Chapter 67: Chapter 67
After finishing reading the materials one by one, she burned them in the trash can, then went to the hospital rooftop with her phone and called James Foster.

"I know, she just came to the store for a job interview. I didn’t agree and asked her to go home to recover."
Upon hearing this, Lucy Eaton gasped, "Did she know you worked there or was it just a coincidence?"
"She indeed didn’t lie to you. I had Ah Feng investigate her details," continued Lucy Eaton. "Her father indeed has late-stage stomach cancer, she’s an only child, her mother drowned saving a child when she was six, and her father hasn’t remarried. To treat him, she dropped out of college and has been working various jobs. They rent a flat in a bustling area, she’s an unfortunate child."
On the other end, James Foster was silent for a few seconds, "Worse than I imagined, actually she didn’t con me out of much money, but the act itself was uncomfortable."
"While investigating Mary Pond, I also had Ah Feng look into Chloe White."
"Is there a problem with her?"
"Her reputation at school isn’t good. Two of her dormmates said she often stays out all night. During her time there, she dated several boyfriends. They say she’s very vain, loves associating with wealthy people, and chases luxury brands," Lucy Eaton paused. "The past isn’t important, I just want you to be aware, stay vigilant, don’t let someone sell you and help count the money."
"With you around, who dares to sell me? Got tired of living?"
"I’m serious, James, don’t take it lightly."
"I always take your words to heart. I’ll interact with her for a while to see."
"Alright, as for Mary Pond, tell her to rest first, and when her health improves, she can come to work. Say she’ll receive wages during her recovery, consider it an advance."
James Foster was surprised, "Why are you being so nice to her?"
"She’s not actually bad, and we need to recruit people anyway."
"Alright, I’ll do as you say."
Lucy Eaton returned to the office with her phone, only to find traces that her lunch box had been opened because the lid wasn’t sealed tight.
"Why are you looking at my lunch box?" She immediately turned to Sarah Reed.
She candidly admitted, "Just seeing what’s in your lunch pie?"
"I hope you won’t do it again."
"Just a look, what’s the big deal?"
"It’s not a big deal, I just don’t want you to look."
Michael Paxton listened quietly to their tit-for-tat, not saying a word.
Then, the office door opened, and John Green walked in wearing a white coat.
Seeing him come in, Sarah Reed immediately smiled, "How come Doctor Green is here?"
"To see Doctor Eaton."
"You know each other?"
John Green smiled slightly, "We do indeed."
He walked to Lucy Eaton’s desk, "Too busy yesterday, didn’t get to say hello."
Lucy Eaton stood up and smiled, "I should’ve come to say hello, got too busy and forgot. Have you eaten?"
"I have; haven’t you?"
"Then carry on. I have surgery in an hour, need to prepare."
Watching him leave, Sarah Reed grew more curious, "Lucy Eaton, how do you know Doctor Green?"
"Do you need to know?" Lucy Eaton sat down to continue eating.
At two o’clock the work hours started, and the three attending physicians began receiving patients.
To Lucy Eaton’s surprise, Michael Paxton’s first patient turned out to be her grandmother.
Her long-unseen father, Oliver Eaton, entered first supporting her grandmother.
Mr. Ainsworth, Second Aunt, and Oliver Eaton’s wife followed behind.
Because Lucy Eaton was wearing a mask and lowering her head, none of them recognized her.
Moreover, her patient entered, standing collectively in front of the desk, blocking the other side’s view, making the Ainsworth Family unable to notice her.
Thus, it’s for the best.
Displeased with each other, not recognizing is fine.
When her patient went out for a scan, Michael Paxton called her.
"Doctor Eaton, come take a look at this CT."
Then, the Ainsworth Family focused their attention on her.
They were unsure but suspicious, continuing to stare.
Lucy Eaton took the film from Michael Paxton, raised her hand to the front.
"Diagnosed with a brain tumor, there is hydrocephalus, it’s benign, although the tumor is small, it’s near nerves, surgery is recommended."
Once she spoke, Second Aunt immediately identified her, "Lucy, it’s you!"
The Ainsworth Family was shocked.
They couldn’t believe Lucy Eaton was actually here.
Grandma shook as she stood up, tears streaming, "Lucy, is it really you? Grandma didn’t mistake you, right?"
Lucy Eaton then removed her mask, "It’s me."
Grandma was excited, having not seen Lucy Eaton for a few years and barely believing the chic and pretty girl in front was her granddaughter.
She grabbed Lucy Eaton’s hand, asking, "Weren’t you working at the funeral home? How are you here?"
"I studied at a medical university, it’s quite normal by now."
"But didn’t you not get your graduation certificate?" Lucy Eaton’s stepmother asked.
"You’re just ignorant, I retook the exam and got my certificate."
Michael Paxton and Sarah Reed never expected these people to be Lucy Eaton’s family.
"Ma’am, you’re not in good condition now, try not to get too excited, avoid complications," Michael Paxton reminded.
Lucy Eaton now saw Grandma as a patient, it was a matter of professionalism, and she didn’t want personal emotions involved.
"Please sit down, let Doctor Paxton examine you properly."
"Alright, alright." Grandma reluctantly let go of Lucy Eaton’s hand but kept holding onto hers.
Her gaze made Lucy Eaton uneasy, for ever since she could remember, Grandma had never looked at her , nor held her hand so warmly.
It was like she’d changed.
Michael Paxton initially planned to operate on Grandma in a week or more, but learning it’s Lucy Eaton’s grandmother, he changed the plan.
"Start the inpatient procedures now, surgery at nine tomorrow morning."
Lucy Eaton naturally saw he had given her face. According to his appointments, tomorrow was fully booked, scheduling an additional surgery can only mean handling another operation.
"But Doctor Paxton, isn’t your schedule full tomorrow?"
"It’s Doctor Eaton’s close family; I’ll add the operation."
