Chapter 19: Chapter 19

Chapter Eighteen

Sonya

All guys came out at once. Matthew walked in the house fifteen minutes ago. He came outside as well and smirked at Sonya making her blink in surprise. It was obvious that something was going on between all of them. They were looking at her and Kara differently. Kind of like a predator looking at prey. She doesn't like it. After a while they were still looking at her and Kara. Sun was blazing hot and she was hungry, so Sonya decided to break the silence.

"Do we get to eat or not?" Sonya asked. They all looked at each other, exchanging secret glances.

"You all idiots! Are you gonna starve us? Did you make something or not?" Kara hit Matthew with a magazine.

"Of course. We all should eat something." Sonya and Kara looked at each other, understanding something was going on. Matthew opened the door and gestured for both of them to enter the kitchen. They all sat down. Michael and Alex served them food. Then sat down with them to eat as well.

"We are going to have a pool party so if any of you…. " Noah pointed his fingers to Sonya and Kara "... are on periods, tell me now. I'm not going to cut you slack." Sonya spitted out the water she was drinking and Kara looked at Noah with her mouth open wide. Kara's head snapped to Matthew who gave her indifferent look. Both girls blushed badly.

"You're both getting with us into the pool." Noah said again without hesitation. Kara gave Sonya a tissue to clean herself up.

"I'm not getting into the pool and that's final." Sonya said.

"You're on your periods?" Liam asked.

"No, I'm not… and neither is she!" Sonya face-palmed herself for her blurring.

"I'm going upstairs with my food and 'no' I am not going into the pool." Sonya had a gut feeling that something was wrong. She picked up her food and walked upstairs.

"Well, she just made it interesting." Sonya heard someone saying which made her stop in her tracks. Sonya shook her head and went upstairs in her room.

For a while everything was calm except for few voices. Sonya ate in silence. She wondered what was going on between them. She put aside her plate and sat in silence, listening to any voice. She didn't hear anything so she stood up and walked to the door. She opened it and peeked outside, nothing. Nothing then she heard a scream and a big splash like voice. Sonya ran downstairs and outside and saw Kara and Noah laughing hysterically in the pool. Noah slapped the water surface, grinning widely and shouted "I won."

Sonya stepped outside and asked everyone and no one in particular "Who won? What won?" As everyone turned to her. Sonya stared at everyone and everyone stared her back.

"I thought you weren't going to enter the pool? What are you doing here?" Shane asked.

"I wasn't but I Kara scream. What is he talking about? What winning?" Sonya pointed to Noah.

Every guy stood up including Shane, James and Matthew with a predatory look taking a small step towards her. Like they all were about to pounce. Sonya's body stiffened, sensing dangerous vibes coming from all of them. Suddenly, everyone's eyes got widened as two arms captured her from behind and she was thrown into the pool with someone.

Sonya came out of the water, spitting it that went straight in her mouth and nose. She pushed her hairs aside that were clinging to her face. A mouth came near her ear and whispered "Sorry about not warning you beforehand but I would have lost it, if you knew what was coming."

"That doesn't give a damn right to pull me into water without my consent, Alex." Sonya spitted those words out like venom. Alex backed off, giving Sonya space.

"Now tell me about this stupid bet of yours." Sonya yelled to everyone.

"How did you know we made a bet." Matthew asked. Instead of Sonya, Shane replied "Because she's not an idiot moron." Shane turned to Sonya. "We made a bet that whoever will get both of you in the pool, will get a chance to spend some time together." Shane answered her question. Everyone saw Sonya's face turned into an angry bull.

"Well listen there, you all fucktards. First, I'm not a thing to make a bet on. Second, Why you would want to 'spend time with us?'" She made a 'Quote unquote' mark with her fingers.

"Why do you want to spend time with me, Alex? And how exactly are you planning to spend time with me?"

This sentence made Alex blush. His neck and ear got bright red as he looked down.

"I should have worn white. Right Shane? Like your old bet, times?" Sonya said, her anger dimming. She started to move outside the pool when no one replied to her back.

"Sonya." Sonya turned to find Alex looking at her with a weird expression that she could not quite understand.

"If you don't want to spend time with me, it's your choice. No one will force you or Kara to spend time with anyone they don't want to. I'll make sure of that. And you're right, we were behaving childish. Sorry." Sonya didn't say anything, she just gave him a long look, turned and went straight inside.

Sonya changed and dried herself up. Thinking about what she said and how things have gone in the pool. Did she overreact? Why did Alex look at her that way? There was complete silence downstairs making Sonya feeling eerie. Sonya wanted to shut her mind down. She didn't think it was her fault. So Sonya lied down on her bed thinking until she fell asleep.

Sonya woke up, feeling someone shaking her.

"Sonya. Sonya, wake up." Sonya opened her eyes and looked at Kara. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and checked time.

"Shit, it's eight pm already. How did I sleep this long?" Sonya looked at Kara who took a seat on the bed. Sonya sighed and raked her hands through her hairs.

"Did I go a little overboard?" Sonya asked.

"Maybe a little. You don't have to worry about anything. Come downstairs for dinner, everyone's waiting for you." Kara said.

"Everyone?" Sonya emphasized the word.

"Yes. Sonya everyone." Kara said with a bit of irritation in her voice. "Now, come on." Sonya didn't say anything just nodded her head and followed Kara downstairs to meet everyone. Although, God knew she didn't want to.

Sonya and Kara walked downstairs to find everyone on their seats, murmuring. They all shut up when they saw girls coming downstairs. Sonya looked at them and gave a timid smile. She stopped but Kara kept walking. Alex stood and motioned for her to take a seat. Everything was awkward. Sonya sat down and pretended that no one was there. No one said anything making her agitated.

“I'm not hungry. You all should eat.” Sonya said as she stood. Shane caught her wrist and put her back in her chair. Sonya glared at him.

“Sit down and eat with us.” Shane said.

“I'm not kidding. I'm not hungry. I'm going outside for a walk.” Sonya said. She stood and this time no one stopped her.

Sonya picked up her jacket and walked out of the house. Behind her she heard someone's footsteps. Alex appeared at her side. Sonya didn't say anything, just walked quietly with Alex.

The air was a bit cold but Sonya liked it. They walked and walked and walked for an hour. Sonya walked to a side bench and sat down.

“Why are you following me?” Sonya asked him.

“This is how I wanted to spend my time with you. A peaceful walk with a company aside from my friends.” He replied and looked at the black and blue sky.

“Why?” Sonya asked. Alex turned to her and gave a gentle smile.

“Haven't you did something or wanted to do something without reason?” Sonya looked at him and smiled back.

“You're right. We all did something or wanted to do something that made no sense.”

“Hmm” Alex said and both of them stared at the sky.
