Chapter 114: Chapter 114

Assistant Jiang couldn’t wait to retrieve the morning report the next day. He even came first before most of the secretaries.

As he waited for the secretary who handled the reports from the IT Department, he constantly glanced at his wristwatch.

Seeing the assistant’s anxiousness, the secretaries weren’t so pleased.

“Assistant Jiang, we know you’re excited about the new secretaries. But could you hide some of your enthusiasm?”

“It makes us think that Assistant Jiang doesn’t like us that much. Things are going to become more difficult for us, aren’t you saddened by that?”

“After all, we are friends, Assistant Jiang. Your anticipation only breaks our hearts.”

The secretaries all sighed at once. In the whole company, they were the only ones who weren’t satisfied with the CEO’s decision to hire more secretaries.

If there were more females in the CEO’s office, it meant more competition for them. None of them was successful in grabbing the CEO’s attention yet. Wasn’t that like making things tougher for them?

The assistant was also not cooperative. The guy would just shun them whenever they brought up the topic about the CEO.

Assistant Jiang ignored the noisy secretaries. He continued looking at his wristwatch until all the cubicles were occupied by the secretaries.

The secretary he had been waiting for was the last one to arrive. It was as if she did that on purpose. Because it wasn’t only the assistant that was anxious about the result. Every secretary wanted to know who their competitors were as well.

“Gina, you are indeed brazen. How could you make the CEO’s assistant wait for you for almost an hour?”

“Assistant Jiang, I say you should punish her. Gina isn’t taking her job seriously. Offending the assistant is like offending the Boss, right?”

“I know she did it on purpose, Assistant Jiang. Once the CEO arrives, isn’t it better to fire her? After all, our CEO doesn’t tolerate lazy employees.”

The girl named Gina stared at the other secretaries nonchalantly. She wasn’t even fazed when they all tried to convince the assistant to get her fired.

Because that was a normal occurrence in the CEO’s office. The secretaries weren’t particularly enemies, but not a day went by without them trying to get one or two colleagues fired.

The competition was fierce and the only way for them to feel secure was if they weren’t that much in the CEO’s area.

“Hey, Assistant Jiang, don’t listen to them.” The girl smiled sweetly at the assistant. “While everyone is wagging their tongues at the CEO, remember I’m the only person that acknowledged you in this place. Since when has anyone else complimented your looks, Assistant Jiang?”

“Just give me the reports, Gina.” Assistant Jiang didn’t care about whatever the girl was saying. He stared at her bag eagerly and stretched both hands forward.

“Eh? Aren’t you so anxious, Assistant Jiang?” The girl pouted and put on an offended look. “Don’t tell me you’re eager to know the newly hired girls. Assistant Jiang, are you planning to cheat on me?”

She brought the report out of her handbag and the assistant snatched it. Immediately, he hid it inside his jacket before all the secretaries could gather around him.

“Ow, come on. Let us have a look, Assistant Jiang.”

“Why are you being so secretive?”

“Assistant Jiang, the CEO hasn’t even arrived yet. If you let us take a look, he’s not going to suspect anything.”

“Girls, don’t even think about it. You all know the CEO must see this first. In a few minutes, it will be announced on the forum once the CEO approves.”

Assistant Jiang didn’t wait for their whinings. He turned around and hurried inside the office.

When the Assistant sat down, though, he looked around after some minutes to make sure someone wasn’t approaching.

Then he retrieved the report and tried to take a look inside.

“Assistant Jiang, are you breaking the rules now?”

The assistant jumped, hearing the man’s deep voice. “Ahhh! M-Mr. Lim… B-Boss. I wasn’t. I wasn’t looking at it. I promise.”

“You are getting better at this every day. Should I open a new department for the liars in this company? You can do well as their Manager.”

The man was standing at the door and he resumed walking into the office.

“Hehe, Mr. Lim, you are so generous. However, this assistant is too lowly. How can I accept such an honor from you?” Assistant Jiang followed him to his desk.

“Mr. Lim, this is from the IT Department. Here is the list of the employees who are qualified to be part of your secretariat. Please have a look.”

Andrew sat on his chair and took the report. “Who compiled the list?” He opened the report and asked.

“It is directly from the Manager of the IT Department,” The assistant replied while trying to peek at the report.

Andrew frowned and skimmed through the list. There were eighteen qualified applicants in total. However, one thing confused him.

Did Annie change her mind?

“Have they announced it yet?”

“They are waiting for your approval, Mr. Lim,” Assistant Jiang replied, wondering why the man’s expression was suddenly changing.

He let out a small laugh and the assistant skillfully maintained some distance from him. “Are you not pleased with the result?”

“If they haven’t announced it yet, why were the secretaries so occupied that they didn’t notice my arrival?”

On his way to the office, the secretaries’ eyes were pinned on their tablets. They didn’t even look up to know that he had arrived.

The girls were also complaining loudly, deafening the CEO’s area with noises.

Assistant Jiang found the man’s statement strange. However, he could guess what he meant. Immediately, the assistant picked up his tablet and logged into the forum.
