Chapter 294: Chapter 294 - 290: The Existence of Shi Mianmian
"Don’t just stand there in a daze; remember to register your fingerprint for the lock," Jing Jihan said to Shi Mianmian as they entered, casually reminding Shi Su.
Huh, does that mean she can come and go freely here in the future?
Shi Su naturally didn’t refuse. She decisively raised her hand and quickly stored her fingerprint. After entering the password once more, she was even more certain that it was indeed a combination of the last two digits of her and Shi Mianmian’s birthdays.
Her heart was filled with an indescribably sweet feeling. She held back the smile that was about to bloom on her lips and went inside. After closing the door, she asked, "Did you go to the supermarket to buy groceries earlier?"
"You clearly indicated that you wanted to bring the kid over for dinner at my place tonight," Jing Jihan gave her a non-answer answer and, after putting down the shopping bag, naturally picked up Shi Mianmian, who was clinging to his leg like an accessory. "It’s getting colder in Jiang City tonight, so it’s not convenient to take the kid out this late. If I didn’t buy groceries, would I let Mianmian eat takeout?"
Shi Mianmian didn’t care what Jing Jihan was saying. As soon as he picked her up, she hurriedly planted a kiss on his cheek. "Uncle Ji Han, Mommy said she’d perform a trick to make you appear, and I didn’t believe her. Turns out you live here!"
Shi Su: "..."
Tsk tsk, the child is growing up and can’t be fooled anymore.
"Uncle, can I come over often in the future? I just saw it’s the thirty-second floor, so close!" Mianmian clung to Jing Jihan’s neck, her little face rubbing against his chin.
"Sure, as long as I’m home, you can come over anytime," Jing Jihan said fondly, pinching her little cheeks.
Seeing this scene, Shi Su felt it was unrealistic to separate the two, so she silently took the groceries Jing Jihan bought into the kitchen, planning to take on the important task of preparing dinner.
As she took the groceries out of the bag one by one, she realized that Jing Jihan had bought things that she and Mianmian liked. Although she knew Jing Jihan wasn’t always cold and heartless, kicking his secretary out, that he had a genuine side that could seamlessly integrate into family life, she hadn’t expected him to be so thoughtful.
The emotional upheaval was due to the uncontrollable attraction, but the detailed tenderness he displayed moved her deeply.
Whether it was his words, the password on the door, or the groceries, everything showed that while he welcomed her into his world, he also included Mianmian in his scope. He was telling her Mianmian wasn’t just hers; Mianmian belonged to them.
Shi Su was about to wash the vegetables when a man’s arm suddenly reached over and turned off the water.
"I’ll do it." The man’s voice sounded above her head. She turned her head to see Jing Jihan had somehow entered the kitchen, and because of their positions and his actions, she suddenly remembered something and instinctively looked toward the kitchen door.
Sure enough, she saw Mianmian peeking in with half her head sticking in, watching secretly.
When she was discovered by Mommy, Mianmian swiftly withdrew her head and ran away.
"You have work tomorrow, so I’ll cook," Shi Su said as she turned back to face him.
"Go accompany the child," Jing Jihan gently pushed her hand away from turning the water back on and signaled with a look for her to go out.
Shi Su had no choice but to withdraw her hand. As she was about to leave, she suddenly turned, stood on tiptoe, and kissed the man’s chin before hurriedly trying to run.
Yet, before she could take a step, the man wrapped his long arm around her and pulled her back, pressing her into his embrace, and kissed her lightly on her lips, "Teasing me? Do you want to eat properly or not?"
"I just kissed...," Shi Su met the man’s eyes, and quickly pushed his face away as he leaned down to kiss her again, "I’ll go accompany Mianmian! Otherwise, the little girl will definitely sneak in and watch again later!"
Saying this, she quickly slipped out of his slightly loosened embrace to find Mianmian.
Mianmian knew Shi Su’s bag often contained her favorite snacks, so she found a bottle of children’s yogurt, sat on the sofa drinking, and waited for them.
Seeing Shi Su sit down, she snuggled into her arms and whispered, "Mommy, we live so close to Uncle Ji Han now! Can we continue to live together with Uncle Ji Han in the future?"
"You really want to live together?"
"Yes!"
"But isn’t living upstairs and downstairs good too? You can still see each other."
"No, I want to live together with Uncle. I want Uncle to put me to bed; I also want to say good morning to Uncle every morning! I want to wash my face and brush my teeth with Uncle in the morning!" Mianmian pouted, "Please, Mommy!"
Shi Su raised her eyebrows and said slowly, "But Uncle Ji Han won’t let you eat too much snacks; he’ll control the amount of chocolate and snacks you eat. Do you still want to live together with him?"
"Ah..." Mianmian’s little face instantly wrinkled like a bun, whining and leaning into Shi Su’s embrace, she whispered, "Then can’t you sneak some for me, Mommy? When Uncle Ji Han isn’t at home, secretly take me out to eat, okay?"
"No."
Before Shi Su could reply, Jing Jihan’s voice abruptly sounded behind them.
The mother and daughter turned around anxiously, only to see Jing Jihan standing behind the sofa with two glasses of freshly squeezed kiwi juice from the kitchen, looking meaningfully at Mianmian, who had wide eyes, and Shi Su, who was suppressing her laughter.
...
Ultimately, Mianmian made a painful sacrifice, choosing Jing Jihan over chocolate and snacks.
Even though the thought of not being able to eat chocolate regularly made her look glum at dinner, she perked up with excitement when she heard Jing Jihan ask Shi Su when she planned to move in, "Oh, can we move in together now?"
Shi Su lightly tapped Mianmian’s little head with her chopsticks, "Hush, eat your meal."
Jing Jihan’s apartment truly had never been intended for anyone else to live in, so it only had one bedroom. However, the other available rooms could easily be converted into a child’s room, so it wasn’t really a hassle.
But if she really moved in, wouldn’t she end up sharing a bed with Jing Jihan every day?
Aside from Mianmian, Shi Su had never shared a bed with anyone. She found it hard to imagine waking up every day to see Jing Jihan lying beside her.
"Mianmian, pick a room you like after dinner and tell Uncle." Jing Jihan suddenly assigned the task to Mianmian.
"Alright, alright!" Mianmian nodded enthusiastically.
Shi Su lowered her head to eat, knowing that Jing Jihan cooking was truly a rare occurrence, and it was so delicious that not eating more would be letting down her stomach.
She even wondered what Jing Jihan had been eating to grow up so perfect in looks and manners, making it unattainable, with cooking skills so good it almost made her cry.
Shi Su focused on eating, deciding not to argue against the quick arrangement made by Jing Jihan and Mianmian.
Mianmian quickly finished eating and skipped around the rooms.
Jing Jihan served Shi Su a bowl of her favorite tomato beef soup, placing it in front of her as he said, "With Mianmian here, going to kindergarten is more convenient. During her winter break, we can live somewhere else."
Shi Su paused, suddenly shocked as she looked at him, "Are you planning to take me and Mianmian to the Jing Family...?"
Jing Jihan chuckled, "It’s not impossible either."
Shi Su: "..."
Was she crazy? Mr. Jing probably didn’t even know about Mianmian’s existence until now!
