong with Shelby, but Ian, being himself, was adamant and did not listen to anyone. It was not like no one had the courage to stand up to him.
Gabriel was miserable! He would sit on the floor of the corridor in front of Ian’s room, looking all gloomy each evening. He did love his newfound venture of schooling, which was why he would be missing from what had become his ’station’ during the day. The few workers around couldn’t help but pity him.
’It’s just like when his father locked himself in that same room.’ They thought.
Their observations were correct. This was because Gabriel had almost returned to his gloomy self when Ian had been behind that very same door not too long before.
The only difference was that this time, he was not alone. Sometimes, Ingrid would sit quietly by him until he dozed off.
One could hear the childish chatter whenever they passed by. As Gabriel did back then, he tried to talk to Shelby through the door by talking to himself. To Gabriel, he thought that his Mama Shelby had left him and locked herself up just like his father had done. On the second evening, after not seeing Shelby, Gabriel asked his sister.
Ingrid turned to him silently, waiting patiently for him to ask his question.
"Does Mama Shelby not like me anymore?"
Ingrid sighed and brushed Gabriel’s hair slightly in an awkward gesture of comforting him. This was because, even though Ingrid had always been a girl of few words, she had no way of explaining to her younger brother what was going on as she did not understand it herself.
"What are you two doing here again?!"
Suzie rounded the last corner and chided them. She placed her arms on her waist and tapped her feet.
"Did I not tell you not to disturb the mistress? Your father would be very unhappy to see you here again!"
Ingrid went up and reached out her hand for Gabriel.
"Let’s g-o Ga-briel..." She said in a whisper but one could see the reluctance on her person.
When Gabriel made no move to get up, Ingrid added,
"D-idn’t y-ou tell m-e that Mama Shelby p-romised to tell you if s-he was going far away?"
Gabriel turned his little head up to Ingrid, and for the first time in two days, his wide, childish smile was back!
"What are you people doing? I am going to be late!" Brianna snapped. She was in her room at her parent’s home and was getting frantic with each passing second.
After her talk with Shelby a few days prior, she had done her best to get prepared for this coming day and in her mind, nothing was going to disrupt it!
It was already the day she had agreed with Shelby to visit the Thornston Estate and she was beyond happy! Brianna felt like she could jump over the moon, even in the daytime. This was how optimistic and happy she was!
She, who had always been a late riser, was up by ten am that day. That was unheard of and had nearly thrown the house into chaos. The maids serving her had to work double time to get and cater to all her needs.
"Miss is really up early today. It’s not even 12 pm yet, and she is up."
"You and I know how much she had been looking forward to this. You better not mess anything up to mess up her mood or else you find yourself on the short end of the stick!"
"WHERE IS MY FUZZY DRINK!" Came the shout that interrupted the two. The one with the said tray ran like her life depended on it, expertly balancing that tray and making it on time before Brianna called a second time, which was never a good sign.
"I’m sorry, Miss. Here it is, just as you like it with crushed ice."
The maid walked up and handed the cold glass to Brianna, who was still in her foamy bath soaking.
"Do you expect me to hold that?!"
"I’m sorry, Miss, please forgive me!"
Brianna rolled her eyes and watched the maid go on her knees by the bathtub and hold up the straw in the glass to her lips. Brianna took a sip and closed her eyes, savouring the taste!
"Ah! Nothing beats the refreshing taste of the fuzzy dink while in a foamy hot bath!"
She said to herself and opened her mouth for another sip while keeping her eyes closed. The maid quickly moved forward on her knees and brought the straw to her lips again. This was how Brianna was served in her bathtub that morning. She stayed in the bath for almost an hour until the water turned slightly cool, and then she stood up in all her natural glory.
"What are you still doing hunched up over there?" Brianna snapped just as her mother also walked in.
The maid quickly stood up, nearly losing her balance temporarily because of the position she had been in for Brianna’s time in the tub. She briefly massaged her crumped-up legs but did not linger for long at all. She picked up a towel from the rack and then started patting Brianna dry.
Abi only looked at Brianna through the fogged-up mirror and asked,
"Are you sure that you want to do this, Brianna dear?"
"Of course, I want to do this, Mum. Why would you even ask such a silly question?"
Abi sighed as the maid finished tapping Brianna dry and put a huge fluffy bathrobe on her. Brianna turned to her mother and asked,
"How many times would you ask this? I already told you my decision a long time ago. Do you think anything you say would change my mind, Mum? You should know your daughter better than this!"
Abi sighed and stepped aside for Brianna to pass by into her room. Brianna sat in front of a vanity, and a couple of maids surrounded her immediately; one was working on her hair, and the other was on a small stool working on her nails. Abi took a seat on the bed and watched on.
"So, what’s the plan?" Abi asked,
"You’ve still not told me exactly what you would like to do there..."
Brianna laughed. "Hehe hehe.... Mum, what do you mean? I am going to see my future husband, of course!"
Abi sighed, massaging her temples,
"Spare me the talk, Mum. Let’s just say that I am really your daughter, and I also learn from the best. You’ll see!"
Abram walked in just them, crossing his arms over his chest and watching his two lovely women.
"Of course! My daughter knows best!" He echoed.
Abi further shook her head at the two and then silently wished her daughter ’the best of luck!’ This was because her plans had not fallen into place yet, and if Abi knew anything, it was how Geneva Thornston worked.
Brianna beamed at her father.
"Daddy! I missed you!"
"I miss you too my dear!"
She blew an air kiss to him through the mirror, and Abram made a catching gesture in the air and held it to his chest.
Brianna giggled like a child, making even Abram smile in contentment. His baby girl was happy, and that was all that mattered to him.
"You go there and enjoy yourself to the maximum, my dear!" Abram added, and Brianna nodded vigorously, her perfectly groomed hair flying around her and then settling back around her shoulders flawlessly.
As usual, she chose another set of pencil-high heels paired with a loose flare knee-length skirt, a tight crop top giving anyone a generous look at her boobs, and many necklaces interlacing each other, which covered a bit of the chest flesh.
It was considered pretty and decent but not too over the top. However, her body type took her whole look to a new level of sexiness! Her make-up was just right and highlighted her features perfectly.
She twirled around a bit, satisfied with her overall looks and nodded, making the maids sigh in relief. This was her fourth set of attire!
’I hope my baby girl comes out of this unscathed,’ Abi thought to herself as the maids finally completed Brianna’s preparation. This was about four hours after she had woken up.
Brianna kissed her parents’ goodbye and entered her car just as Abi added,
"Remember, dear, keep a smile and bid your time!"
"I know, mum, don’t worry!"
With a wink, she rolled up the window and instructed her driver to move.
It took a bit of a while before her car pulled up to the entrance of the estate. She rolled down her window and looked out at that same security guard.
The guard pressed a button, and the gate swung open.
"Are you not going to stop me today?" Brianna asked, smirking.
Of course, the security guard also remembered her, but he said nothing and then bowed deeper.
"You may go in, Miss, the household is expecting you,"
"Hahahaha... You finally know your place, right?" She spat out in a mocking tone.
