Chapter 71: Chapter 71
Lucy Eaton never expected that after Jacob Green entered the presidential suite, he would lock the bedroom door from the inside and sleep leaning against it all night.
For some reason, seeing this scene, Lucy suddenly felt like laughing.
The knots in her mood vanished without a trace.
As for the girl who was persistently knocking on the door outside, no matter how hard she called, Jacob never opened the door for her. Google seaʀᴄh noⅴelfire.net
So she sat on the sofa all night.
"Who is she? Why are your subordinates so relaxed around her?"
"They mistook her for you, thought she was my girlfriend. This girl is Frederick Palmer’s sister, Flora Palmer."
"Flora..." Lucy murmured her name, "Never heard of her."
Indeed, whether in the past life or this one, this was the first time she heard this name.
The daughters of wealthy families rarely make headlines; unless there’s major news, they don’t usually appear in the news.
"I’m quite familiar with Frederick. He’s a very good partner and friend. We were discussing a project, so I didn’t expect his sister would take the initiative to show interest in me. After what happened this morning, I made it clear to Frederick that I’m married and asked him to relay this to his sister."
"If I hadn’t seen the news, were you planning to never tell me?"
"I was considering it. Since it’s not true, why bring it up and make you unhappy?" Jacob smirked, "But I wasn’t sure, so I came prepared."
"My husband is so outstanding, always on someone’s mind. What should I do?" Lucy took the USB and handed it to him.
He accepted it with a smile, "So are you feeling some pressure?"
"A bit, but considering I’m also quite talented, I instantly feel balanced." She glanced at the time, "Dr. Frey will be back soon. You should hurry back."
"You’re just letting me go like that?"
"You made me angry all morning, and now you want a kiss? No way."
"Since you refuse to kiss me, I’ll kiss you instead." He said and placed his hand on her nape, leaning his face closer to her, quickly achieving his goal.
She thought just a few seconds would be enough, but once he started kissing, he wouldn’t let go.
Lucy worried about being seen and kept pushing him, "Hurry back, I’ll let you kiss as much as you want tonight."
This worked perfectly. He immediately released her, "Mrs. Green, I’ll see you in a few hours."
Seeing his meaningful gaze, Lucy quickly lowered her head.
His visit made her restless all afternoon, as long as she wasn’t in the operating room.
His face kept appearing in her mind.
She felt a bit impatient to leave work early and go home.
She couldn’t quite understand why she was so excited.
As soon as it was time to leave work, she took off her white coat, hung it on the rack, grabbed her bag, and left, not lingering a second in the office.
Just as she got into the car, Nathaniel Green handed her the driver’s license, "Young Madam, it was just processed this afternoon."
"Much faster than I imagined."
Nathaniel fastened his seatbelt while saying, "Rest assured, I manage things efficiently."
The car safely drove home, and just as she changed her shoes and prepared to go upstairs, a servant mentioned, "Young Madam, the young master is in the kitchen."
"Hm?" She immediately went to check, only to see him wearing an apron and cooking.
Even without turning around, it was like he had eyes on his back, "You’re back?"
She stepped forward and took a look, realizing he was making dumplings with her favorite filling.
The dumplings were small, one-bite-sized, looking very nice, and his hands moved quickly, almost making one every few seconds.
She already knew he could make dumplings.
Because he had made them at home before, packed them in a lunch box and sent them to Stellan Quinn.
Now it seemed, they were made for her.
"From now on, any project gathering, I’ll bring you with me."
His eyes were like stars, "I’m serious. Being with you is serious, not a game. I’ll prioritize your feelings from now on."
Lucy’s heart twitched slightly as she walked behind him, wrapped her arms around his waist, and said nothing.
After about two minutes of silence, seeing him start cooking, Lucy let go and said, "I ran into the Ainsworth Family at the hospital yesterday."
Only then did Jacob hear her mention it, "How did that happen?"
"My grandmother came to the neurosurgery department for treatment. She had a benign tumor removed today. I don’t know whether it’s because of her age or because she knows I’m a doctor now, but her attitude towards me has improved greatly, which really feels strange to me. How every member of that family treated me, I’ll never forget, as it’s etched into my bones and blood, but given the fact they raised me for eighteen years, I won’t take things to extremes."
"I suppose you also saw your father?"
"I did, but we didn’t exchange a single word. I have absolutely no feelings for him; he’s like a stranger. People say blood is thicker than water, but I don’t have any such ties with him. Even if he died in front of me, I wouldn’t feel any emotional fluctuation, because to me, he’s truly irrelevant."
"He never fulfilled any of the responsibilities of a father to you, so he deserves your indifference." Jacob started to take out the dumplings, "If I ever have a daughter, I’ll treat her as a treasure, never letting her suffer any grievance."
Lucy thought about the child she once had. When she knew of the child’s existence, she was both surprised and delighted. She never considered aborting it. After a bout of internal struggle, not wanting the child to be born without a father, she went looking for him.
She was melancholic for a long time after the child was lost.
Constantly blaming herself for not keeping the child.
Only when facing death did she learn the loss of the child was due to human error.
"What are you thinking about, so absorbed?"
Lucy snapped back to reality, "Nothing, just get some chili sauce and vinegar. I want to dip them when eating."
After saying this, she took a plate of dumplings out first, followed shortly by Jacob.
Just as they were about to eat, Oliver Green came in, holding a red rectangular silk box.
"Young Master, Young Madam, the bracelet made from that jade stone is ready."
Lucy eagerly accepted it and opened it, her eyes glimmering with delight, "It’s so beautiful."
White jade beads strung together, preserving the six characters engraved on the original jade stone, each character on six small red gemstones.
Because the beads were polished particularly small, the whole bracelet could wrap around her wrist twice.
"The design was according to my instructions; do you like it?"
Lucy nodded, "I really do. These six small red gemstones must cost a fortune?"
Oliver replied, "These red gemstones were specially taken out of the young master’s collection. They’re not the kind that can be bought on the market; they’re non-sale items. Last year, the Green Group opened a new subsidiary in Country F, boosting local economic development. The young master met with Country F’s Prime Minister and received them as gifts."
