Chapter 13: Chapter 13
TIA POV
"Did you know what you just said, honey?" Mom asked in shock.
"Yes, I do mom. I'm getting married to the man I love. I'm sorry I didn't inform you both about him." I lied again.
"Why did you keep such a secret away from us, sunshine?” Dad questioned in disbelief.
“I’m really sorry dad. I know I have been unfair to you guys but please find a place in your hearts to forgive me.” I pleaded.
“It’s alright, sunshine. I forgive you and I’m so happy you took my words of settling down with a man. I want to meet the man who wants to get married to my daughter.” He said which made me transfixed on my spot and short of words.
“Actually, um, dad you see he’s really a busy man and won’t have the time for any meeting but you can see him on the wedding day.”
“Why is that so? Can’t the man who wants to get married to my daughter see her parents before the wedding?” He asked with disappointment in his eyes.
“Honey, we need to know the kind of man you are getting married to and not just any man.” Mom seconded.
“Dad, mom, please try to understand what I am trying to say. He can’t really create time to meet you guys.”
“Where are his parents?” He inquired.
“His dad is in a coma but his mom is aware of our marriage and she’s in support.”
“In that case, we would like to meet with his mother.”
“No problem, I will get in touch with her."
"So, tell us how you and your fiance met." Mom asked suddenly with a smile on her face as dad also gave me the go ahead look.
This is really more complicated than I thought. What am I going to say right now?
EVENING
I was lying on my bed thinking of how my life is going to be in two weeks time with my unknown soon to be husband when the door was pushed open by Katie.
"Hey babe, what are you doing here?" I asked, sitting up.
"This is also my home so I can visit anytime I like." She grumbled, shutting the door behind her.
"You're really impossible to deal with babe. Come take a seat." I gestured her to the bed.
“So, what’s up? Why haven’t you been answering my call?”
“You called?” I asked in shock.
“Yeah, don’t you know?”
“No, I seriously don’t know you called.” I responded, stretching my hand towards the phone on the nightstand and saw ten missed calls from her.
I muted the phone when I went inside the bathroom to take a shower and forgot to change it back.
"I got worried that's why I showed up. So, what's popping?"
"Nothing much. I kinda did something which I know will piss you off." I said, awkwardly.
"What could it be, babe?"
"Well, you see I am getting married soon." I revealed as she wild her eyes in shock, unable to say a word.
"Wait, hold on. Did I hear you clearly?" She yelled.
"Yes you did, Katie. I'm getting married." I affirmed.
"Is this some kind of joke or something? When did you start another relationship without informing your bestie?" She chuckled.
"I'm serious, babe. At least, try and listen to what I have to say."
"Okay. I'm all ears."
"Um, it's not actually a marriage based on love or something. It's a commercial marriage."
"What? When did that happen and who are you getting married to? Make me understand babe.” She shouted, causing me to close her mouth with my palm.
"Please, lower your voice. I don’t want my parents to know we’re discussing it.” I pleaded and moved my hand off her mouth.
“But how can you be getting married leaving your bestie in the dark?”
“I'm really sorry for keeping it away from you. Give me the chance to explain everything to you."
"Then start talking babe." She frowned.
**
“What have you really got yourself into, babe?” She exclaimed after explaining things to her.
“It's the only way to help with the situation of the company."
"It really hurt me to see you in this condition."
"I'll be fine babe. After all, his mom really likes me."
"I still don't like the idea, seriously."
"Let's just hope for the best."
"Yeah, I hope so too. You've been through a lot and deserve the best. I'll really miss you once you get married." She said sadly and pulled me into a hug.
"Me too, Katie. I'll really miss you." I confessed, hugging her back.
TWO DAYS LATER
MRS WALTON POV
I was finally meeting up with Tia’s parents today and I can’t be more than very happy about it.
Tia told me about their request to meet me and discuss the wedding and pleaded with me not to tell them what the marriage is all about.
Although, I’m hurt that the marriage isn't based on love but I believe after the marriage love will set in and Tia will be able to remove the hate Andrew has for women.
"We're ready to leave ma'am." One of the bodyguards walked in disputing my thoughts.
"Are all the items placed in the cars?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Okay. I'll be on my way soon."
“Okay ma’am.” He replied before making his way out.
I made sure I wasn’t missing anything out before I made my way outside.
**
We arrived at the mansion as I got out of the car and instructed the five of the bodyguards to take out the items from the car and trail after me inside.
I just hope they get to like me and accept Tia to get married to my son.
I rang the doorbell waiting patiently as a maid appeared at the door with a smile on her face.
"Good morning ma'am. Mr and Mrs Collins have been expecting you. Please come in." She gestured me in.
"Thank you dear." I uttered and walked inside the spacious living room to find two couples standing who are no doubt Tia's parents.
"Welcome to our home." They both said warmly with a smile on their faces.
