Chapter 68: Chapter 68

At MystiArt Productions, the next day. In the Arts Department…

The employees looked back and forth between the girl who looked calm and was silently working on her desktop and the girl who looked furious and was glaring in a particular direction.

They all held their breaths. Their eyes shone in anticipation. There was pin-drop silence in the department, one could attribute it to the calm before the storm.

While Annie worked on her computer, Priscilla was sitting on the desk of one of the cubicles, her eyes fixed on the girl.

With an arrogant look on her face, her hands were folded against her chest. Her demeanor spelled that she was waiting for Annie to make one tiny mistake and she would pick a fight.

The employees were getting bored as time went by and nothing happened. They had been disappointed yesterday that they didn’t get to watch a good show. Would they not be satisfied today also?

Obviously, the Arts Department employees were getting too bored with this lack of drama.

One girl decided to take on the role of the devil. From where she sat in her cubicle, she cleared her throat and said in a clear voice. “Eh? Isn’t Mrs. Ju’an looking so glamorous today? It is as if Mrs. Ju’an’s return came with a blessing. See how the department is peaceful.”

Another girl decided to follow her lead. “Ah, you’re right. One can say Mrs. Ju’an’s beauty surpasses everyone else’s now. Please tell us the secret, could you?”

“Haha, why are you girls even surprised? Have you forgotten that Mrs. Ju’an just returned from her honeymoon? Something good must be coming up, who knows? Very soon, we will hear good news in this department.”

The three girls that just spoke weren’t particularly fond of Annie. They were the kind of employees who loved lazying around during work hours. And throughout the previous three months, Annie had made them go through hell by not cutting them any slack. So, they wait to help Priscilla pick a fight with her.

As the girls continued flattering her, Priscilla’s eyes gleamed. Her haughty look increased and she faked a soft laugh. “Come on, Girls, you make me feel shy. Although the honeymoon lasted for three months, it shouldn’t have completely changed my appearance, right?”

“But it really did, Mrs. Ju’an.”

“Right now, you’re the most beautiful girl in the department.”

“Mrs. Ju’an should take a look into the mirror and see for herself.”

“Stop it, Girls.” Priscilla waved them off with a laugh. “Maybe it’s just as you said. You might hear good news soon, who knows?” And she used that moment to rub her stomach.

“Tsk tsk tsk.” Layla clicked her tongue and scoffed. ‘Isn’t Priscilla so pathetic? Annie does not even hear what the hypocritical girls are saying.’

Because Annie’s hair was down today, no one knew the girl had on earbuds except Layla who was sitting close to her. Annie had the habit of listening to some melody whenever she got very engrossed in designing characters.

Priscilla’s smile faded, seeing that she was being ignored by the girl. Her glare intensified and she balled her fists. She also looked at Layla who was giving her a condescending look and she gritted her teeth.

“Layla, as your brother’s wife! Let me do you the honor of allowing you to sit beside me.” Priscilla smiled.

If Layla kept sitting with Annie, wouldn’t she lose face? Annie was now her mortal enemy. If any of her family member was seen with the girl, it would make the feud between them seem ridiculous.

“Sabrina, get out!” Priscilla looked at the girl sitting in the cubicle next to her and commanded. “From now on, Layla will sit here.”

“S-Sure, Mrs. Ju’an.” The girl’s body was shaking and she quickly began gathering her things.

Layla watched in amusement. She looked at Priscilla as if she had suddenly turned into an antique. “What did you say?”

“I want you to sit beside me.” With her hands still folded across her chest, Priscilla raised her chin.

Layla clapped her hands. Then she threw her head back and laughed. “Priscilla, do you know how ridiculous you look right now? Since when did we become friends?”

“You.” Priscilla’s eyes turned red instantly. “Have you forgotten I’m your brother’s wife, Layla?”

Seeing an argument about to break out between the girls, the employees’ enthusiasm returned. Haha! They didn’t expect Layla to blatantly show her dislike towards Priscilla even after she got married to her brother.

They didn’t get to witness the fight between two girls eyeing one man. Wasn’t the feud between in-laws as interesting?

“So what if you’re my brother’s wife?” Layla snickered. “Be careful, Priscilla, I don’t bite softly when I go berserk.”

The more Layla saw the girl’s face, the more irritated she got. Especially now that Priscilla was trying to pick a fight with her friend, how could she tolerate her? Layla didn’t have the kind of patience Annie possessed.

If she had been the one in Annie’s shoes, she would have long scratched off the girl’s face.

“You.” Priscilla was speechless again.

After calming her anger, she clicked her tongue. “We are not enemies, Layla. But if you try to disrespect me, I won’t consider that you’re now like my Little Sister.”

With that said, she stormed into the Manager’s office.

Hearing Priscilla’s words, Layla slapped her desk and yelled after her. “Come back here, you little bitch! Open that filthy mouth and call me your Little Sister again.”

Layla was so annoyed beyond words. She was even older than that girl. How dare she call her her little sister? Must she tolerate that girl just because she was now her brother’s wife?

“Ms. Ju’an.” One employee called her name, obviously wanting some gossip. “Your brother’s wife is really something, right?”

“Scram!” Layla snapped at her.

When Layla slapped the desk, the sound startled Annie a bit. She removed her earbuds and stared at her friend in confusion.

Layla looked as if she had just swallowed a bitter pill.
