Chapter 144: Chapter 144

Among them, Samuel Green, George Green, Ethan, Theodore Fenn, and Aaron McCarthy are Jacob Green’s people.

The identities of the others are unknown.

On the surface, they all seem to be people from the Presidential Mansion.

Those called out stepped forward, while the others visibly sighed with relief.

These five people of Jacob Green knew of Lucy Eaton’s identity; they had already received orders to assist in protecting Emma Bennett.

"Let’s replace Theodore Fenn, those others are more capable," Nick pointed to the others.

Others might not know, but Lucy Eaton was very clear in her heart; there were no weaklings under Jacob Green. If someone appeared weak, it was only a deliberate act.

"His Highness let me choose, so I’ll pick whoever I want, and you shouldn’t interfere." Lucy Eaton didn’t look at Nick’s expression and said to the others who weren’t selected, "You can go about your business now, there’s nothing more for you here."

The crowd then dispersed, while those chosen remained in place.

Nick was left speechless by Lucy Eaton and turned to Emma Bennett, saying, "Your Highness, I know I’m not very skilled, but I’m best at taking care of you, so let me accompany you."

Emma Bennett replied, "I’m already a blind person for them to keep an eye on. If they also need to protect you, it would be too much trouble. You should stay at the Presidential Mansion; with them by my side, I’ll be fine."

Seeing him say this, Nick found no reason to say more.

The luggage was loaded onto the car, and three cars drove out of the courtyard, heading to the airport.

Lucy Eaton sat next to Emma Bennett and whispered, "These five people—Samuel Green, George Green, Ethan, Theodore Fenn, and Aaron McCarthy—are my people."

"Are they people that the Prime Minister planted in the Presidential Mansion?"

"May I ask who planted them?"

"You may not," Lucy Eaton firmly refused, "You don’t need to know, just be aware that they’ve come this time to protect you."

"Alright, I won’t ask that question anymore." Emma Bennett sat upright, hesitated, and asked, "Does your husband know about you coming this time?"

Lucy Eaton replied, "He was initially opposed because he was worried about my safety, but he knows my temperament and determination well. Seeing my persistence, he eventually agreed."

"It seems he respects your decisions very much."

"I think he has no choice but to let me be," Lucy Eaton laughed, "Once I’ve decided to do something, no one can stop me."

Emma Bennett agreed, "I can see that too."

The two didn’t continue the topic and fell silent.

The car soon arrived at the airport within the Presidential Mansion.

Once on the plane, Lucy Eaton turned off her phone.

Just as the plane took off, Arthur Bennett received a message on his end.

"Your Highness, Second Highness’s plane has taken off."

Sitting at the desk, Arthur Bennett smiled, "I know, you know what to do next."

Arthur Bennett’s confidant left, and Stellan Quinn, standing by the door with a tray of tea, walked in slowly, "Your Highness, what brings such joy?"

Arthur Bennett raised his eyes to her, "There is something to be happy about."

Stellan Quinn placed the tea in front of him and tactfully didn’t press further on what was making him happy. She smiled graciously, "Seeing Your Highness happy makes me happy too."

Arthur Bennett took her by the waist and pulled her onto his lap, "Why do I feel you’re not that happy?"

Stellan Quinn bit her lip, "I’m not unhappy, just a bit worried."

"Worried about what?"

"Afraid that the Great Princess Consort will find out."

Arthur Bennett lowered his eyes, "As long as you behave, she won’t know."

Stellan Quinn was startled. Why did that sound so off?

Did Flora Palmer find out because she misbehaved?

"Of course, I will behave; with Your Highness treating me this way, Laura seeks nothing else."

Whether Arthur Bennett believed her words or simply didn’t take them in, he chuckled, "In the future, don’t give away any signs in front of the Great Princess Consort. Avoid her if you can, remember that?"

"I will, rest assured, Your Highness."

A message came from outside the door, "Your Highness, the Great Princess Consort has arrived."

Hearing this, Stellan Quinn hurriedly stood up from his lap and quickly adjusted her expression. Just as she stood properly, Flora Palmer entered.

Seeing her there, Flora Palmer showed no sign of surprise, smiling as she approached Arthur Bennett, "I just came back from my mother’s."

"What did you talk about?"

Flora Palmer stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his waist, "She advised me not to avoid pregnancy and hopes I get pregnant soon."

Arthur Bennett laughed dryly, "Really? I have the same intention."

Hearing this, Stellan Quinn felt even more uncomfortable inside and quickly left the room. Follow current ɴᴏᴠᴇʟs on 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵✦𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮✦𝓷𝓮𝓽

Flora Palmer glanced at the door, looked up at her husband, "So you have plans for a child too?"

"Of course, we’ll have to have one sooner or later." He stroked Flora Palmer’s hair, "I’m also eager to see what our baby will look like."

Flora Palmer felt a pang of sourness, knowing his true nature. She would have genuinely believed her husband was as affectionate as he appeared.

Her heart built a barrier against him, unbeknownst to him.

Did he truly think she was so easily deceived?

Did he really believe she was a fool to be maneuvered at will?

Seeing her silent, Arthur Bennett asked, "I heard an amusing rumor today."

"I heard that before you married me, you really liked Jacob Green. Is that true?"

Flora Palmer did not deny it, "I liked him before, but I gave it up later."

"Because he got married?"

"Basically, yes. After seeing him and his wife, I felt even more that my decision to give up was correct."

Arthur Bennett asked again, "Why?"

"Because Jacob Green and his wife genuinely have a good relationship, and she’s an excellent woman. I sincerely wish them well."

"No wonder you opposed the marriage alliance with Sophie," Arthur Bennett lightly embraced her, "What does Jacob Green’s wife do?"

"Why are you so interested in his wife?" Flora Palmer punched his chest playfully, "Why ask so many questions."

"I’m just asking casually."

Flora Palmer naturally brushed off his questions, "Enough about me; how about you? How many girlfriends have you had before?"

"Married to a foreigner because my parents disapproved."

"You’ve had a girlfriend, while I’ve only liked one person and haven’t even dated."

"Feeling unbalanced?" Arthur Bennett inquired, "Well, there’s nothing to be done about that. You’ve married me now, so there’s no chance of dating other men."

Flora Palmer’s mouth curled into a mocking smile, which quickly turned into a question, "Have I interrupted your work?"

"No, I’m not busy this morning, so I can spend time with you," he then held her hand, "Shall we go?"

"No rush there..." Flora Palmer stopped him, feigning shyness, "It’s broad daylight, a bit embarrassing. Just talking with you is enough."
