Chapter 100: Chapter 100

Inside the Manager’s office, Jason’s eyes were on the surveillance footage. While watching what was going on in the department, the man’s eyes would stray to the empty cubicle.

Moments later, Priscilla barged into the office, taking him unaware. “Honey, seriously, Layla is pushing it. How can she make me look petty in front of the employees?”

Priscilla couldn’t win the argument with Layla. That girl was just too sharp-tongued. She, instead, let the employee go and decided to vent her anger somewhere else.

“I know that she doesn’t like me, and she only likes that girl. However, do you think it is right for her to treat me like this?”

“Priscilla, it’s alright.”

Priscilla shook her and put on a sad look. “It’s not alright, Honey. Annie is no longer here, why does Layla keep treating me like a stranger? You must do something about it!”

Jason put on a helpless look as the girl was about to cry. He stood up and approached her, then said in a soothing tone, “Hey, it’s okay. I’ll know what to do about Layla. Don’t work up yourself over it.”

“How can I not?” Priscilla sniffed. “Everyone loves me in your family apart from her. Tell me, Honey. How can I have peace of mind?”

As much as Layla annoyed her, Priscilla would only let her go because of their relationship. She never tolerated anyone like this before. And it was hurting her pride.

“Just do something about it,” She murmured. “The earlier Layla becomes friends with me, the better.”

.

Because Priscilla was speaking a bit loudly, the employees outside could listen to the conversation going on.

Would problems never end in the department? If Layla hadn’t intervened, Sabrina would have lost her job, right?

As for Sabrina, she couldn’t stop thinking about the humiliation. Before Priscilla even became the Manager’s wife, they were at the same level. Sometimes, she would help Priscilla handle her projects.

Were people always this way? Priscilla did not think about their friendship. Now, she looked down on everyone in the department just because she had become the Manager’s wife.

“Sabrina, you’re so pitiful. Hmph! What an ungrateful bitch. I’ve never seen a snake as venomous as Priscilla,” Mia was sitting beside her and she whispered to her.

“Hey, leave me alone. Aren’t you among the people worshiping her now?”

“If I don’t flatter her, how can I survive in this department? You think I like acting like a puppet?”

The work hours trickled by slowly and the employees found the department more boring. After what happened with Sabrina, none of them dared to sneeze, fearing Priscilla would come out and rain her anger on them.

Fortunately, the Manager seemed to be holding her. Since she went into his office, she never came out.

The employees’ dampened moods were elevated, however, when they logged into the company’s forum.

:::Announcement: Everyone Can Now Enjoy The Full Benefits of a Hardworking Employee.

[MystiArt Productions does not go back on its promise. The shareholders meeting was successful and more positions are now available. Every employee who thinks they deserve to work in the CEO’s Office should fill out this form. Shortly, the winners will be announced and there’ll be more secretaries to give the CEO a lending hand in overlooking the matters of MystiArt Productions.]

“The CEO is hiring more secretaries?”

“Oh, that is great. I can’t wait to apply.”

“Wait, the article only speaks about the hardworking employees. Are you hard-working enough?”

“Who cares? Let’s just fill in the form, someone might get lucky. Being the CEO’s secretary is a massive promotion. Who wouldn’t want to try their luck?”

“You’re right. If we can all work harder, it won’t be difficult. This announcement is like a free ticket to getting promoted easily.”

The employees were still discussing in the forum when another announcement was made.

::: After Careful Consideration, MystiArt Productions Decided To Restructure Its Infrastructure.

[From now on, MystiArt Productions will be focusing more on efficiency. Even if you work hard, if your output is not qualitative, it is in vain. Therefore, every employee should focus more on improving their skills instead of working their ass off fruitlessly. With that said, the employees will no longer receive the same payment. Every employee will be evaluated based on his/her output. At the end of the month, you shall receive what you deserve.]

This news plummeted some of the employees’ happiness.

“What is this supposed to mean? Are we to work hard or not?”

“Can’t you understand simple language? Even if you work twenty-four hours a day, it doesn’t mean you will be paid well if your work is not accurate.”

“So no matter how many projects you handle, if they are not done well, your salary will be less than the others’.”

“MystiArt Productions is a company and not a freelancing organization. Why can’t the employees enjoy the same benefits?”

“It’s obvious. Everyone should be treated fairly. I won’t be working my ass off while my colleague lazy around then expect an increment in their salary.”

“Surely, our new CEO has keen eyes for details. This isn’t to discourage the employees, but to make them work accurately.”

“The employees that think their skills are lacking should better find a way to solve that. This is for your good and also the company’s. MystiArt Productions will no longer tolerate lazy employees.”

“Actually, you’re right. Every decision the CEO has made so far is for the betterment of the company. Don’t think you will be treated well when you don’t work well.”

As the employees posted their comments on the forum, Assistant Jiang whose tablet had been snatched away constantly craned his neck to peek at the screen.

But the man’s tall figure was blocking him and the assistant sighed in exasperation.

“Mr. Lim, a popular tech company in the country just launched a new set of tablets. The devices are good and fast working. If you could-“

“You want me to invest in their business?” The man asked without looking away from the tablet.

Actually, Assistant Jiang wanted him to buy his own tablet.
