“If you want to speak anyhow, do that when you’re in a marketplace. While waiting for the evidence, I expect everyone to act like adults.”

The CEO didn’t look pleased, and his attention was especially on Mr. Wang. One could assume that Mr. Wang was a bit flustered because the man quickly sat down.

“You see what I’m telling you, Old Wu?” Mr. Wang whispered to his friend. “It appears this new CEO isn’t so fond of me.”

“Hey, don’t fret over it,” Mr. Wu assured him in a whisper. “The boy is an upright person. Let’s just throw the evidence at him. I am sure he will have no choice but to give Mr. Yang what he deserves.”

Seeing the two friends whispering again, Mr. Yang sighed heavily and shook his head. His heart was beating hard and his palms were sweaty.

Without a doubt, Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu were all out to get him. How did they know that he had skillfully fooled them?

If Mr. Wang hadn’t gotten in his way, if he hadn’t supervised the selection of the employees, this wouldn’t have happened, right?

He looked up and his eyes met the girl who was the bone of contention. Mr. Yang was happy that the girl was able to get the position she deserved.

However, that was about to make him lose his own position. Did he do a good thing by helping her out? Hadn’t his morals caused him this?

Sensing that Mr. Yang was staring at her longer than normal, Annie found it strange. Standing behind the CEO, the girl minded her business, blocking out the noises in the room.

She looked at Mr. Yang and that was when the man stopped staring at her. Then she felt a cold gaze beside her and she looked down to find the CEO studying her.

“Ms. Lin, do you have something to say?” The question was thrown at her by Mr. Wang.

Since the meeting started, Mr. Wang had also paid close attention to the girl. He wasn’t surprised to see her with the CEO. He was only disheartened that this girl was living carefreely while his baby girl lived with heartache every day.

Mr. Wang had noticed the IT Department’s Manager staring at the girl. And he also noticed how the CEO frowned a bit, seeing her interaction with Mr. Yang.

Mr. Wang thought this was a great opportunity for him. He didn’t also like the way his son-in-law, who had never uttered a word since the meeting started, stared at her.

“Ms. Lin,” he continued. “I noticed you staring at Mr. Yang. There are many girls in this company whom Mr. Yang has harassed. We were only able to fish out a few. It seems you’re among those girls, Ms. Lin. If you want justice, you can speak out!”

Mr. Wang spoke in an authoritative voice, hoping to intimidate the girl.

“Oh?” Annie tilted her head, staring at the man. “Pardon me, Mr. Wang. What made you assume I’m among Mr. Yang’s victims?”

“Haven’t you been exchanging secret glances?” Mr. Wang berated. “Little girl, don’t be scared. You can speak out now and we shall seek justice for you.”

Everyone in the meeting room was speechless, seeing what was unfolding between Mr. Wang and the girl.

While some people found it strange and almost believed him, Mr. Wu only laughed softly. “Old Wang, you’re bad. Are you planning to kill two birds with one stone?”

“Hehe, isn’t this the right opportunity?” Mr. Wang whispered back. “This girl has pushed my baby girl too much. We might as well make her fall out of the CEO’s favor.”

The CEO, on the other hand, was staring at Annie who had a small smile on her face. The man opened his mouth to talk, and on second thought, he remained silent. An almost subtle smile settled on the side of his lips which instantly disappeared in that second.

No one was looking at the CEO and no one sensed the slight change in his demeanor. Even when he looked at Mr. Wang this time, no one could tell what he was thinking.

“Little girl,” Mr. Wang went on. “Come on, speak up. Tell everyone how Mr. Yang has harassed you.”

“I have to disappoint Mr. Wang. I know nothing about what you’re saying.” Annie gave him the terse reply. Her tone was light and careless, everyone could tell this girl wasn’t interested in Mr. Wang’s question.

Mr. Wang felt deeply offended that the girl was treating him like air. He clicked his tongue and laughed inside.

“Little girl, this is the only way out. Just tell everyone about how Mr. Yang harassed you. I assure you he no longer has any power to harm you. This Old Man will seek justice for you,” Mr. Wu said.

“You are about my daughter’s age. Little girl, you must know that we only want what is good for you. If you expose this man now, we will do our best to help you overcome the trauma.”

Annie wanted to laugh, but then, those cunning men weren’t funny at all. Although the girl minded her business, at one glance, she could tell what was going on between the three. Mr. Wang, Mr. Wu, and Mr. Yang.

She wasn’t oblivious to what Mr. Wang did to her. And she wouldn’t be surprised if Mr. Yang’s case was a part of their cunningness.

What surprised her was that these men were trying to suppress her in this kind of situation.

A normal girl would have broken down and spilled out what they wanted to hear as they urged her on to speak.

But this girl’s haughtiness only increased. The more Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu spoke, the more uninterested she appeared.

“Little girl, why are you hesitating? Won’t you tell us the truth?”

“Or is it that you and Mr. Yang have been doing it willingly that is why you don’t want to speak up? I can tell your situation with him is the same as his assistant.”

Now the men were even accusing her too. Annie blinked at them and her lips parted.

“Mr. Wang, stop this already.” Mr. Yang couldn’t take it anymore. “Please leave the girl alone. Have you ever seen us together? Stop trying to implicate more people.”

Mr. Wang’s followers who had completely grasped the situation didn’t allow Mr. Yang to finish speaking.

“Eh? Mr. Yang, why are you defending her?”

“Is it true that Mr. Wang is right? Surely, this girl shouldn’t be older than your assistant and it seems you are more into pretty little girls.”

“If this girl doesn’t want to speak up, does it mean you had her consent?”

“Seriously?” Annie could ignore the hypocritical men. But seeing them trying to drag her into the situation, the girl was a bit annoyed.

“With all due respect, Gentlemen. I implore you to think before speaking. If Mr. Wang thinks something is going on between me and Mr. Yang, could you provide us with the evidence?”
