Chapter 49: Chapter 49

At Golden Fall Villa,

The luxurious living room would ripple everyone once in a while with tiny laughter and sensuous voices of ladies. Sitting on the large couches were five of them. They were engrossed in chatting, their admiring gazes fixed on the lady sitting on the large couch.

With one leg atop the other one, Rayne sat elegantly, exuding an air of arrogance. One look could tell this girl was born and raised in luxury. She didn’t speak much despite the ladies throwing compliments at her.

While busy checking out her fingernails, her eyes would flutter up laded with a hint of boredom. She would force a smile at the ladies then drink from her wine glass before going back to checking out her fingernails.

“Ms. Xin, we have heard good things about you. Who would have thought you would move into this City?”

“All the commendable things you did in the entertainment industries in the other City never ceased to intrigue us. We are delighted that you decided to shower your blessing in this City as well.”

“Even though Ms. Xin isn’t an actress, I heard she takes good care of the actresses under her. The dramas you’ve invested in in the past are known for their instant popularity.”

“If Ms. Xin would not mind, we can keep you company whenever you are bored. You’re like a guest in this City, so you might feel lonely sometimes.”

“Ms. Xin, I grew up here and know every nook and cranny of this City. If Ms. Xin feels bored, I’m just a call away.”

Why were these ladies buttering her up to the point of offering their loyalty? Simply because they were celebrities.

Not long after this lady moved into this City, they had heard she was about to invest in a new drama. The main reason why most of the dramas she invested in became successful was: she spent a lot of money.

And by spending so much money, it meant treating the actors and actresses so well, coaxing the paparazzi with some cash so they could put in good words about the drama, and making sure all the cinema aired nothing but the drama at that time frame.

If they could get on her good side and maybe be friends, that would change their lives forever. They would get to act in a lot of popular drama. And the directors would be fighting to cast them in their movies.

An air of boredom surrounded Rayne. Using one hand to support her head, she twirled the wine glass with the other hand.

These ladies were nothing but minor celebrities. From D-list actresses to unpopular models, none of them held any significance in the entertainment industry. People were so ungrateful. If she helped any of them become popular, wouldn’t they bite her in the future?

Rayne never stopped thinking about that girl. She had learned a great lesson. Andrew seemed to be still madly in love with her. She had warned her not to have anything to do with him after the contract was over. That girl was weak at that time. If it hadn’t been for her help, would she still be living?

Rayne fisted her hand, gripping the wine glass until her fingers ached. The other ladies stared at her worriedly. They had noticed the change in her expression and they wondered if they had said something they weren’t supposed to say.

“Ms. Xin, are you alright?”

“Is it something that is bothering you? You appear to be spacing out.”

“Ms. Xin, if it’s something we can help with, please don’t hesitate to tell us.”

Rayne retained her calm expression. She forced a sweet smile and said, “I am fine. It is good to have you here, but I must ask you to leave. If you need anything in the future, come to me and I might help.”

The ladies looked as if they had hit a jackpot. Without minding that she was asking them to leave, they thanked her profusely and stood up.

“You are so generous, Ms. Xin.”

“As long as Ms. Xin won’t mind, we’d like to offer our loyalty.”

“Ms. Xin can ask us to do anything and we won’t hesitate. We will come here once in a while to check on your health if you won’t mind.”

In reply, Rayne waved her hand in a dismissive gesture. She didn’t stand up to walk them out, and she slowly sipped the remaining wine.

On their way out, the ladies were so happy that they chatted loudly. It was almost dark, yet, they planned to go straight to a bar to celebrate their success.

They were chatting about their plans when their eyes caught a tall figure coming from the door.

The ladies lost their tongues. A hushed silence fell among them. As if their knees had suddenly gone weak, they had to hold each other for support.

Walking toward them was the most handsome man they had ever set their eyes on. Even women would be jealous of his beauty. Full brows, sharp jaws, straight nose, and a piercing gaze. His skin was so fair and smooth, they resisted the temptation to touch it. Each of his steps commanded authority. As he walked past them without sparing them a glance, it was as if their hearts had gone with him.

“Is– Is this a real person?” One lady stuttered. “Perhaps he’s an actor.”

“Shut up, if an actor like this exists, will this be our first time seeing him?”

“He looks wealthy. He might own this place. Is he, perhaps, Ms. Xin’s fiance?”

If he wasn’t her husband, he should be her fiance. Someone like this was living together with Ms. Xin. Didn’t she have everything in the world, then?

“Girls, I think we should come here often.”

Suddenly, the girls’ expressions transformed into strange looks. They nodded to each other, sharing knowing smiles.

“Ms. Xin might not be up to the task of looking after this kind of man.”

Haha!

The girls left in high spirits. Since that lady had already granted them entrance into this Villa, they might as well use the opportunity to their full advantage. Knowing a powerful man was better than knowing a powerful woman.

Ladies could get jealous of each other most of the time, but men’s generosity was on another level.

Rayne gritted her teeth as she watched the surveillance from her phone. She smashed the wine glass on the floor and tossed the phone away.

“Hehe.” A small laughter left her lips. Then she threw her head back and laughed loudly.

Surely, those poor girls were the most ungrateful things. She just offered to help them, yet, they were planning to covet her man.

“Max!” She called the guy who instantly appeared from a corner that led to the backyard.

“I want you to teach them a lesson.” Rayne’s voice was filled with rage. She was so mad that her eyes turned red.
