Chapter 141: Chapter 141
When Dylan entered Annie’s bedroom, his eyes landed on the empty bed. The guy looked shocked for a few seconds. Then his shocked expression was replaced by an amused look.
His eyes twinkled and he let out a soft laugh. Walking forward, he was about to head to the window when his ears caught a tiny sound behind him.
“Why are you snooping around?”
“Ah!” Dylan jolted from his sister’s voice. He turned around, looking flabbergasted. “Big Sis, you- Didn’t you…?”
“Didn’t I what?” Annie gave him a blank look.
Dylan looked from the window to her, his mouth open as if he wanted to spill everything he saw in the night. The guy was speechless, knowing that he hadn’t seen wrong.
Annie who had just come out of the bathroom proceeded to the closet to find something to wear.
“Big Sis.” Dylan followed her. “You know I’m your dear brother. Even if you commit a sin against the heavens, I won’t dare expose you.”
“What is it?” Annie didn’t look at him as she busily searched for a cloth.
“Hehe.” Dylan scratched his head. “Where did you sneak out to last night? Big Sis, tell me you’re not up to something good.”
Annie’s hand halted and she turned around. She wasn’t shocked by his words and she didn’t pretend that she was.
“What if I told you I was up to something good?”
“Ha! Who would believe that?” Dylan laughed. “I just wanna tell you that if you’re up to something mischievous to anger that woman, let me know so we both can-“
“Dylan, get out.” Annie held up the shirt in her hand, indicating to him that she wanted to change.
The smile on the guy’s face didn’t fade away. If he was correct, his sister didn’t want to divulge anything.
What exactly was she up to?
Dylan left her bedroom and almost bumped into their Mum. Mrs. Lin watched the smile of mischief on her son’s face and she raised a brow.
“What are you up to, you brat!” She dropped both hands on her waist and snapped.
“Mum-“ Dylan wanted to whine but the woman cut him off.
“I told you to get your sister. Where is she?” Mrs. Lin had been impatiently waiting. She couldn’t even concentrate on cooking.
While waiting for the stupid boy to get Annie, she had lost count of time.
Dylan pursed his lips, scratching the back of his neck. “You seem too angry this morning, Mum. Your blood pressure-“
“Don’t tell me about blood pressure. If that Mrs. Ming and her Chen haven’t angered me- If you aren’t too troublesome, will I be like this?”
“Ma, Good Morning.” Annie came out of her room and Mrs. Lin’s expression eased a bit.
“Annie, Dear. Did you sleep well? I hope nothing disturbed your sleep. You know this building can be noisy sometimes at night.”
“Y-Yeah?” Annie answered, a bit confused.
“Great. Great.” Mrs. Lin smiled and pulled her to the dining table. “I have made your favorite for breakfast. Didn’t you say you miss my cooking, Annie? You can eat as much as you want.”
Not only Annie, even Dylan was confused. The once angry woman who looked as if she would skin him alive was now treating his sister like a flower vase.
“Mum-“
“Shut up. Don’t interrupt while your sister is eating.” Mrs. Lin shut him up with a glare. Then she turned to Annie. “Look at you, Dear. I can tell you don’t eat so well. If you’re finding it difficult to live alone, you can move back to this place. After all, I was the one that coaxed you to leave.”
Annie stopped eating and looked at the woman. “Ma, tell me what you want.”
It was as if she could read the woman’s thoughts. Mrs. Lin couldn’t be happier. One thing she liked about the girl was always getting to the point. As always, Annie knew whenever the woman wanted something from her.
“I want you to give that boy a chance.”
“That coward?” Dylan looked up from his food.
“Shut up!” Mrs. Lin didn’t look at him and she gave Annie an amiable smile. “Jonah is a good boy, Dear. Let’s not give up on him yet. I knew it right from the beginning that he is the right man for you. Among all those young boys in that town, only he volunteered to help me carry the goods and I didn’t even know him.”
That day, Mrs. Lin had traveled to the province nearby to get some local goods for her store. Due to the heavy traffic, no car wanted to carry her goods to the city.
That was when she met that boy. She didn’t even ask for his help and he volunteered to deliver her goods.
Mrs. Lin didn’t know if she should trust him, but then, the boy proved her wrong and put her mind at ease when she realized that her goods had been delivered safely.
He personally dropped her off in his car apart from paying the truck driver. Since that day, Mrs. Lin couldn’t stop thinking about him.
They met again and she skillfully told him about her daughter. Immediately, the boy seemed to have developed an interest in Annie even though he hadn’t seen her yet.
“Mum.” Dylan interrupted the woman from her thoughts. “Are you sure it wasn’t love at first sight?”
“What do you mean?”
“Hehe, I don’t think you want him for Big Sis. She doesn’t even know him. But you-“
Before Dylan completed his words, a spatula landed on his mouth. “Silly Brat! What do you take your mother? Do you think I’m the type that will chase after young boys?”
“Mum!”
“You seem too full.” Mrs. Lin grabbed the food bowl sitting in front of him. “Today, you will look over the store without taking a break while I spend the whole day watching TV with your sister.”
“Come on, Mum!”
As Mrs. Lin berated Dylan, Annie finished her food and packed the plates and utensils away. She washed them in the kitchen sink while suppressing a yawn.
Mrs. Lin only remembered her daughter after she finished scolding Dylan. By that time, Annie was done in the kitchen.
The woman came out to the living room and found her daughter sleeping on the couch. A huge frown formed on her face and she wondered why the girl was sleeping again. Didn’t she just wake up?
