Chapter 146: Chapter 146
Inside The Meeting Room…
The shareholders, the Managers, and their assistants were present. There was tension in the atmosphere, one could assume everyone was about to undergo a trial.
From deep scowls and frowns of disapproval, the higher-ups’ expressions didn’t look good. Among everyone sitting in the meeting room, only a few people were able to remain calm.
The first of them was the CEO. One would think that what happened held no significance to him, judging from his laid-back expression until one looked into his eyes. And none of them dared to do that.
They could feel the suppressing atmosphere coming from the man. Even the shareholders couldn’t help but feel intimidated.
Slowly, the man tapped his finger on the desk, his gaze sweeping across everyone in the room before his eyes settled on the IT Department’s Manager who was standing in the middle of it all.
Actually, one didn’t have to guess what was about to happen. Mr. Yang, who was about to undergo the greatest trial of his life, stood in front of everyone, his head looking down, his chin almost touching his chest.
The once proud and confident Manager now avoided everyone’s eyes. One could tell the man was on the verge of breaking down.
His trembling fingers and the downcast look on his face were the least physical signs. Mr. Yang, at the moment, looked as if he had aged a few more decades.
“What do you have to say regarding that video?” The CEO’s deep voice fell on the room, shattering the overwhelming silence.
“M-Mr. Lim…” Mr. Yang avoided his eyes. “I- I can explain… that video…”
“I’m listening.” The CEO appeared patient to want to hear what Mr. Yang had to say. However, everyone knew this meeting would arrive at one conclusion.
Mr. Yang would lose his job. So why waste time investigating him? It was evident and everyone saw that video, not even a child wouldn’t understand Mr. Yang’s atrocity.
“This is outrageous.” Today, Mr. Wang was sitting with the shareholders, beside his bosom friend, the former CEO. “The IT Department’s Manager has brought great shame to MystiArt Productions. Why waste our time on him, Mr. Lim? That video is enough evidence.”
No one wanted to speak before due to the enormity of the situation. Most of the Managers were also having mixed feelings regarding this.
They found it hard to believe that Mr. Yang would do such kind of a thing. Yet, after hearing Mr. Wang speak, his followers immediately chipped in.
“I say, Mr. Yang should be relieved of his position immediately. This event is like a huge turbulence in MystiArt Productions. Apart from breaking the rule about no more dating in the company, Mr. Yang had the guts to do those things with his assistant in the company’s parking lot.”
“Mr. Lim, this is like setting a bad example for all the employees. If Mr. Yang goes scot-free, someone will do something worse the next time.”
“Let’s observe justice for MystiArt Productions, Mr. Lim. Let not one Manager bring this blessed company to its ruins.”
“As the former CEO and also one of the major shareholders in MystiArt Productions.” Mr. Wu stood up. “I want Mr. Lim to do what is right and throw this man out of this company.”
The room buzzed with noises as everyone said their minds. The murmurs and whispers increased and it led to a state where everyone was speaking and no one was speaking.
Mr. Yang wiped off his sweat constantly. The man was so lost and confused. Standing in front of all these people and having them berate him, he couldn’t find the courage to defend himself.
But when his eyes went to Mr. Wang who seemed to be madder than anyone else in the room, Mr. Yang squinted his eyes.
And the moment Mr. Wang whispered something to his friend, Mr. Wu, and the man spoke his next words, Mr. Yang finally had an inkling of who was behind his scandal.
“Mr. Lim,” Mr. Wu said in a loud displeased voice. “Everyone assumed Mr. Yang is an upright Manager in this company. For many years, this man has managed to fool us. Mr. Yang is not an honest man, he is, in fact, a womanizer, and most of the employees can attest to that.”
The CEO’s calm expression was replaced by a small frown. “Mr. Yang, is that true?”
Mr. Yang was too flabbergasted to speak. Ah! When did he womanize? “M-Mr. Wu?” He looked at the man. “How can you label me with such things? While you were the CEO, have you had any shortcomings from me?”
“Shut up! How dare you speak like that? If I didn’t have evidence, what would I gain by framing you?”
“Old Wu, you’re right,” Mr. Wang added. “Mr. Yang is surely disrespectful. Just admit your sins and leave this company. If you still want to drag this matter, we might as well bring forth the evidence.”
“M-Mr. Lim, it’s a lie. Please don’t believe them.” Mr. Yang looked at the CEO. He was a hundred percent sure that this was Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu’s doing?
Otherwise, why would the two men accuse him of what he never did? Mr. Wang admitted that they had evidence. What evidence? He never even womanized.
“Mr. Wang, I would like to see the evidence,” The CEO said to Mr. Wang. “Up till now, you didn’t admit you did it or not. Mr. Yang, if the evidence is tangible, you know what is coming.”
“Eh? Is it not the evidence?” Mr. Wang chuckled. “Of course, we shall all see it now. Let’s hear it from the girls whom Mr. Yang has secretly harassed in the past.”
“Ah! You- Mr. Wang!”
“Shut up! You have no right to point at me. Mr. Yang, your reputation in MystiArt Productions is completely gone.”
After saying that, Mr. Wang whispered to his assistant who was standing behind him. The guy nodded promptly and left the room.
The whispers and murmurs continued and Mr. Yang held his forehead with both hands, shaking his head.
“Mr. Wang, this world is vast enough. If everyone minds their own business, we won’t be obstacles in each others’ past. You wish to bring me down in this company, how will it benefit you?”
“Are you saying I was the one that made you sleep with your assistant?” Mr. Wang wasn’t surprised or angry. He pointed at the man and laughed, and every one of his followers laughed along.
“Mr. Yang, aren’t you audacious?”
“You should be begging on your knees and maybe the heavens will have mercy on you. Yet, you’re looking for someone to pin the blame on.”
“Shame on you, Mr. Yang. Haven’t you been haughty before while you were still the respected and honest Manager every employee knew? Do you think anyone will tolerate your haughtiness this time?”
“Both you and your assistant deserved to be punished. Very soon, you shall have your tribulation.”
“That’s enough.” The CEO’s voice echoed in the room and they all composed themselves.
