Chapter 50: Chapter 50
While Andrew was in his room, unbuttoning his shirt, anger was visible in his eyes. The man had raced back home in a fit of rage. After his assistant reported to him that she already left, he first laughed at the stupidity of the guy.
But before punishing the assistant, he had to make him watch the surveillance. “Annabelle, are you on a mission to make me regret marrying you?” He said to no one in particular.
Three years ago, she had done the same thing. Now, three years later… did she think she could hurt him twice?
A slight knock came from the door and he turned around. Seeing the girl who just walked in, irritation flashed in his eyes.
“Andy.” Rayne’s heart sank, watching the man’s angry expression. She plastered on a sweet smile and walked forward. “Your anger seems to be increasing by the day. Won’t you tell me what is bothering you? Is it the workload?”
“It’s none of your concern.”
His sharp words made her gasp and she covered her mouth in shock. The man gave off a dangerous aura, she couldn’t help but take a few steps away from him. What had irked him this much?
This man would normally act cool even if he was mad. He would speak carefully, considering the other party’s feelings.
But nowadays, he was turning into someone she couldn’t recognize. He was turning back into the same situation he fell into when that girl left three years ago. In fact, he was getting worse.
“Andy, if there’s something bothering you, how can you hide it from me? Considering our many years of friendship, do you think it is fair?”
Andrew ignored her and walked to the other side of the room. He was loosening his necktie and Rayne followed him.
“Whatever is bothering you might be related to why you canceled our engagement, right?” Rayne always had a feeling that his rapid change in attitude had something to do with that girl. No– she already knew that.
“Getting caught up in the past will only bring bad decisions. Andy, if I see someone that hurt me before, I’ll do anything to get rid of them. The more I lose control over them, the more they’ll become my weakness, serving as an obstacle. Would you let an enemy keep getting in your way?” She asked in a soft pitiful voice.
Rayne hoped her message could get to him. Her greatest mistake was letting that girl into their lives three years ago.
Three years ago, she had been desperate to make him look at her. She thought having another woman break his heart would make him let down his guard. If she had gone for a better option, would she be in this dilemma?
Annie had become an obstacle for her. If she couldn’t get rid of that girl, why not turn her into their mutual enemy?
Andrew listened to Rayne’s words until she was done speaking. His anger only heightened and he hoped he could get a hold of that girl.
“Get out!” In a fit of rage, he snapped at her.
Rayne was taken aback. She opened her mouth but no words came out. Was he really chasing her out? Or were her ears playing tricks on her?
“Andy–“
“Don’t let me repeat myself,” he said in a warning tone.
Cowering from his dark gaze, Rayne turned around and strode out of the room, her fingers balling into a fist.
When she reached her room, she kicked at and broke everything in her way. Not a single object was spared from her rage. The glass mirror was in pieces and the room was filled up with a strong scent as perfume bottles shattered on the floor.
“Young Miss.” Max walked in hours later and found her sitting on the floor. Part of her dress was covered in blood and he realized the blood was flushing from her hand.
Quickly, he used a white towel to wrap her hand, stopping the blood from flowing. He was just gone for a few hours. What happened to her?
Seeing her in this miserable state, Max’s heart ached. Her once-perfect look was disheveled. Her hair stuck to her face and her eyes were red with tears. Like a white sheet, her skin seemed to have become paler.
“Young Miss, I should take you to a hospital.” Max wanted to help her up but she pushed him away weakly.
“Leave me alone, Max. What’s the point in living?” More tears flowed from her eyes. Despite being cold while they were growing up, that man had never raised his voice on her.
Was it because she pointed out the truth? That girl was their mutual enemy. If he could get rid of her, wouldn’t he finally find peace?
“I don’t think I want to live anymore.” She sniffled. “No matter what I do, will Andy ever look at me? Won’t he continue growing worse every day?”
“I am very sorry that I can’t make your worry go away, Young Miss. I hope there’s a way I can help you.”
But even in the next life, Rayne wanted to be with him. She must be with him. How could she think about dying at this moment? Wouldn’t it be her losing game?
That girl was out there enjoying life. She had Andrew wrapped around her fingers like a puppet. How could she think of dying without getting back at that girl first?
“There is only one way you can help me, Max.” Rayne looked at him, an evil glint flashing in her eyes.
Max had an inkling about what she wanted to ask him to do. He sighed inside and shook his head. “Remember you told me to lay low, Young Miss. What if the Young Master suspects something?”
He could get rid of that girl easily. And that would bring him consequences if the Young Master happened to suspect anything.
“This time, you won’t do it yourself. I want you to hire people, Max. Let them keep a close watch on her. At the very first chance they get, let them strike her to death!”
