Chapter 36: Chapter 36

I heard a knock and the door creaked open. I took a deep breath. Now, my mother would see the mess I had caused in my room.

My mother entered my room. She had taken her bath and wore her clothes. It was time for her to go to her workplace.

Her eyes roamed around my room, then flickered back to me.

"Ivy Young, can you tell me why your room is messy? Why are your clothes scattered all over the floor?" Mother questioned me.

I ran my hands through my hair, glancing around my room like I was innocent. Like, I didn't know how it happened or I didn't understand the language my mother spoke to me.

"What's wrong with your tongue?" Mom asked, crossing her arms over her chest. "Why is your room like this?"

I shrugged."I don't know. I will arrange the room later."

"Suit yourself. I am going to work. I don't want to see this room like this when I'm back." Mom warned me.

I nodded my head in the affirmative. "I will do something to the room as soon as possible." I assured her.

"Bye." Mom waved at me and left my room, shutting the door.

I heaved a sigh of relief. I glanced around the room once more. I really made a mess of this room. I should have called Joey to pick a dress for me, instead of turning my room into this.

Well, I have a date with my boyfriend. Romeo told me that he will pick me up in the afternoon for a date, after dropping me this morning. It came as a shock to me. I wasn't expecting a date, especially with how last night went. He was nice to me this morning though. I didn't even bother to bring up the matter. I didn't get involved with his family matters, except if he opens up to me. It was better to let peace reign.

I have been looking for a suitable dress to wear for the date. I had zero fashion sense. I couldn't make up something to wear. That is why I had turned my room into a mess. I would have called my best friend, Joey, to help with picking out a beautiful dress. But, I didn't want to bother her. It is high time I learnt how to choose clothes for an occasion. What if I don't have anyone with me?

I picked up my phone on the bedside table and went to Google. The internet might help me a bit.

I hissed. It was useless. I didn't even know where Romeo and I would be going for the date. I should just keep it simple since I don't know the exact location. It might be a restaurant. Where else would he have in mind?

My eyes went to the wall clock. It was 12pm. Romeo might come to my house in a few minutes. I haven't taken my bath. I haven't eaten breakfast. I didn't have a perfect dress yet. My room looked like a dungeon. I was a mess.

I should do whatever I want to do before I ruin our plans.

*

I slumped on my favorite couch in the living room. It was 1pm. I was finally done with everything and I was waiting for my boyfriend to pick me up. I didn't want to overthink but I couldn't help it.

This will be our first date since we have started dating.

What if Romeo had canceled our date? What if he had forgotten about the date and went out with his friends?

What if he was playing truth or dare with his friends?

What if he was hanging out with Samantha, Sharon or Khloe?

I heard the sound of the doorbell, jolting me out of my train of thoughts. I quickly rushed to the window. My heart almost jumped out of my chest when I caught a glimpse of my boyfriend's car.

My palms suddenly became sweaty. Why was I nervous? It was my boyfriend, not a stranger. I guess I was nervous because it was our first date. What if he was disappointed with my outfit?

The doorbell rang once again.

My hands tightened into fists. "Get a grip on yourself, Ivy Young," I said to myself.

I summoned courage and opened the door, letting him enter the living room.

My eyes met with the bright green eyes. He broke the intense gaze. His eyes caressed my body from head to toe.

"Fuck! You look hot." Romeo exclaimed.

I pressed my palms to my cheeks as my mouth curved into a small. Hot? That was a new word. I have heard a lot of compliments before. I have been called "cute", "pretty", "beautiful", etc but not "hot". It was new and I loved the fact that it came from my boyfriend.

"Do you think my outfit is good?" I asked him, chewing on my bottom lip.

Romeo leaned closer to him and placed his lips on my right cheek."I don't want to cancel our first date. But, how you look right now wants to make me do that." He whispered softly into my ears.

My brows drew together."You want to cancel our date. Why?" I probed.

A corner of his mouth lifted, giving me a lopsided grin. "You look so hot that I don't want to go anywhere. I just want to spend my day worshiping your body." He uttered.

I was blushing so hard. I couldn't look at him, I was avoiding his gaze.

I will surely tell Joey this. My first attempt at choosing an outfit for a date turned out to be great. It was a hit.

I was wearing a white crop top and denim shorts. It was out of my style, so I paired the crop top with a denim jacket. I don't usually wear clothes that expose my body. I tried out something new.

I don't care about exposing my body now. My boyfriend said I look hot. That was enough win for me.

"Tell me, what inspired you to dress this way?" Romeo asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I smirked."You. Do you prefer this look to my other style of dressing?" I asked back.

Romeo tucked a lock of my hair behind my ear, looking into my eyes. "I love all your styles. I love everything about you. You might decide to dress like a nun tomorrow. I will still love it." He said.

"I love you," I uttered, beaming a smile at him. "I want you to be with me forever."

He took my hand and interlocked our fingers. "We will be together forever." He muttered.

"Where are we going for the date?"

Romeo shot me a wink. "It is a surprise. Trust me, you are going to love the surprise."

"I can't wait." I winked back.

****

I threw my arm around my boyfriend, hugging him tightly. "You are the best," I said happily.

Romeo let out a soft chuckle. "You are now acting like the drama queen that you are. Don't you know that people are watching?" He questioned me.

I gave him a quick peck on the lips. "Do I care?" I asked back, grinning from ear to ear.

"You have changed, Ivy. I thought you hated public displays of affection." Romeo whispered.

"Forget about that for now. This is a different case." I stated.

I disengaged from the hug, wishing that we could stay in the intimate position for a long time. But, he was right. People were staring at us already. They were properly wondering the reason why a female teenager was so happy.

Why won't I be happy? My boyfriend took me to a bookstore for our first date. It might not be a big deal for other girls. But, I was different.

I am Ivy. Ivy, the bookworm. My boyfriend bringing me to a bookstore for a date has to be the best thing that has happened to me, after a very long time. I expected him to take me to a restaurant, a swimming pool. But, he really surprised me.

I was so lucky to have a man who cares about my interest, even though it wasn't something he likes doing.

"So, what do you think about our first date?" Romeo asked, flashing a bright smile at me.

"Perfect even though I haven't started picking books." I responded.

"Good. You can go on with picking books. I want to go to the next building in order to get snacks."

"You don't have to worry about getting snacks. The date is already perfect."

"Let me worry, babe. I will be back in a few minutes. " Romeo insisted and left the bookstore.

I was so lucky. I was dating a perfectionist. Romeo was so perfect. What he did today made me love him more.

"I am not going to let him go. I will be with him forever." I said to myself.

I walked around the bookstore, looking for a book that would catch my interest. I was so happy. The smell of books was giving me the vibes. I won't pick a lot of books. I have to be considerate and empathetic. I didn't want to be an inconsiderate girlfriend. My boyfriend was a high school student and he wasn't working yet. I shouldn't let him spend much money.

"Homo sapien."

A line appeared between my brows. That was a familiar voice. I spun around to see the person who talked.

The corners of my mouth tugged upwards when I saw that it was the guy at the party. The one who entered the restroom.

"Goggle." I said.

"Hi, Homo sapien. I'm at your service. What do you want to search for today? Do you have a problem?" He asked me.

"I want to know the reason you are here, Google." I responded.

"Before I give you the result of the search, I think I deserve a hug for yesterday's."

I nodded my head in the affirmative."Sure, Goggle. " I responded.

He walked a few inches closer to me and wrapped his strong arms around him, hugging me.

Wow! I liked his smell. He didn't use a cologne. He smelt natural. Like, bathing soap, the one made with papaya.

"Oh! Your man is here."

I disengaged from the hug. I turned to the back instantly. My eyes met with Romeo's. He was staring at me intensely. Why was he giving me a glare? Did he have a fight with someone?
