Chapter 385: Chapter 385 - 379: Sharing the Same Hospital Bed
For the convenience of patients, there’s a call button for the nurse at the edge under the pillow.
Jing Jihan’s hand was resting there, five centimeters from her neck, without pressing it, looking down at her.
The man had just woken up himself, and his usually neat short hair was now slightly tousled.
He made no attempt to avoid her despite her lying in bed, boldly leaning down, one hand on the button and the other supporting his body on the other side of her neck.
Shi Su lay there stiffly beneath him, wanting to get up, to push him away, but he was injured, she couldn’t push.
Her eyes shifted slightly to the right, and she asked, "Do you want to press the call button?"
"To call the nurse and apply some medication on your hand."
The man’s voice was right above her, too close, making it hard for Shi Su to breathe. She turned her head, looking for a way to possibly crawl out under his arm, but hard crawling might cause her to bump into his arm.
"No need for medication, it’s just a bit red on the surface. I can rinse it with cold water, I’m not that delicate," Shi Su said, glancing at the man’s hand, always avoiding his gaze as he leaned closer.
But with a person like Jing Jihan, once he made up his mind, telling him a hundred times that it wasn’t necessary was of no use. The call button was pressed, and only then did he get up. As his hand left her neck, Shi Su’s gaze finally returned, briefly catching his back as he went to open the door for the nurse, relieved to see there were no bloodstains on his shoulders.
Although the man got out of bed, he avoided straining the wound on the back of his neck with every move he made, so it shouldn’t be too big a problem.
Shi Su was truly exhausted. From the incident at the Zijin Flower Hotel until now, she had been highly tense without sleep, and earlier, Shi Dongyang had made a scene like a lunatic. Now lying here, despite the strong smell of disinfectant and medicine, she somehow caught a faint, reassuring scent from the sheets; drowsiness came unexpectedly.
After the nurse came in and heard Jing Jihan’s request, she went to the bedside, lifted Shi Su’s wrist for a look, and then went out to find a doctor for medication.
While waiting for the nurse to bring the medicine, Shi Su was nearly too sleepy to stand it.
Suddenly, she heard Jing Jihan ask, "What were you doing standing outside the door just now?"
Shi Su looked up at the plain white ceiling of the hospital room, replying frankly, "I didn’t want to come in."
The man seemed to laugh lightly, "Then why did you come in?"
Shi Su closed her eyes, too sleepy to really think about how to express her feelings, replying perfunctorily and as a matter of course, "You opened the door, not me."
Ten minutes later, the nurse came back with the medicine.
Shi Su was already asleep, lying directly on the hospital bed, vaguely hearing the nurse speaking.
Nurse: "This is a spray, and the other bottle is an ointment. Apply these two medications every two hours, and she should be fine by tomorrow."
Then the nurse asked, "Sir, you still have injuries. Do you need us to help you apply the medicine?"
Jing Jihan spoke up, his tone as calm as ever, "It’s fine, I’ll do it."
"Alright."
The nurse had seen him get out of bed and even let that lady sleep in his hospital bed. She wanted to say something, remind him to be mindful of his own injuries since he was the severely injured patient. But seeing the man’s expression that clearly didn’t want to hear any superfluous words, she ended up saying nothing, and the suggestion to add another bed in the room also went unsaid; she simply left.
Shi Su was already asleep, but in her dreams, she felt a cool, soothing sensation on her wrist, so comfortable that she did not resist, just quietly continued sleeping.
When she returned to the hospital, it was already dark outside. This rare, comfortable nap was deep and long; she didn’t know how many times her wrist was medicated through the night, each time a cool, soothing touch.
In her dream, Shi Su was attending a parent-teacher meeting for Shi Mianmian. The teacher complained that Shi Mianmian had built a gigantic snowman in kindergarten, almost collapsing the school building. Shi Su argued with the teacher that Jiang City couldn’t possibly get so much snow to build such a big snowman.
They argued amidst the dream for quite a while. Somehow, she even started a physical fight, using the little bit of action skills she learned during film shoots.
In the heat of the fight, she suddenly heard a sigh beside her, and a man’s gentle voice sounded in her ear, "Kicking off blankets while sleeping, inherited from Mianmian’s bad habit?"
Jing Jihan pulled the blanket back over her, and Shi Su kicked it off again. He covered her back, and she continued kicking it off.
After a few such cycles, Shi Su felt as if someone joined her in the fight within the dream, pressed closely against her, warm and reassuring.
In the dream, she said, "Hey, who are you? Stand a bit to the side, don’t stick so close. It’s a bit warm and it affects my performance."
That person ignored her, even went further to press her down, and went as far as to tie her up.
Shi Su was shocked, realizing the person wasn’t there to help her!
She struggled in vain and turned to bite the person’s shoulder.
Jing Jihan glanced down at the woman who, even in her sleep, half-bit him, though in reality, her teeth barely touched his shoulder, but she did leave behind some drool. Then she smacked her lips, turned her head, and continued to sleep.
Shi Su had no clue what it was that bound her limbs, making it impossible to overpower the teacher this time. Frustrated, she stood there clamoring for a while before turning to flee, finding Shi Mianmian to warn her to pay attention next time she sees her mother fighting, learn how to handle issues herself, and not let her mother attend parent-teacher meetings only to be reprimanded by teachers.
Then she asked Shi Mianmian where the snowman came from.
Shi Mianmian giggled, pointing to the enormous figure, "That’s Uncle Ji Han!"
"Bah, Uncle, my foot, that huge thing is obviously a snow mound; it’s cold and icy, not any sort of uncle..." Before Shi Su could finish, she suddenly felt that snowman, about to flatten the kindergarten, move, jumped high, and slammed down on her.
Shi Su woke up with such a fright, opening her eyes in confusion, realizing it had been a dream—but how come there was weight on her even after waking up?
Suddenly aware of an arm draped over her, she turned abruptly, seeing the man lying beside her, sharing the same hospital bed under the same blanket.
