Chapter 115: Chapter 115

Clara was so hysterical that Rocky had to resort to them giving her a sedative for that evening. That even solved his other problem for him.

’I can go meet that man alone this evening and do not have to explain myself to mum.’

Within the coming days, many other smaller drug syndicates related to James were burst. When the news circulated, people still found it hard to believe that the James Wendover that they knew was also a major drug dealer.

No matter how James tried, he was unable to get out of the shackles of the law. There was enough evidence to get a full conviction. His lawyers tried their best, but in T-Vino Island, using drugs was a major crime, so to deal them was a whole different case. The action against James was swift and decisive, just like Ian and how he dealt with people.

The path was different, though. Ian never let a third party like the police deal with his issues for him, never!

It was definitely not how Ian would have ideally dealt with James Wendover, but then, Ian compromised and used the law to deal with James more as a warning. He just hoped that James understood it and did not try something else! Something stupid!

James had never seen that coming at all. If he had, he may probably not gone to the Thornston estate that morning. Or even if he did, he might not have made the official complaint at all.

’That detective is so thoughtless.’

James had tried without success even to bribe him, but none of his efforts had paid off.

Detective Leon, who had busted one of the two syndicate leaders known as Boss, became the hero of the case and of T-Vino Island. He was hailed for aiding in that feat.

James was then incarcerated and sent in for a long time as a lesson to the others in the trade. However, these were all later news.

Rocky ran into the arms of his one favourite person in the whole wide world; well, not exactly, if you counted Ava.

"I miss you so much!"

And he really did! He had been travelling with friends for about two weeks before Shelby had gotten married. That made it more than two months since he had seen her in person.

He hugged her tight, picking her up and swinging her in his arms all around. Shelby’s laughter was heard all around.

Not far from her stood the giant of a man who was her husband. However, he did not look happy.

He gritted his teeth and clenched his hands, looking on at the scene.

"I don’t like the men in her family!" He growled, and Currey laughed out, unable to contain himself. Ian was behaving in a very ridiculous way. How could he even say that?

"Chairman Ian, That’s her brother...." He said helplessly.

"He is a male, and he’s touching her! Get him off of her before-"

Rocky stepped off Shelby and then held Shelby at arm’s length.

"You look good, sis!"

"Of course I do! Why would I not be?" She chuckled.

"Why don’t you believe me when I said that I was okay?" In response, he hugged her once again.

"Ava is in the back. She-"

Rocky froze for just a brief second, within which a lot of things went through his mind. The workers bustled in and out of the place in preparation for the dinner. The underlying enthusiasm was felt in the warm glow of the almost setting sun.

When Rocky had texted Shelby that he had arrived, she had run out even without waiting for him to come inside. Therefore, apart from Ian, a small crowd of workers had also gathered and were looking on.

All of a sudden, Shelby was ripped out of Rocky’s arms. Ian wrapped his arms around her, feeling his heart calm. Yes, he knew that Rocky was Shelby’s only brother, but that still did not let his mind ease up. Even Currey’s voice re-echoing that just made him angrier and more agitative. Before he realized it, his legs had moved on their own, and he had pulled her back.

This time, it was Rocky’s turn to mimic Ian’s reaction.

He swelled up in anger and clenched his arms by his side, willing himself not to make any noise or comments on this. However, at that point in time, he detested Ian.

’So, this is the duchebag that ’bought’ my sister through a contract?’

Shelby was the first to notice the tense atmosphere between them.

She detangled herself from Ian’s arms, to his dissatisfaction, and then hit Rocky. She was not tall enough to hit him as she would have wanted. He had grown tall too fast!

Nonetheless, she was still his elder sister. She hit him hard on the chest!

"Do you think that you are a grown-up now and can disrespect your brother-in-law?"

"Whose brother-in-law?!" he snapped, trying to pull her behind him. He was not phased at all with her feeble attempts at hitting him. He caught her fist in his hands.

"Sis! Why did you do that?"

"Sign that goddam thing!"

Shelby paused and turned to Ian, finally realizing the issue with her brother.

Ian just lifted a small part of mouth, smirking.

"Welcome, brother-in-law."

"I am NOT your fucking brother-in-law!" Rocky growled so loudly that all the movement outside by the workers stopped.

Just temporarily. However, they knew when to mind their own business. They quickly marched on, trying hard not to peek at the giant of a man and the lanky boy who matched his arura perfectly. Shelby was sandwiched between the two of them.

"Rocky! Watch your tone! He is even older than me, so why-"

"That is exactly my point sis! He is very old ... so why? Just why do you allow your self to be treated this way!"

Ian watched on at the passion-filled young man and he took an instant liking to him. He had expected the young man to have come to talk about James Wendover who had been arrested that day. But it was obvious that the only thing that Roxkwell was interested in was his sister, at least at that time.

"I think that we need to talk," Ian said calmly, not perturbed by the hostility coming from Rocky.

"You bet that we should!"

Ian turned around and started walking back into the estate, then he stopped and turned, walking around the front of the large estate and towards the sides. He stretched his hand back, and Shelby ran up to him to take it.

This made Rocky more frustrated by the second.

’What exactly does he have on Shelby? Why is she doing this? We can try to get her out of the contract, but why, sis!’

He quickly followed the two as they disappeared off to the sides of the building before he lost sight of them.

When he finally rounded the corner, he saw the most beautiful garden setup ever, but Rocky was not in the mood to appreciate anything.

He found it weird that Shelby would not even back off of the man.

"What hold does he have on you, sis? Why did you have to sign this trash?"

"Sis! I don’t want to hear it! This has got to stop! Why!" Rocky’s voice was emotion-filled and so distressing to all who heard. He pulled out the rumpled contract and waved it up in front of their faces.

"Where did you get that?!" Shelby asked, trying to think of anything to calm Rocky down. Rocky never broke down like that, and for Shelby, that was the first time she had seen her brother that way. Even though it also made her helpless and distressed, the reasoning behind it made her warm. She felt Ian place his hand on her shoulder and squeezed it lightly. She nodded and let him handle it.

"Do not call me that!"

"I like you, young brother-in-law. I love the way you care about your sister and my wife-"

"Do Not call her that! I detest any man who would force hims-"

"Rocky! It’s really not like that! I mean, it was.... But it’s not..."

Shelby sounded helpless, trying not to make the situation worse than it was.

"Was it that way or not!" He demanded, heaving up and down, totally pissed and not listening to reason at all.

"It’s a little complicated to explain Rocky. But if you’ll let me..."

"No! Let’s leave this place, sis! I can find the best lawyer to get you out of this contract! I know that they are a powerful family, but we can get this done, okay? Please, sis! Let me do this for you... Do not make yourself any miserable than-"

All of Rocky’s analogies had somewhat been true, but it made one wonder which lawyer would take on a case like that. The Thornston family were the most popular and powerful family in all of T-Vino Island.

Heck, even the Island was named after them, so who in their right mind would want to go on such a career suicide mission? However, what was commendable was the fact that he was willing to fight for his sister even in a situation like that. Such people were one in a million.

"Than what?" Ian finally stepped in. Rocky looked angrily at Ian only to see him smiling patiently at him as if he was not there shouting out all the anger. That made him swell up.

’He is not taking me seriously!’
