Chapter 58: Chapter 58
Inside the elevator, Mr. Zhang couldn’t take his eyes off the girl. It was as if the man had suddenly lost his tongue. With both hands in his pants pocket, the man’s legs shifted uncomfortably on the floor.
Watching her side profile, the man didn’t have the urge to look away. In his fantasy, he could envision this beauty walking alongside him in the future.
They could have cute little buns just like her. And he would pamper her nonstop. If they had a baby girl, wouldn’t she look exactly like this beauty?
Mr. Zhang’s thoughts were running far, and Annie was beginning to find his silence strange. Looking sideways, she found the man gawking at her.
A normal person would cringe from that kind of look. Mr. Zhang at the moment looked as if he would devour the girl with his large eyes.
“Mr. Zhang.” Annie tilted her head, finding the man’s expression funny. “What did you say you wanted to talk about? I believe this elevator is private enough for us to discuss.”
Mr. Zhang was pulled out of his fantasy by the girl’s voice. He quickly looked away, hanging his head. The man’s cheeks looked like tomatoes and his ears were tinged red.
“W-Well…” He was even stuttering.
Scratching his neck as if bitten by an insect, Mr. Zhang couldn’t find the proper words to say. Would he scare this beauty off if he proposed out of the blue?
After all, she was already aware of his feelings in the past. Maybe he should remind her first.
When Mr. Zhang opened his mouth, he intended to say something like: ‘Ms. Lin, what do you think about marrying me?’
But what came out of his mouth was: “Erm, Ms. Lin. Someone might walk in on us here. How about we discuss in my office?”
Annie’s brows settled into a frown. The stranger the man acted, the more confused she got. “I don’t want to guess what Mr. Zhang wants to say. Also, I don’t think someone walking on us will make you uncomfortable, right?”
Mr. Zhang shook his head to disagree. Was this girl oblivious to his intentions or was she simply acting?
“Ms. Lin, it is like this…” He trailed off. Mr. Zhang was really afraid that someone might walk in on them. “I want to reassure Ms. Lin that I don’t have bad intentions. I hope you won’t disagree to follow me to the HR Department.”
When he finished the last word, the elevator came to a stop. Annie didn’t get to say a reply because someone joined them in the elevator.
Mr. Zhang didn’t lose his tongue this time. His knees almost went weak and he pinched himself to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. “M-Mr. Lim.”
The person who just walked in was the new CEO. His expression and his intimidating presence were doing strange things to Mr. Zhang.
This man whom he had only met twice couldn’t be mistaken even among a thousand people. He had a suppressing aura around him, like that of a king. Anyone who stood in his proximity would do nothing but avoid his sharp gaze.
Yet, contrary to Mr. Zhang, the girl only looked at him once and greeted. “Mr. Lim.”
The man didn’t answer though. He was glaring at Mr. Zhang and she wasn’t spared from his dark look.
Who knew Andrew would walk in on her with Mr. Zhang? He had just read about them in the company’s forum. Now, he no longer doubted the employees’ words because he had seen it for himself.
With the CEO standing with them, Mr. Zhang had lost all his confidence. The kind of look the man gave him was as if he had caught him red-handed, taking something that didn’t belong to him.
Mr. Zhang wracked his brain to make sure he hadn’t offended this man before. He felt so intimidated that he couldn’t wait for the elevator to make its next stop.
Quickly, Mr. Zhang tapped on the buttons and fled out the moment the doors opened.
Annie had a small smile on her face, watching Mr. Zhang run away. She shook her head and clicked her tongue. “I wonder how many employees will be left in MystiArt Productions in the next few months. If Mr. Lim keeps acting this way, the HR Department might start getting resignation letters soon.”
“How about you start the countdown from now?” The man looked annoyed by her words. “Annabelle, I didn’t know you to be this frivolous.”
“By being frivolous, does Mr. Lim mean I date many men at the same time?” Annie raised a brow, maintaining the subtle smile on her face. “I didn’t beg you to marry me, Mr. Lim. Why do you look like a wronged husband?”
“That shouldn’t give you room to hang out with other men,” Andrew retorted. The man was still thinking about his pride even now.
Even though their marriage was only in name, he felt deeply offended that she would think about hanging out with other men.
“We only have one year, Annabelle. You can be as frivolous as you want when the contract ends. Right now, you are my wife.”
“Really?” Annie stared at him helplessly. “Mr. Lim, let’s put an end to this joke. You obviously don’t want to marry me. You just want to pester my life. I believe Mr. Lim has other important businesses to tend to.”
Andrew looked at her for a few seconds. No words were exchanged and there was tension in the air.
He finally let out a scoff before walking forward. In just a few seconds, he managed to cage the girl between the wall.
Lifting her chin, he made her look into his eyes, an almost evil look appearing in his eyes. “Will you move in with me or not?”
Annie didn’t expect his question. The girl looked distracted for some seconds. Because he was standing too close to her, the scent coming from his body was doing strange things to her.
“I have already made it clear to Mr. Lim that I have no interest in living together.”
“What if I give you no choice?”
He looked all serious and Annie’s heart pounded. “Mr. Lim, unless you’re going to kidnap me and lock me up, there’s no way we’re going to live together.”
