Chapter 12: Chapter 12
Chapter Eleven
Sonya
Shane and his friends were looking at Sonya. Sonya was just in shock like she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Sonya turned to Kara then back to the group and then back to Kara.
"Sonya, They are my brother's friends. Noah, Michael, Alex and Shane. Shane's going to stay here from now on." She said pointing at Shane.
"Kara, can I talk to you in private please." Sonya said as a statement than a question. She took Kara by her hand and walked straight to her backyard.
"What the hell, Sonya? That was so rude of you." Kara said snatching her hand away.
"You're kidding right? About him, Sonya pointed at Shane, staying here."
"No. Why would I lie?"
Sonya realised she never said anything about them or anything about her school to Kara. So she did not know anything about her relationship with them.
"Look."
Sonya said. She did not want to share anything about them with her but she realised she did not have any other choice.
"He, I mean Shane, and his friends are my classmates from history. And long story short, I don't get along with them. We can't let him stay here. Can't he go somewhere else? Who allowed him to stay here anyway?"
"Why didn't you tell me that before? Still we have no choice but to let him stay here. Shane is having some troubles with his family so he needed a place to live, away from his family. He's friends with my brother who talked for him to my uncle. He said he can live here as long as he wanted. If you would have said anything before I probably would have done something but now it's impossible. My uncle won't back away from his words. There's nothing we can do anything about it." Kara said.
"Is everything alright there?" a voice comes out of nowhere. They turned and saw that Alex was poking his head out of the door.
"Yeah, everything's alright. We'll be there in a minute." Kara said.
"I didn't think I would see you here Sonya. It's a surprise." Alex said.
"Yeah, me too." Sonya said.
Sonya turned to Kara and Kara raised her eyebrows. Three of them walked back inside the house. Sonya saw everyone of that group were still on the couch.
"We know her Kara." Liam said pointing at Sonya. Did she never mentioned us? Like never?" Liam asked.
"No but she.." she was cut in the middle of a sentence by Liam who pressed his hand against his heart mocking hurt.
"... that hurt. Why didn't you ever mentioned us to Kara before Sonya? Don't we have any value in your life?" Liam said.
"Whatever. We're going to see each other very often now. I am going to my room. Call me if you need anything." Sonya said to Kara.
"Bye." Sonya said to all of them. And started walking to her room.
"Why you're ignoring us?" Alex asked.
"I'm not ignoring any of you." Sonya said.
"Don't lie. You don't even look in our direction in school and you're saying that you're not ignoring us?"
"Why don't you ask your friend?" Sonya said looking at Shane.
Everyone turned in the direction of Shane. Sonya didn't say anything just walked straight to her room and shut the door behind. But she heard one of them saying "What happened dude?" It doesn't matter. It was their problem, not hers. She has other things to do such as worrying about her marks. Sonya takes out her every book and started studying. She was still in her school uniform without changing it.
She went downstairs to eat dinner. She wanted to avoid Shane and any of his friends but she can't avoid her hunger. Luckily for her, she found out from Kara that Shane and his friends went out to hang out in Noah's house. And that he won't come back until midnight so he asked not to save any food for him. He will have dinner at Noah's house. Kara wanted to talk about her and them but Sonya said it's a long story that she will tell her later. Later in the night when she slept she made a to-do list. In that she wrote every topic she needs to study tomorrow.
Next day, Sonya woke up. She then realised that Shane was living with them now. Sonya cursed. It was a hell of a lot of awkward. She dressed and got out of her room. She walked to the kitchen with silent steps, almost tip towing and tried to make noise as less as was possible. Kara was preparing breakfast. Sonya sat on the table. She then tapped twice on the table to get Kara's attention. Kara turned to her with a jump.
"Damn, you scared me. I didn't even hear you coming." Kara said.
"Is he awake?" Sonya asked.
"Who?" Kara asked with confusion.
Sonya made a 'Seriously?' hand gestures. Then Kara remembered.
"Oh. Shane. He's not here. He came early in the morning. He took his school uniform and whatever he needed and said that he will go to school straight from Noah's house." Kara explained.
"Oh…" Sonya said. She was relieved.
"Did he mentioned how he's going to travel daily? I didn't see a car when I entered yesterday."
"He didn't mention anything but I think he might take the bus just like you." Kara said.
"Okay." 'No, not okay at all' Sonya thought to herself. I'm dead.
Later, Sonya entered her, now, least favorite class. She took her seat but turned her face toward the guy who was crying in the last bench of first row. Two guys and a girl were standing around him. They were trying to calm him down. But she can still hear him sobbing.
Professor entered as the bell rang. Weird thing was Sonya didn't even know his name or want to know his name. Everyone settles down in there seats. People around that guy also took their seats. When the professor saw that one of the students was crying and especially a guy, he went straight to him. Everyone was on their seats, yeah that group too, when the professor spoke.
"What happened?Why are you crying?"
"He injured his hand during game practice. And now it's hurting him." one of the guys spoke who were standing with him just a couple of minutes ago.
"Did I ask you?" Professor said with a frown and a high pitched angry voice. Then he turned to the guy who was crying.
"Man up, kid! Stop crying like girls. Emotions and pain are for girls. Guys don't cry especially over some silly physical pain. Stop crying! I don't want to see you crying again."
Sonya tried to control herself. She tried her best to keep her mouth shut and don't say anything. She had already messed up with her grades and the first day of his class so talking back to him would certainly fire her back. She tried to reason with her but her patience wears off.
"What man up, man up?" She yelled from across the room.
"So what if he's crying? He's in pain. He's a freaking human and not a robot. People like you are the ones who isn't man enough." Sonya said.
"Shut up and don't talk back to me. These stupid girls don't have mind but they talk like they know everything. If a man can't handle pain or handle situations then he's not a man enough…" he's voice trailed off as Principal's voice came on the intercom.
"We're going in a lock down. I repeat we're going to lock down. There's a man who is carrying a knife just entered in the building. Please lock your doors and shut the lights. We will inform you when the situation is under control." then it ended.
Everyone in the class began to panic. Professor shut down the doors and lights. Everyone backed away in a corner listening to any movement. Suddenly a voice started to get closer. A man was screaming like a maniac and banging on doors. He was banging on every classroom door. Finally it came to their door.
He started banging on the door while screaming like a maniac. Then he tried to break down the window with his elbow. Everyone was screaming and some girls were crying. He eventually succeeded in breaking down the window. He snaked his hand inside and opened the door. He entered the class. Sonya looked at her Professor who was cowering behind the girls crowd. That crazy maniac snatched a girl away.
Sonya saw a pair of scissors sitting on the professor's table. She ran towards it. She took it and then ran straight for the guy. He took out a surgical knife and was about to stab the girl when he suddenly screamed. Sonya had stabbed the man just below where his neck's end. He turned towards her and tried to stab Sonya but she picked up a chair and smashed it on that man's head. It was a miracle that police entered the same time in the classroom. One police officer turned the lights on then proceeded to take down that guy. Then they cuffed the guy and got him out of the room.
Sonya was breathing heavily, like everyone else but a little faster. Sonya then turned to her professor.
"Is that how you man up? That girl would have died when you were cowering behind those 'stupid, silly and weak' girls. It would have been better if you just stop this 'man up' thing." Sonya said.
She picked her bag when everyone was frozen looking at Sonya with pride and respect. That professor was frozen looking at Sonya like he can't find the words to say something. Sonya walked out of that class. Other students followed her.
