Chapter 133: Chapter 133
"Tell the Prime Minister not to come, we’re heading back now."
"Yes." The people from the Prime Minister’s Mansion saw Lucy Eaton was injured and had her eyes closed. "Miss seems to have fainted, let me carry her back to the mansion."
"No need." Emma Bennett refused.
Nick really had no idea what his Highness was thinking.
But he couldn’t say much.
They descended the mountain, got in the car, Nick sat in the passenger seat, and Emma Bennett sat in the back with Lucy Eaton, who was sitting to his right, her head resting on his shoulder, completely unconscious.
Emma Bennett sat quietly for a few minutes, his left hand raised then lowered, finally raising it again and placing it on her face.
His fingers roamed downward from her forehead.
Her forehead was full, her eyes were closed so he couldn’t sense much.
But her nose was nothing like the servants said—no bridge at all—on the contrary, he felt her nose was small yet distinct, the bridge wasn’t low and there was even a small mole on her nose.
Her lips were small, but the corners weren’t downturned at all.
Realizing those fools had lied to him, Emma Bennett was somewhat furious inside; bold enough to deceive him.
Was it to make him dislike her?
Obviously Nick’s idea.
Emma Bennett knew well, planning to deal with Nick once back at the Presidential Mansion.
The car drove to the Prime Minister’s Mansion, Jackson Baker and Liora Hughes were heartbroken seeing their injured daughter.
Jackson Baker hurriedly carried his daughter out of the car to have the doctor extract the bullet.
Afterwards, Jackson Baker and Emma Bennett went alone to the study to talk.
"Thanks to your daughter’s timely rescue today, I surely wouldn’t have returned alive otherwise."
"It’s her duty; Your Highness must have been frightened. Next time, you should take more people along."
He nodded, "We found a waist tag on the assailant from the Presidential Mansion, a golden waist tag. This matter should avoid implicating your daughter to avoid unnecessary disaster, I’ll say it was an accident by someone else’s rescue, won’t mention Lucy’s name."
"Your Highness is considerate."
As Emma Bennett was about to leave, he suddenly asked, "I heard your daughter is married, what does her husband do?"
Jackson Baker didn’t expect him to ask this, and didn’t specifically clarify, just said, "She married before reuniting with us, her husband is an excellent corporate executive."
The term "executive" involves various positions.
Jackson Baker affirmed, "He’s very fond of Lucy Eaton, their relationship is great."
"That’s good. I won’t bother you then, please convey my thanks to your daughter when she wakes."
"Certainly, Your Highness, take care."
Upon leaving the Prime Minister’s Mansion, Nick didn’t know what his Highness was thinking, his whole face looked very unpleasant.
When they reached the separate residence, Emma Bennett solemnly said, "I know you dislike Lucy, but you deliberately defaming her appearance and hiding it from me, you truly think I know nothing."
"Your Highness, I haven’t defamed her."
"Don’t speak about everyone having different opinions, weren’t those servants under your orders speaking that way?"
"Your Highness, how could this be under my orders?"
"If you don’t tell the truth today, no need to serve by my side." Emma Bennett intended to kick him out; hearing this, Nick was scared and kneeled down. "Your Highness, I admit, those servants were arranged by me to speak like that deliberately."
Emma Bennett shouted loudly, "Ada! Adi!"
"You two supervise Nick to receive his punishment, thirty lashes, not one less."
Nick’s face instantly turned pale, thirty lashes, that’s going to beat him half to death.
He was actually always aware, Emma Bennett may seem easy-going, but offend his taboos and he won’t spare anyone.
Nick dared not plead, silently went to receive his punishment.
Jacob Green received a phone call from his mother-in-law, learning Lucy Eaton was wounded and unconscious, he rushed from the company to Northriver.
Seeing his lively and lovely wife lying on the bed with no color on her face, the string inside him snapped, feeling heartsick.
"Mom, how did Lucy get shot?"
"It’s a long story, today your dad, Lucy and I went hiking together, your grandfather felt unwell, so your dad and I left first. Unexpectedly, the Second Highness also went to hike and was attacked, Lucy got hurt saving him, without her, the Second Highness surely would’ve lost his life there," Liora Hughes said. "The bullet’s been removed, she just needs good rest for a while. I’ll head out to make some meal for her to eat when she wakes."
Jacob Green nodded, seeing his mother-in-law leave, sat by the bed, gently kissed her needle-free right hand.
Lucy Eaton slowly woke, seeing him first.
She wasn’t surprised he’d appear here, surely notified by her parents.
But she hadn’t forgotten, they were in a cold war.
Seeing her silent, Jacob Green had to speak first, "Does it hurt?"
"Little liar, how could being shot twice not hurt?"
"Mom made food for you, I’ll bring it over."
When Jacob Green returned with the tray, he saw her gazing at the ceiling, lost in thought.
He sat down, lifted her up to lean against the bedhead, and fed her.
"Saving Emma Bennett this time counts as repaying his favor, I forbid you from risking yourself again."
Seeing her silent, Jacob Green reaffirmed, "Do you hear?"
"Didn’t hear." She intentionally teased him.
"If you didn’t hear, I’ll feed you mouth to mouth. I’ll ask again, did you hear?"
Lucy Eaton knew he meant it, replied, "Yes, I heard."
"After eating, return to Ningham with me." Tʜe source of this ᴄontent ɪs novel⟡fire.net
"No, I’m healing well at my parents’, don’t bother yourself."
Speaking distantly , Jacob Green felt uncomfortable, "Am I an outsider?"
Lucy Eaton didn’t speak, clearly showing she wouldn’t go back.
But the arm can’t twist the thigh; Jacob Green slipped some sedative into her meal, and while she was asleep, took her back to Ningham.
Though Jackson Baker and Liora Hughes wanted to care for their daughter, with the son-in-law there, they couldn’t say much.
So when Lucy Eaton woke from sleep, finding her room changed.
She found herself lying in the master bedroom on the second floor of Blossom Haven!
"Awake?" The man beside her spoke.
"How did you take me back?"
"Because I can’t handle the company from Northriver for a month, unable to take care of you, so I brought you back."
"Didn’t I say, I want to heal at my parents’?"
"You’re not single, with a husband, naturally the husband takes care." He stated matter-of-factly.
"You’re my husband, yet you don’t know my bottom line; in your eyes, I’m someone who looks at what’s in the pot while eating from the bowl, unaware of your excellence? In my mind, no man can compare to you!"
She’d just finished speaking when he blocked her mouth, Lucy Eaton was about to push him away, yet found his eyes were red.
"I’ve had enough of the days without you," Jacob Green brushed her hair away from her cheek, "Darling, I was wrong, I’m just too afraid to lose you."
Lucy Eaton’s nose soured, she wrapped her arms around his neck, "You pighead."
This gesture greatly pleased Jacob Green; he kissed her neck repeatedly, "I miss you, miss you dearly."
Though Lucy Eaton acted unconcerned, only she knew how much she cared about him.
