Chapter 107: Chapter 107

“Eh? What is wrong with her?” The employees stared at the Manager’s door in astonishment.

“What is she up to this time?”

“Who knows? No one looked for her trouble, right?”

“Who cares? Mrs. Ju’an is too troublesome. Do you think we have to look for her trouble first before she points fingers at someone?”

Inside the Manager’s office, Jason was startled when Priscilla barged in.

He had been busy flipping through some files and was taken aback by the girl’s loud appearance. Watching her expression, Jason couldn’t help but sigh inside.

“What is it, Priscilla?”

“Can you believe they’re all mocking me, Honey!?” Priscilla had on an offended look. “In this department, no one even cut me some slack since Annie returned. Imagine them throwing horrible remarks at me!”

“Calm down, Priscilla.” Jason sighed again. “What exactly happened?”

“They think I am stupid. They keep discussing about some useless villain characters. I know they were indirectly speaking to me, Honey. Even Annie had the guts to contribute. She is the mastermind behind it all!”

Priscilla was convinced that both Annie and the employees had an underlying meaning to what they were saying. They especially said those words to spite her.

By describing the villain character as extravagant and too flashy, wasn’t Annie directly referring to her?

“Annie is just jealous of my lifestyle. Isn’t she so dark, Honey? Using the employees to indirectly throw remarks at me.”

Jason looked more helpless. “Calm down, please, Priscilla. I think it’s a misunderstanding.”

He didn’t believe the employees would indirectly insult his wife. Moments ago, he had glanced at the surveillance footage and had seen some employees gathered around Annie’s cubicle.

Despite not hearing their words, the employees seemed to be paying rapt attention to whatever Annie was saying, and Annie was also calm. She didn’t look in any other direction.

“You, Honey. Are you defending her?” Priscilla stared at him in astonishment. “Why are you doing this to me? Don’t you know it hurts to see you standing up for her? It makes me feel like a fool.”

Jason wasn’t standing up for Annie. He just believed what he saw. He was, by the way, defending the employees too.

Those employees respected him a lot. He knew they had been patient with Priscilla. They didn’t even dare to talk back to her even if she reprimanded them.

“You’re being too sensitive, Priscilla.” Jason had to leave his chair and coax the girl. “Even if they give you strange looks, isn’t it better to ignore them?”

“But that’s unfair!” Priscilla whined. “Why do I have to tolerate their bullying?”

“They won’t dare to bully you!” Jason assured her. “Have you forgotten they’re working under us?”

“They’re no longer working under me. Didn’t you give the assistant’s position back to Annie? Honey, don’t you like me? Am I doing anything wrong?”

Priscilla put on a pitiful look and slowly wiped her tears. “I thought I was working hard enough to please you. Why am I being wronged?”

Jason’s heart was heavy at the moment. He opened his mouth to speak, but Priscilla didn’t let him.

“Did you only marry me to get back at Annie for what she did? Now that you have resolved your misunderstandings, you left me behind. You don’t even want to acknowledge my feelings.”

“There’s nothing to resolve between Annie and I.” Jason helped her to a couch and sat her down. “Priscilla, stop thinking too far. I’ll never do anything to break the trust between us.”

Priscilla looked into his eyes. He didn’t seem to be lying. How could she believe him, though? Annie was still a thorn in her path.

“If that’s the case, tell me what you two discussed here yesterday. It is only right that I know the truth, isn’t it?”

“It’s not necessary for you to know.” Jason gave her the same answer he gave her yesterday. “Just exercise more patience. Take it easy, Priscilla.”

The more he spoke, the more Priscilla’s heart sank. Why couldn’t he tell her what they discussed? Could she even trust him? She didn’t trust Annie as it is.

Priscilla spent the whole day in his office. She didn’t care about working anymore, because of her spoilt mood.

When the work hours were over, Jason drove straight to B District instead of their home.

“Why are we here?” Priscilla asked. She wasn’t in the mood to speak with anyone, especially Layla.

“Go inside and wait for me. I’ll join you later,” Jason said, recalling the text he got from the former CEO that morning. He wondered why the man wanted to see him.

“But, Honey.” Priscilla pursed her lips. She didn’t want to leave the car.

“I won’t take long, Priscilla. Go inside. I’m sure Mum and Dad will be glad to see you,” he said softly. “This way, you can also calm down. Remember that staying angry will impact your health. Go and have fun.”

Priscilla had no choice but to comply. She didn’t even care to ask him where he was going. After picking up her bag, she left the car and gave him a sad look.

Jason continued driving and stopped minutes later at Mr. Wu’s residence.

It was almost dark when the security finally opened the gates for him. He didn’t take his car inside like the last time and decided to go on foot.

A servant led him to the living room where he met Mr. Wu sitting with his family.

Quickly, the middle-aged man asked his wife and children to give them privacy. He had almost thought that the boy wouldn’t come, because it had been hours since he sent him the text.

“Mr. Ju’an, or should I call you Son-in-law?” He led Jason to a balcony.

“You can call me whatever you want, Mr. Wu,” Jason replied. “After all, you are like a father to my wife.”

“Really?” Mr. Wu chuckled. He supported his hands on the railing, staring far ahead. The small smile on his face didn’t reach his eyes. He tapped his fingers on the metal, shaking his head.

“In that case,” He murmured. “Should I call you ungrateful?”
