Chapter 138: Chapter 138
“I know.” Rayne nodded at his words, obediently. “I acted insane. But only girls with stone-cold hearts won’t get flustered when their wedding is suddenly called off.”
The room sank into silence and the man looked away from her. Even the storm in his eyes had disappeared and he appeared all calm.
“Andy…” She called his attention after a few seconds. “I have asked the Chef to prepare your favorite food. It will be done in no time. Don’t sleep yet.”
“Mm.”
The man didn’t answer but only made a sound of agreement. Rayne’s smile brightened up and she got up carefully.
“Then… I’ll leave you alone. I’ll call you when the food is ready,” She said softly before turning around and leaving the room.
On stepping out, the girl’s smile washed away and a coldness flashed in her eyes. ‘Tsk Tsk Tsk… Annie… What have you done to this man?’
She wanted to spit blood, but in her heart was also a mixture of happiness. ‘Between you and I, let’s see who is more treacherous? You want to be the villain? Ha!’
The Chef was pacing inside the kitchen, looking distracted. At one glance, one could tell that the woman was anxious.
On seeing the Young Miss enter, she hurried up to her and asked, “How did it go, Young Miss? Did the plan work?”
From the dangerous look on the girl’s face, the Chef couldn’t tell if the plan worked or not. And she was a bit afraid that the girl would rain her anger on her.
The Chef had been praying fervently that her suggestion worked. After all, she had exhausted all her energy, coaxing the Young Miss to try out the plan.
If the Young Miss struck her now, she might as well be dead meat.
“It worked.” Rayne smirked, the cold look still in her eyes.
The Chef literally held her chest and staggered with relief.
“I didn’t know you were smart, woman.” Rayne’s eyes softened and she patted the woman’s shoulder. “If you had shown your smartness before, you wouldn’t have gotten into much trouble.”
Surely, the only way to survive under an evil person is to show them that you are also evil.
The Chef only tried her luck. Who knew she would someday be admired by this Young Miss?
“Hehe, I am happy that it worked, Young Miss. Didn’t I tell you that men like the Young Master don’t like desperate women? The more you show them your love, the more they run from you.”
“Do you mean I’m desperate?” Rayne saw that word as an insult.
“No. No. Of course not.” The Chef waved both hands, shaking her head rapidly. “Young Miss, you only love the Young Master deeply which isn’t a wrong thing. And now that you’re able to control your feelings towards him, I assure you things will turn out in your favor.”
“But I hate doing this. It makes me feel as if that girl is above me.”
“You will soon get rid of her, Young Miss. Once that happens, you can have the Young Master to yourself.”
Rayne leaned against the counter and folded her hands, staring straight at the woman. “I want that to happen soon. I can’t wait to hear the news of her death.”
The Chef swallowed a gulp and quickly nodded.
This girl looked harmless on the outside. No one would suspect she bore evil intentions in her heart.
All her life, the Chef had never encountered such kind of human being. Someone who would speak about another person’s death as if talking about killing a fly.
“Th- That is right. With that girl’s disappearance, you will finally find happiness. The Young Master won’t hesitate to ask for your hands again.”
“Enough blabbering.” Rayne put on an irritated look. “Quick, prepare the food and make sure it is done well. Be fast.”
After giving out the harsh command, she stood up straight and sauntered out of the kitchen. The Chef sighed and resumed her work.
.
Several minutes later, the food was done.
As Rayne sat at the dining table opposite the man, she couldn’t take her eyes off him. It was as if the girl was trying to recognize his features.
Despite being so close in the past, not a day went by without her missing him. Definitely, the past several weeks had been hard for her.
Throughout the day and night, she would think about this man all the time. He wouldn’t even pick up her call so she stopped trying.
As he was no longer in the other city, she couldn’t also ask about him through his mother.
“I once heard that MystiArt Productions joins hands with the Entertainment Industry.” Rayne broke the silence, dropping her spoon. “I wish someday, I’ll be able to collaborate and contribute something to the company.”
“MystiArt Productions is restructuring its infrastructure. That might happen. But not soon.”
Rayne smiled at his reply and lowered her head. “You are doing great, Andy. How I wish I was half as good as you. In this world, who can compete with you?”
Hearing her say that, the man frowned a bit and he stopped eating.
“I mean in the business world.” Rayne quickly rephrased her words, knowing she was about to touch a hot topic. “No one can compete with you in the business world. You single-handedly took the companies in the other city to new heights. It is something a lot of people can only dream of.”
“Eat your food.” The man didn’t appear to like her noise and he continued eating.
Rayne only smiled, watching him silently. How could she have any appetite when a whole feast was sitting in front of her? She was already full by just staring at him.
The place became silent again and when he finished eating, she didn’t even get the Chef and she packed the plates away.
Throughout the night, Rayne had a smile on her face. She couldn’t sleep so she went downstairs and prepared some warm milk.
Wondering if the man had fallen asleep or not, she decided to take the milk to him. Carefully, she placed it on a glass tray and left the kitchen.
But on her way out, she heard sounds from the entrance and her legs took her to that direction.
Instantly, her face fell and the glass dropped from her hands, shattering on the floor. Her heart twisted in pain and her expression turned sour as she watched the man race out of the Villa on the enormous bike.
